I have a photo about this plant already, but I like the English name so much, I need to post a new shot of it.
Shot on a foggy morning.

Grows typically in higher mountains, on stony grounds.
Endemic to the mountains of central and southern Europe.
Normally grows in bunches like this. Short stems, nodding flower heads. The Latin name refers to spoon shaped basal leaves.

18th century Thimble Hall in Youlgrave and was originally a one-up, one-down cottage with a ladder for a staircase; no bathroom or kitchen nor even running water and said to have been home to a family of eight around a hundred years ago. It was last occupied as a dwelling in the early 1930s by a brother and sister known as Charlie and Jinnie Frisky (not their real surname.)
The tiny building has been used as an antique shop, butcher's and a cobblers.

Thimble Hall in Youlgrave as 'the world's smallest detached house' at 11ft 10 in x 10 ft 3 in and 12 ft 2 in high. The property made national headlines in 1999 when sold at auction for £39,500. Bids came in by telephone from Hong Kong, Athens and New York but even Uri Geller was outbid when the hammer fell to Frederick's of Chesterfield, ice cream manufacturers.
Each room is less than 8 feet square and there was a fixed ladder to the bedroom and a stone fireplace, also exposed beams and exposed floorboards in the bedroom.
Today it is a Grade II listed building.

Thimble Peak officially; it's on a ridge in between Sabino (my location) & Bear Canyons. I understand it's not difficult to hike to its base, but to summit requires a technical climb of a few feet. Elevation at the top is 5322', probably close to 1500' above my position.
I like seeing and photographing saguaros anytime, but I think they look especially cool when growing on a hillside such as here. Consider that many/most of those seen are probably 20+' tall and it's pretty obvious that they have a terrific root system holding them up.
Seen from the Phoneline Link Trail in Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, Coronado National Forest, on an absolutely glorious late-December day.
Nov 23, 2009 # 447. I would like to give special thanks to Ghada "{CherryNess}" for her sweet and kind testimonial..! She´s only 12 years old!!! I think she´s the youngest person I know around here...! And It´s amazing how, at such young age, her stream is a delighful representation of her tennage and girly world...! :)

The Thimble Inn is a lovely thatched Dorset country pub located in beautiful countryside in Piddlehinton.
This lovely village is situated in the Piddle valley 5 miles (8 km) north of Dorchester.
In the 2011 census the parish had a population of 403.
Named for the thimbleberry, a relative of the black raspberry, the islands consist of a jumble of granite rocks, ledges and outcroppings resulting from glaciation, numbering between 100 and 365 depending on where the line is drawn between an island and a mere rock. 23 are inhabited (only in the warmer months).
