Maybe it's an armoured gangster spinner or something.
Are those large wedges the best Lego piece ever or what? Goddamn I love them so.

For 52 Weeks for Dogs -- 24/52
It's been wickedly and dangerously hot here this week, and going upstairs seemed like a bad idea. So, Flattery is just being a pretty little thing downstairs on the couch this week, and I don't think she minds!
You can read more about Flattery at TalesAndTails.com.
I was in the dining room when I heard Cadence's voice saying, "Oh please don't go! We'll eat you up, we love you so!" I grabbed the camera to capture this photo of her "reading." It's the first book that she's taken to reciting, and now she walks around our home saying in the same cackly voice I use, "...And they GNASHED their terrible teeth, and they GNASHED their terrible eyes, and they GNASHED their terrible claws..." She apparently really likes the word GNASHED.
I thought I had missed this year's cotton fields but discovered there was still a field unpicked VERY near us! The hour was very golden.

Thing Of Beauty
Hothouse Flowers
Look out your window on a winter's morning
Your breath is steam and there's frost falling
And the sun casts a spell upon the road
A thing of beauty is not a thing to ignore
Great song of beauty
Stand by the river on a moonlight evening
Lovers are loving and grievers are grieving
And the water does a dance upon the stones
I sit and listen, I will not ignore
A thing of beauty is not to be ignored
Can't you see (can't you see)
The secrets of the dawn? (thing of beauty)
Can't you feel (can't you feel)
Can't you feel it in the place that you come from? (thing of beauty)
Face up to morning
Face up to day
Face up to reality
And face up to your ways
Second image from our trip to Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains last Saturday.
This was shot using my 70-200 lens, as I wanted to compress the scene.
A beautiful tree lined street, with hardly a car in sight.
Hope you like "Thing Of Beauty"
Cheers, Mike
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when we contemplate the mysteries of eternity, of life and the marvellous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery everyday. Never lose a holy curiosity."
~Albert Einstein

This is the last of the mums for now. I picked up this bowl at Value Village in Peterborough some time ago. Always on the look-out for photo props, vases and bowls.

My thing for the thing.
dance through the masquerade of life without wearing a mask, for being yourself is the most beautiful thing
I don't know what this is, but it's very pretty, although it does look as if it might devour me, tickling me with its hairy bits while it does so. I shall try to find it when it blossoms.

There’s only one thing that my bank voles love more than peanut butter. And what’s that? Scrapping! Actually, when they’re young up to about a month old they’re fairly tolerant of each other, but after that it’s no holds barred. If three or four turn up at the same time they’re harder to photograph because of this. It’s all part of the bank voles character and they’re hugely entertaining to watch at the best of times.
How this little juvenile Back-crowned night heron made my heart sing when he did this! Everything was right about this moment except the photographer. Sadly, my settings were set for a tricolored heron fishing in bright water! Oh well... I'm posting them anyway, with a bit of manipulation since I haven't seen too many like this, and I loved the way the light brought out the red in his eye... Hope you enjoy! Any suggestions? Do you like one more than the other?

Finally. After countless attempts, it worked and the fog was exactly where I wanted it to be: only the castle protrudes from it, the entire mountain cone remains hidden underneath. The whole thing happened very early, about three quarters of an hour before sunrise, the stars were just beginning to fade and the sky showed the very first light of the morning. After that, the fog sank significantly. The new goal now is to capture this situation, this height of fog at the peak of the dusk just before sunrise...
