I think this must be 33 ft Epic schooner built in 2014 designed by Ed Louchard. It was built by the Community Boat Project which has sought for over a decade to create the ultimate non-motorized educational vessel. Schooner-rigged, rowing 8 oars and capable of the multi-day unsupported sailing expedition, Epic is an ultimate teaching platform for all ages. Its home port is Port Hadlock, WA. Glancing through my gallery you might think that we have an abundance of insect life in our surroundings. Nothing could be further from the truth and I struggle to find much at all day to day, especially at the moment during our anticyclonic gloom. One species that does seem to have done OK is the mother of pearl moth - patania ruralis. As I go around the garden watering with the hose, I inevitably disturb one or two moths and this one flew out yesterday and secreted itself amongst the Japanese azalea leaves. Usually these moths in flight travel fast and disappear before I can pinpoint their position. But I managed to spot this one's hiding place and got a snap or two, even with our dark, grey skies overhead. These mother of pearl moths have emerged from a clump of nettles which we grew in a container pot. Quite often they have flapped back into the nettles which have kindly stung me as I strive for a snap or two. This time however, there were no such hazards.

In other words that means, that german users can not access photos on flickr that are not flaged "safe" ... only flowers and landscapes for the germans ...

Shell and Autumn loved the new canopy bed.

Earlier in the year, I bought a bunch of "stuff" at the auction we frequent. There were pieces of a little canopy bed, made by The House of Miniatures that I thought was worth a try putting back together. Let me just say that miniatures in ANY sense of the word are difficult and fiddly things! But I learned a lot and managed it! Ken was terrified to see me drilling with the tiniest bit he had!
The original tiny mattress and canopy were an old and dirty fabric. I happened to have one little bit of a vintage fabric that I thought was perfect for the mattress cover, and managed to make a pillow with the remainder. The tiny coverlet here is a dainty vintage lady's handkerchief, and the canopy is a vintage doily.
(I am averaging 1 post for an hour. Ugh. AT&T sucks)
I think in every human culture parents, especially mothers, are highly respected and loved. In my flock, among lovebirds, mother Tauno is no execption. She is definitely respected and loved, also by me :), and she is never left alone. There are always either her spouse Lorenzo, or two other younger males, Meri or Pyry, with her. I don't know, if she remembers, who her youngsters are, but from the four of them, Tiuku has very warm relationship with his mother. Tauno is the oldest lovebird in my flock, the undisputed queen of it. I don't know her exact age, but it is somewhere between 10...13 years.
Think this girl went a little overboard with her rouge.

I don't think I've ever seen a Eurasian jay just hanging out at the park. They are far too fast to be captured usually, but there you go. Nothing is as usual these days...
Just read about a very peculiar behaviour of the jay: "In order to keep its plumage free from parasites, it lies on top of anthills with spread wings and lets its feathers be sprayed with formic acid." (Wikipedia). Has someone ever seen this?
