Compare this Willow Warbler with the one I posted yesterday which is a normal Spring Willow Warbler. This one I found on the patch at the same time ,its the palest Willow Warbler I think ive ever seen there are 3 possibilities really, and none are easy to determine. I have consulted an expert on the subject and the answer isn't clear. There is a possibility its a Northern race bird (Acredula) but this bird is paler than those , then it could be the Eastern Race (Yakutensis) which would be very rare but unfortunately there is also crossover between races. The other option and probably most likely , is its the normal race Willow Warbler (trochilus) but for some abnormal reason it has not moulted at all,in the winter and the plumage is so worn it has become almost washed out , as the feathers do look worn . Normal Spring Willow Warblers are prestine green and yellow which as you can see this bird isn't at all , so which race cannot from pictures be totally determined , but whatever it was it was a smart unusual Willow Warbler , like none ive seen before really, in 50 years of birding, also when it tried to sing , it was nothing like a Willow Warbler so possibly a 2nd cy bird that even has a aberant song.
I think getting one of the small birds in flight, in focus is all in the timing... and just plain luck of shutter control. In other words, it's flippin' hard! This is only the second time I've done it and I tried often in the last several winters.

#2 in the series of confessions. Soon, I might actually confess something no one knows. I'll think about it. haha
"When I first saw you
I knew that I'd never forget
This moment in time
Justa smile and you took away my heart
I never knew that my life would change
I never knew that I'd feel this way
Baby, believed me I'm right
Won't try to fight
This feelings inside I can't hide
I think I love You
This I am sure
Coz I miss you
Each time that you go
The things in my heart
The things that i say
are things that are true all the way
I've fallen for you
I'll never let go
Coz I need you
You're the light in my sorrow
THe things in my heart
The things that i say
are things that are true all the way
I love you
The days passed, I woke up
my heart, shot by an arrow
I go on my way
The sun shining everyday
Like, there's no tomorrow
I promise with you I will stay
If you tell me you'd be with me too
say yah do
we're meant for each other
I always believe that we do
the way my world brightens
whenever you're with me I know..."

During they where playing scrabble, they could express their Mind - THINK BIG!
wearing: vintage (edwardian? i think) skirt, thirfted in boulder; grey top thrifted in denver; black cardigan thrifted in denver; amethyst brooch from antique shop in denver; earrings from etsy; earmuffs from baby the stars shine bright; ll bean duck boots
I think I may have to renounce the people in my life who turn up their nose at me because they think I've become a bit 'flighty' lately. This is a ridiculous accusation.
I was always flighty, the fact that they understood such a core characteristic after such a long time makes me see them in a whole new light. The light is significantly dimmer in voltage.

i think of creativity broadly. there are many ways to make art. we all have avenues that express our uniqueness. and that uniqueness is art.
i recently read a book, "the wild braid," about stanley kunitz--about his poetry and gardening. in his words: "[An artist's] work is not an expression of the desire for praise or recognition, or prizes, but the deepest manifestation of your gratitude for the gift of life."
i wholeheartedly agree.

A perfect Autumn's day comes to an end at Ullapool Harbour, Scotland. This is a 6 shot hand held pano with frames taken in portrait orientation then cropped at a 2:1 ratio. I normally prefer to have the horizon dead centre on my pano's but the cloud formations were so impressive I just had to include more sky - hopefully the composition works.
Have a great weekend all!
THINK IN MUSIC, SPEAK IN MOVEMENT
These are the streets that speak to me every morning. On foot & in the mist, our conversations ramble. We have no real friends but we know everyone.

I think dad may have been shooting two different cameras here for this shot, and hopefully I will come across a better shot when I start digitizing his medium format slides!
Here we see the WP 920-D with a "High Line" train from the BN departing Oroville in some very nice low afternoon sunlight, probably around 1971 timeframe.

The Pink Ribbon is the international symbol of hope for women with breast cancer.
Pink Ribbon has chosen Rachael Chatoor's "Standing All The Way" as the Pink Ribbon song of 2008. Rachael composed the song as a token of support for survivors and for people who have moved on, yet lived strong and well and full of love, life, and hope, while fighting cancer of any kind.

Think I am spoiled with a lot of unedited images in my Lightroom catalogue. Last year I was quite productive, partly thanks to visiting during summer holidays this very photogenic location in Bayern (South Germany) with in the background the Watzmann mountain.
Despite the overcast me and a German photographer standing next to me where happy with that little sunlight moment to the right..... I certainly return here for a new attempt, maybe autumn this year or early spring with maybe some snow on the Watzmann. Took this shot with an APS-C camera for Sigma Benelux with the very sharp Sigma 18-35 mm f/1.8 Art. I used this body and lens for my blog item for Camernu.nl as well. Which you can read here: www.cameranu.nl/nl/blog/n14445/op-vakantie-met-de-sigma-1...

The National Wallace Monument on Abbey Craig above the Carse of Stirling in Scotland was erected in memory of Scotland's greatest hero, Sir William Wallace, who, in 1297 at the Battle of Stirling Bridge defeated the English army and "sent them homewards to think again".
One of those evenings when you think the sunset will be dull but the sky opens to let the sun spread beams of light dying the landscape in beautiful colours

Cala Conta, always amazing
I know that some think that these birds recognize me but has been almost two months since I last visited and the birds are quite skittish and the Green Herons never wanted to just settle in and forage, so I was never able to get close to them. This one was perched on a branch overhanging the bayou, but eventually just flew away. Photo captured on Horsepen Bayou.
