Point Reyes National Seashore: Here's another from my evening with the herd of Tule bulls down in the ravine next to the park road. I really worked for these images. It was late, the few tourists had long disappeared. There was really no way to pull off here for photos, so I was simply paused in the "rolling blind", engine running, then moving on because these big ranch trucks kept bearing down on me from behind. So I would move on to the closest place I could turn around, then drive back past the herd and turn around again so I could shoot out my window. I think I did it maybe 4 times. But it was incredibly special to see this mass of prime specimens.

I can be your hero, i can kiss way then pain, i stand by you forever........

So it's the 'Alexander' catamaran on its way to McMahons Point Wharf, Balmain East Wharf and then across Darling Harbour to Barangaroo.

If you catch this ferry, you will be just in time for an amazing dinner at 'The Malaya' restaurant in Lime Street, right near King Street Wharf, at Barangaroo.

This is one of the coolest restaurants in Sydney. Here's the info AND the latest menu:

After dinner catch a night ferry back across the harbour, under the bridge, and on to Circular Quay. OR, get off at Luna Park (aka Milsons Point) and take the super fast, brand new, Metro driverless train back to the Hills District. Too easy, lol.

….and then between 2 bushes we saw a male Blue Wildebeest slowly walking in the direction of an open area.

It was not aware of the Lioness nor of our jeep.

The Wildebeest was about 40 meters away from the Lioness and even closer to us when it noticed that it was not alone....

The Lioness immediately launched her attack bursting into full speed and the Wildebeest ran away turning in our direction.

This is the SECOND image of the series.

There was no time to change any settings ( or actually even to breath …. )

"Then she was terrified, and wanted to fling off the red shoes, but they clung fast; and she pulled down her stockings, but the shoes seemed to have grown to her feet. And she danced, and must dance, over fields and meadows, in rain and sunshine, by night and day; but at night it was the most fearful.

She danced over the churchyard, but the dead did not dance--they had something better to do than to dance. She wished to seat herself on a poor man's grave, where the bitter tansy grew; but for her there was neither peace nor rest; and when she danced towards the open church door, she saw an angel standing there. He wore long, white garments; he had wings which reached from his shoulders to the earth; his countenance was severe and grave; and in his hand he held a sword, broad and glittering.

"Dance shalt thou!" said he. "Dance in thy red shoes till thou art pale and cold! Till thy skin shrivels up and thou art a skeleton! Dance shalt thou from door to door, and where proud, vain children dwell, thou shalt knock, that they may hear thee and tremble! Dance shalt thou--!"

"Mercy!" cried Karen. But she did not hear the angel's reply, for the shoes carried her through the gate into the fields, across roads and bridges, and she must keep ever dancing."

The Starlings were not playing ball tbh....The best shaped murmurations were over the car park annoyingly. i have some nice shapes over the reed beds but they were small and I think the thrill we felt was felt mostly at this particular moment. They chose to go down in the reed bed adjacent to us within a few metres and the noise was amazing with their chattering. I wonder what they were saying to each other.......?

Paolo Veronese (1528 - 1588)

Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien

"In the hands of Veronese even this gloomy scene gains in solemnity by – initially – focusing on stark colours to emphasise the heroine’s worldly beauty. Only on closer inspection do we catch sight of Holofernes’ dark head and the sack that is ready to contain it, held by the servant. It is exactly this contrast between light and dark, between beauty and terror, which gives the picture its Mannerist charm." www.khm.at/en/objectdb/detail/390/?lv=detail

In this context, I highly recommend the oratorio 'Juditha triumphans' (RV 644) by Antonio Vivaldi. This is more than two hours of the most gripping, fantastic music (in fact, discovering Vivaldi's sacred vocal music is like discovering a continent). Here is the link to a particularly well done concert: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd_2D9Rg_Tk

As an appetiser, I recommend the aria 'Armatæ face et anguibus'. You can get there by clicking on 'SHOW MORE' under the video and then on '02:00:01'. Don't miss this art delight!

a view of the Fraser River from Deas Island Regional Park. I like watching the river when the tide is changing, there is always a bit of a struggle then finally it succumbs to the inevitable, there are some battles you will never win, you must concede gracefully.

Sunset over the sea at Trebarwith Strand, Cornwall

I really like this shot but then I am not very happy with it. The Ibis that is on the right side is cut off. I wanted to show how many there was, but I can't get them all in frame. I guess I am going to have to try again. The other aspect of this image is the purple flowers\weeds. Not sure what they are. My wife calls them Florida Snow, because we always see them this time of year and it is everywhere in the park. I assume its a bud from the Saint Augustine Grass.

I could use some back then, right now

Sydney's Olympic (Accor) Stadium at sunset.

The AC DC 'Power Up' Concert.

November, 2025. Sydney.

Here's AC DC with 'Highway To Hell':

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikFFVfObwss

So I attended the AC DC 'Power Up' concert at the Sydney (Accor) Olympic Stadium, at Homebush in western Sydney, last Friday 21st November, 2025, and then again on Monday, 25th November, 2025.

It was VERY loud but amazingly energetic. My two daughters were NOT at all impressed, arguing that Taylor Swift is far better and more popular. "Well," I argued back, "let's see who has sold more tickets, and which tickets sold the fastest?" So we looked at the Ticketek website and guess what? AC DC destroyed Taylor Swift for sales!!! "OMG," declared Miss 18, "there must be SO many old people in Sydney." See what I live with.

A mobile phone photograph of dubious quality, lol.

Processed, to some extent, in Adobe Lightroom.

Then there are days that are not really suitable for photography. A photo should be able to show these conditions clearly.

After starting my day on the Mattawamkeag Sub with NBSR, I then cut across to Greenville to try and lens the rail train working the Moosehead around MP 36. They were dumping out around Squaw Brook for the whole morning and into the afternoon when they would meet 250. As luck would have it they took paper from the West siding switch Moosehead to Jackman immediately after the meet. With the sun fading I knew I wouldn't be getting anything at Parlin, but as I came around the corner on Route 15 at Demo Rd I knew I had them. The sun was nearly head on, if not for that there was no hope, the sun was getting incredibly low in the sky. Veteran SD40-2 5936 was doing the honors with SD60 6258 trailing.

The classic shot from Geiranger, on a great day. Only an ultrawide lens can show the grandness of the view and even then you have to stitch the shots to get it all in one image.

Norway, a stunningly beautiful country. Around every corner a chance for a scenic image, forcing me from time to time to stop every kilometer to get out of my car, sometimes with screeching brakes, and sometimes forcing me to curse because there was no place to stop.

Lovely valleys, bare mountains and cold winds, snow packs, glaciers, beautiful lakes, and then there are the enchanting fjords that never stop to amaze. The most beautiful country of Europe, for me no doubt about that, with only one minor aspect, which is the weather. During my month of traveling I only had 4 really nice days, the rest of the time clouds, rain, and very changeable! Still no regret, and I will go back to make even more than the 3500 pictures that I took this time.

Another very active vacation that took me to the south west up to Trondheim in a sort of triangle between Oslo- trondheim and Bergen with the whole route visible here (www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153668247101759&set...).

He calls me the devil

I make him wanna sin

Every time I knock, he can't help but let me in

Must be homesick for the real

I'm the realest it gets

You probably still adore me

With my hands around your neck

Can you feel the warmth, yeah

'Cause my kiss goes down you like some sweet alcohol

Where I'm coming from, yeah

Is a darker side of me that makes you feel so numb

My family lived in Panama for a couple years and I received the ring as a gift while there. It is compared with a Panamanian cinco centesimos 1968 coin. Macro Monday theme "smaller then a coin".

On the edge of one of the former quarries on Easdale.

One of the most interesting places I’ve ever been to - Easdale, one of the Slate Islands off the west coast of Scotland, near Oban. Easdale was the centre of a huge slate-making industry in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth century - there are Easdale slates on roofs as far away as Nova Scotia and New Zealand. Then in 1881 disaster struck - a huge storm and subsequent massive sea swamped all the quarries on the island. All the machinery was lost and mining had to end.

The quarries are still filled with water today - the mining machinery is still at the bottom of some of them, so they’re quite eerie and a wee bit sinister. And the island is covered with bits of slate, millions of pieces of it. It’s very other-worldly.

"I'd like to tell you that my sky's not blue, it's violent rain

And in my world, the people on the street don't know my name

Because in my world, I'm constantly, constantly havin' a breakthrough

Or a breakdown, or a blackout

Would you make out with me underneath the shelter of the balcony?

'Cause I don't need anyone

I don't need anyone

I just need everyone and then some

Left my shoes in the street so you'd carry me

Through a breakdown

Through a breakdown or a blackout

Would you make out with me on the floor of the mezzanine?

My face is full of spiderwebs, all tender, yellow, blue

And still with one eye open, well, all I see is you

I left my daydreams at the gate because I just can't take 'em too

Know my heart still has a suitcase, but I still can't take it through

I don't need anyone

I don't need anyone

I just need everyone and then some"

This little Warbler is truly very common to see. The birds we saw at the park were hanging around in the tall grasses of the marsh which made it a fun challenge to try to photograph them. We had to find a line of sight through the reeds to get a clear shot of them and then deal with a breeze that gently rocked the birds or waved another blade of grass in front of him again. With the breezes we sometimes had shadows come across the bird intermittently. Thankfully, we had a few days to keep going back to get it right. The front of this bird is quite noticeable with his yellow throat and masked eyes. If he shows his back, he’s not as quick to be noticed. But then he sings and there is not mistaking who he is. This was a good challenge and a real exercise in patience.
