I think these little Pied-billed Grebes are such a neat looking bird. They always seems to show such interesting feather layers, likely due to the fact that they're usually wet from diving. This one was somewhat close to shore though it toyed with me for quite a while, staying just behind some foliage for the longest time. Hennepin County, MN 04/24/22

The mural was created in 2013 for the Street Art Festival.
I think everyone who has some knowledge of history knows about the battle of Stalingrad, so no lengthy description for today. I mainly wanted to portray ruins of the workers district in Stalingrad, which was firebombed so extensively that there would be nothing left but ash and chimneys. The area would be a battlefield until the Soviets pushed the Germans out of the city in February 1943.
I plan on doing more builds related to the battle of Stalingrad in the future to portray all aspects of it. The next build will likely be the railway station going into the city. I also plan on doing more WWII builds in the future, especially after watching the Soviet film "Come and See", which I highly recommend.
Today, we go to the polls in the Netherlands to elect a new House of Representatives. But are we taking sufficient account of the youngest generations who are not yet allowed to vote? Consider, for example, the increasing political polarization or the escalating climate crisis.
Vandaag gaan we in Nederland naar de stembus om een nieuwe Tweede Kamer te keizen. Maar houden we daarbij we lvoldoende rekening met de jongste generaties die nog niet mogen stemmen? Denk bijvoorbeeld aan de toenemende politieke polarisatie of aan de klimaatcrisis die steeds verder escaleert.

Actually I think before we grew into "reasoning beings", (the thing that makes us unique), we only craved need. As infants without reasoning abilities, hard to know if we felt love or just need. Closeness or love instinctively means safety, and that was all we "needed" before reason made us self-conscious, aware, or the word bandied around lately, we became "woke".
I think we are more than chunks of meat with firing neurons, the ability to "reason" about our place in the universe makes each of us special among all life forms. Our uniqueness gives me reason to suspect none of this is just a random quirk of nature. Was there nothingness before awareness, and will there be nothingness after? I don't think so, otherwise what's the point? Too many things have had to happen over time beyond our comprehension to be just luck or chance. We are part of something special. The natural man is a beast, cruel beyond anything else in nature. We have thousands of years of history to look back on to see the truth of that. Right now the world of man (and woman of course) is at a time of peace and prosperity never know before. We're at a precipice, do we continue to lift humanity to even greater heights, or revert to our bloody, enslaved past? Did God roll the dice on mankind, and was everything for nothing. We have free agency and reason, are we up to the task?
What a ramble, sorry for getting carried away. Just wanted to post a picture. ;>)

They grew well at home but like most plants sold in garden centers here it is short lived in Florida.

Nothing says spring quite like the arrival of baby animals. Here is a cute little fox kit holding a meal from mom and dad. I think he was more interested in playing than eating.
The Beach outside our Beach House on Friday Afternoon.. I was so happy there were clouds & a bit of blue!
Friday was Gorgeous & Saturday was wonderful up until early evening..I got a "wimpy" sunset...but I guess it is not in the cards for me to have a sunset yet..:-)
I think he is actually trying to figure out how to get in on the seed action as the feeding platform was occupied as was Jerry's dish.

Is it just me or maybe just me but I think my recent portraits has this magical feel to it. Must be because I've been doing surreal photos for quite a while it has engraved deep in my system!! lol
I'm having so much fun just being cute in front of the camera 😂 because overall they take me less than an hour from start to finish. I plan to keep on doing this until the remaining of the week so you'll see more of me being cute then we're back to me jumping around looking indescribable. 😎
