those kind of moment it feels like you don't belong here.

In fact it feels like everything leads you here, you enjoy at some point but it's a bit complicated to realize you arrived here by yourself.

I mean... it's been days, weeks, months, years!

Am I alone to feel like sometimes I'm doing things I'm not supposed to but I'm still feeling attracted to? It's ok I guess, time goes by, it's fascinating in a way!

You just have a quick look back, and damn you're already here, here to go on and do what you've got to do.

Don't know if any one is really reading the things I'm writing down on each photos I post though... :D

Anyway, Have a great day! Xx

One of those outings when I was focused on something else but still had my camera with me. I was off to Oldham and since then the Oldham area has had the tram system take over. Times do indeed change.

However, this scene has got the lot including that frowned on habit of window hanging!

DMU, Class 40 freight wagons and hidden behind the 40 is a Class 24 slogging it up Mile Platting bank. Typically, when I turned to photo the 24 as I went past it isn't quite sharp. It can claim being in a rare location though!

In the era of non opening windows on trains, getting anything remotely like this is impossible. Oldham bound passengers don't go this way either. The trams go through Collyhurst Tunnel and branch right just before the Metro-Link stop for Queens Road it Irk Valley Junction I think it is called.

That particular location was closed for years and re-opened for the tram route.

It has something of a history as well. One of the first generation Bury electric trains was involved in a collision with a steam engine which pushed it off the track and some of the unit went over the edge of the viaduct. By sheer fluke I found out that a relative by marriage was on the train that morning. he cause was signalman error if I remember correctly.

Commuters going home managed to have their tram at this same Junction incorrectly routed towards Oldham some time back.

To round it off, at Queens Road Junction (where the line used to go to the dmu depot, coaching sidings and line to Victoria that excursions had to use to avoid Collyhurst Tunnel and its confines and now goes to the tram depot) a second generation came to grief.

The Bury line has had its moments.

Not connected to the Bury line but to the Hixon disaster with E3009, I gather that our family GP from years back was on that train. Obscure links while much closer was a friend who went off doing a branch line and when we met up later he had in our time apart endured seeing a railway fatality.

geo tag a bit of a guess!

For those who did not get to see this years Perseid Meteor shower , I give you this composite image, made up of over 40 photos taken with my @fujifilmx_us XH2 with a 16mm F1.4 lens. Each streak of light you see is one of the remnant’s from Comet 109P/ Swift-Tuttle. The meteors themselves selves are no large than a grain of sand, and hit the earths atmosphere at 133,200mph, as they pass over my family’s farm.

This is the final video (which you can watch here: youtu.be/n-ttuRpVqjo) part of last week's outing, a stroll around M&S at Bluewater in those lovely seamed stockings. I did, though, change my skirt for one slightly longer for this walk.

Cash is 18 weeks old today, and the past few days I think I've really seen him begin to settle. Don't get me wrong, he's always been settled within the home and takes everything in stride, but these past few days he's started to come out his shell a bit, especially towards strangers who he has been very reserved towards up to now. This past week he has greeted three strangers on his own accord :) He continues to do well in training too.

Tomorrow he is off to stay with a lovely home boarder. Unfortunatley the holiday we had booked months ago has denied our request to bring Cash, so he sadly can't come with us. The lady he's staying with is lovely though, and Cassh was very much at home on his visit to her today. Checking out all the rooms, playing with a toy, enjoying saying hello to the lady's elderly Collie x girl. I felt relaxed and confident in leaving Cash with her. That said, I am a little concermned it will unsettle him as he's only been with me coming up to three weeks, and will be staying with the home boarder for two weeks. She reassured me that puppies adjust really well and are generally more settled than older dogs. I hope he remembers me!

When we get home, I hope to join a ringcraft class :)

Those old chinese and giants nets are only remaining in Fort Kochin, and are more a touristic attraction than a real tool for the fishermen

Kochi or Cochin known as the ‘Queen of Arabian Sea’ is a port city located in Kerala and also a important naval base; Kochi, a cluster of islands and peninsulas, is a former spice trading centre of the Arabian Sea and was the first European colony established in India by Portuguese Seafarers; then the city was conquered by the Dutch and the British; Kochi was a commercial capital which explains its cosmopolitan characters and the several communities living in town (Jewish, Arab, Chinese); this rich merchant past can be found in the myriad influences that can be seen in architecture and culture in Kochi; religious building are a major attraction in town with the 16th century Synagogue, the Saint-Francis Church where Vasco de Gama was first buried, and the numerous Hindu temples; another focus in town is the Mattancherry Palace built by the Portuguese with its murals friezes depicting scenes from the Hindu Epics; Kochi is also famous for its district of markets and its old building, its backwaters, its beaches, in particular in Fort Kochi and its walkway ideal to watch the sunset over the harbour and the renowned Chinese Fishing Nets, one of the marvel this place

Those two exactly same built houses are located in the inner harbour of Duisburg. The coloring on them was really nice.

Take in the flower garden of Golder's Hill Park in August. Now start missing the summer days...

Those are commuters taken from a bus (through the window) in a Saturday afternoon

Looking out over Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe California. An absolutely stunning drive around the lake with views that only God could create.

Butterfly at large in the back yard.

...this is, to be precise, near Torrenieri, near the old Cassia road from Torrenieri to San Quirico d'Orcia (Tuscany, Italy). And this is taken from the same place where I took "Trees in morning light" (in a different season, summer vs. spring, of course, and other direction :))...

[It is that time of year once again: we are in Winter, not the greatest of times to go out photograph Romanesque churches, and the major upheavals that took place in my life last year (2025) did not allow me to do a lot of photography —nor was I much inclined to do so, obviously. Therefore, and because I mean to keep posting content for those of you who are kind enough to follow my stream, I daily upload some older shots, re-processed in black-and-white, as that look, which seeks to emulate that of the Zodiaque books, suits very well that kind of photography, I believe.

I hope you will enjoy them. I also reproduce below the original captions I wrote when I first uploaded the concerned photos, sometimes with slight adaptations.]

As you may know, my primary source when preparing a trip to discover the most fascinating Romanesque monuments in France (and elsewhere) is the Zodiaque collection of books, published between 1950 and 2000 by the Benedictine monks of La Pierre-qui-Vire Abbey in Burgundy, under the ægis of (and with photographs by) my mentor Dom Angelico Surchamp, osb. The Languedoc roman volume in that collection mentioned this isolated church of which I had never heard but which was conveniently located right next to the spa resort of Lamalou-les-Bains in the département of Hérault.

I say “conveniently” because, to tell you the truth, the real, primary purpose for which I drove down to Languedoc in November 2022 was not to photograph Romanesque churches (although that would obviously be a welcome complement), but to bring my beloved Revox B77 Mark II tape deck to a competent “fixer” who lived in a village not far from Lamalou. Months ago, I had stupidly broken one of the façade switches, and now the sick boy had to be taken to a healer to be fixed. And while the artisan was doing his thing on the Revox, I got to drive around and see beautiful old stones...

Back to the main matter, the church we are visiting today was built on the remains of an early Christian sanctuary built around the late 300s on the Gallo-Roman site of Rhèdes (traces of it have been found by archæologists). Then, in 551 (there is a most rare written trace), a new church was ordered to be built over the primitive one by “a King of France” whose name is not mentioned —and of course, “France” did not exist as such at that time.

That church was then donated to the Benedictine abbey of Villemagne at a date unknown, but it is mentioned in the last will and testament of Guillaume, viscount of Béziers and Agde († 990 AD), and again in 1153 as a priory of Villemagne.

Stylistically, the church we see today belongs to the First Romanesque Art of the 11th century, but there are indications of an earlier construction date for some parts of it, probably around Year 1000 or even before that milestone. It is a simple yet ample church, very old but beautifully preserved and restored, with none of the absurd excesses of the 19th century. It has been listed as a Historic Landmark since 1880 and the acoustics are so good there are many concerts of all kinds of music during the Summer season. It has been deconsecrated at some point but I haven’t found the exact date.

This photo of the apse takes advantage of the terrain to show a level closeup one doesn’t often get to admire.

Maybe it's because I'm from the north, but I never tire of photographing Live Oak trees draped in Spanish moss & resurrection fern.

Ever have one of those images that sticks in your mind, You know I was there it looked like this and you just can't realise that moment with the tools at hand?

Our second night at Cradle Mt in 2017 ( four years ago .. four years ?!), Kylie and I shared a 'magestical' sunset at Dove Lake followed by a star filled evening.

I took this frame with gloaming still in the west - you know just enough to see the far peak and light the foreground enough to work.

I set the Pentax K1 up with the DFA15-30 lens on it .. framed the shot and headed off to the boatshed with the extremely bright LED torch I own (Kylie doesn't do sheds and spiders in the dark - who knew :-) ). Called out to Kylie to press the release trigger then did a whirling dervish in the hut trying not to over expose too much (it IS a very bright torch) and headed back to a great night with the Tassy devils and Spotted Quals @ Devils at Cradle

( devilsatcradle.com ).

Probably once a year since I've used that frame as a test frame for my workflow with what ever software I'm using at the time.

With us being in yet another lock down here I stumbled across the raw file for Cradle again today and thought 'why not' - after a couple of casual hours and a half dozen versions I can safely say that this is the final version that captures that evening - and the last time I'll be messing with this one.

It doesn't have the multicoloured rainbow that seems to be the norm these days - personally I'm not a fan, I'd rather share the moment that I saw and felt.

For the record - the techy bit - 13 seconds at f2.8 ISO500 - Raw developed in DxO Photolab4 and detail enhanced in Color Efex Pro 4 with a couple of final tweaks in ON1 Photo Raw 2021.5 (that boat shed did blow out a tad) and 'jobs a goodun'.

Hope you had a good weekend (as well as happy 4th to those folk in the 'States).

BTW did you know that on a still night a decent 'Cooee' from round the back of the boatshed - echoes for a very very long time at the lake ;-)

The trees that overlook the River Otter at Budleigh Salterton, Devon, form a signature view.

The South African made rifle licensed by Kalashnikov himself has gone under heavy reconstruction, to further reduce size. Using the standard stamped metal receiver plates and thin titanium handguard piece, this rifle boasts a light weight of 3.2kg unloaded.

It's quite odd that I would post a Modification version first, but it was just so much easier to complete all the nifty attachments first and go backward from there.

It features a rail attached carry handle and a necessary Eotech holographic sight. A simple foregrip and a folding/collapsible polymer stock.

Some major changes will be made for the Un-modded version but as usual, hope you enjoy!

The 8 metre-high Monument to those who Saved the World stands outside the fire station in the city of Chornobyl , and commemorates the firefighters and liquidators who served in the clear up after the April 1986 disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power complex. The monument was installed and unveiled in April 1996, the tenth anniversary of the disaster. Every year on the anniversary of the Chernobyl accident, Chernobyl workers come to the monument to honour the memory of the victims of the disaster.

Chornobyl is not the famous ghost town built for the workers at the ill-fated Chernobyl nuclear power complex; that is Pripyat’, some 20 km away. Chornobyl is not entirely a ghost town, albeit it is well within the 30 km Exclusion Zone in which all normal settlement is still prohibited; but the town contains the offices used by the workers tasked with looking after the disaster area, as well as the zone’s only functioning hotel.

Chornobyl is in excellent condition, with decent looking apartment buildings, well-maintained roads and even a few zebra crossings. Yet once the morning tour buses have passed through, a car might drive along the highway only every few minutes.

Tomb Raider Temple

For those of you who are familiar with the “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” movie, this was the site for a number of the temple scenes. It is the partially restored ruins of the Ta Prom Temple located in the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia. Yes, that is a real strangler fig tree growing over the temple structure. The threatening rain clouds pierced by the sunlight helped to increase the drama feel of the scene.

Workers being taken away from the construction site, in one of the numerous and fully loaded trucks circulating in Bangkok in the evening.

Those of you who have followed my work over the years may have noticed that my titles may possibly have multiple meanings. Take from that what you will. I haven't been compelled to post a selfie in quite some time. I liked this on enough to break that silent streak. Taken April 22, 2019 To those of you that have followed my work over the years - thank you!

Do not use my images without asking first, please and thank you!

I seriously need to pick up my camera more often.
