Also known as the Eastern Gray Squirrel, native to eastern North America where it is an essential natural forester. Less arboreal than then the Red Squirrel as the grey tends to feed extensively on the ground. Its not their fault that there over here in the UK that one lie's with the worlds most destructive and most dangerous animal on the planet called the human. This is one of the first wild mammals that children can get to see regally and so sometimes help encourage them to get into nature.

** I almost missed this sunset seen from the beach at Blonville-sur-mer. We had arrived about 4pm and we had to unpack and then go out to buy provisions and other essentials like wine. We had dinner and were preparing for a quiet night in the house . However I spotted the evening sky from the balcony and said we better go and see this . It was about ten minutes downhill to the beach and the sun had set but the sky was wonderful . A good start to the holidays.
Note to self… before booking holiday accommodation check on the topography . We were staying on top of a steep hill and while going down to the beach was easy to climb back was quite a struggle . For those of you who know the hill in Robins hoods Bay you will know what I mean
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.

Honesty
.....the ONLY policy!!
Honesty (Lunaria) - in my garden and in my heart. With the latter, unlike the former, it doesn't just appear in spring, there are no stages, no tweaking, no compromises and no exceptions, it is a guiding Light, Take it or leave it.
In the times of inversion and great deceit in which we live, a world where lies are the accepted norm, from the very top down and throughout all media, then speaking the truth is considered a subversive act ..... or at least it soon will be.
It is an interesting contemplation that honesty and truth are not necessarily synonymous. Truth by definition is honest, but without honesty that which is true can be difficult to discern.
This flower also has lovely papery white seed pods that the sun shines through and illuminates in autumn.
I love to fold and then make a nice picture of it, so I can share my love, the joy and beauty of origami with others. And maybe you get inspired to try it too!
So this time I a folded a trombone, as I like music too. Hope it makes you smile.
Wishing you lots of smiles this weekend ;-))

This winter, to my great surprise, the village cemetery turned out to be a joyful place for me. This is because it was there that I found the same female Snowy Owl, again and again. I usually found her sitting on the ground in the snow or on a low cement bench. It was very different to drive to the cemetery one day and find Ms. Snowy perched atop a tombstone, not far from the road. I didn't realize it then, but this would be the last time I'd see Ms. Snowy. At least, for Winter 2017-2018. I'm not sure what to make of the inscription on the tombstone...if anything. I just know that I will be thrilled to go to the cemetery next winter and find a Snowy Owl!
Please note: In reality, the monument that the owl is sitting on shows the names of the deceased at the top of it with the words, "one day at a time" beneath the names. I didn't feel okay about showing the names, so I removed them in PS and moved the inscription upwards.

The Squares of the City
Every now and then, something on Flickr inspires me into action. I saw some square architecture a little while ago and thought I would try and create my own series. An additional inspiration was a John Brunner book of the same title that I had read again last year. The two fitted, for me, quite naturally. Hope you enjoy this new series. This is the second set…
then it's up to you to get the camera to see :-)

Macro Mondays 03/12/18 theme Balance
As you probably realise balancing ball bearings is near on impossible but as they are steel they are also magnetic.I placed a strong magnet under a metal plate and then stacked the bearings. It still took a little time to get them balanced but it was a better result than trying to stick them together.

Was able to watch this Horned Lark for some time. With every movement I made it would go to the highest snow, search around and then back to foraging in the Parking Lot. (Bronte Creek Provincial Park)
I like the way you sound in the morning. We're on the phone and without a warning, I realize your laugh is the best sound
I have ever heard
I like the way I can't keep my focus. I watch you talk, you didn't notice. I hear the words but all I can think is
We should be together..
Every time you smile, I smile
And every time you shine, I'll shine for you
Whoa, oh, I'm feeling you baby
Don't be afraid to
Jump then fall
Jump then fall into me
Baby, I'm never gonna leave you
Say that you wanna be with me too.. 'Cause I'mma stay through it all..
So jump then fall
Well, I like the way your hair falls in your face. You got the keys to me, I love each freckle on your face, oh. I've never been so wrapped up, honey I like the way you're everything I ever wanted
I had time to think it all over
And all I can say is come closer
Take a deep breath then jump then fall into me. Cause every time you smile, I smile and every time you shine, I'll shine for you
Whoa, oh, I'm feeling you baby
Don't be afraid to jump then fall.
Jump then fall into me. Baby, I'm never gonna leave you, say that you wanna be with me too.. 'Cause I'mma stay through it all.
So jump then fall
The bottom's gonna drop out from under our feet
I'll catch you, I'll catch you
When people say things that bring you to your knees
I'll catch you.
The time is gonna come when you're so mad you could cry
But I'll hold you through the night until you smile
Whoa, oh, I need you baby
Don't be afraid, please,
Jump then fall. Jump then fall into me. Baby, I'm never gonna leave you. Say that you wanna be with me too 'Cause I'mma stay through it all.
So jump then fall
Jump then fall, baby,
Jump then fall into me, into me
Every time you smile, I smile
And every time you shine, I'll shine and every time you're here
Baby I'll show you, I'll show you
You can Jump then fall, jump then fall. Jump then fall into me, into me, yeah
March 3 afternoon: The sky mostly cleared but the temperature continued to dip giving room for beautiful scenery concealing bitter cold wind. Still, such fluctuation in temperature is a new feature in our Canadian Winter. Have a wonderful Sunday!
I recently rediscovered this beautiful old graveyard in Windsor, Ontario. As I wandered around on this sunny fall afternoon, I was thinking about these departed souls. As I begin my ‘golden years’, I’m reminded how quickly time goes and the need, even more then ever, to cherish every moment.
Series 2 - Picture 5

An exhibition made by Jes and I as one 'artist'- as The Modes.
The collection is named "One Love, One Life" and shown on 2 stands. The first a little life story and the second a reflection of being two as well as one, where the essence is love.
All pictures are in all details made by us together.
The exhibit will be show till the end of August 2017 and can be seen here;

Happiness is a butterfly
We should catch it while dancing, I
Lose myself in the music, baby
Every day is a lullaby
Try to catch it like lightning, I
Sing it into my music, I'm crazy
If he's a serial killer, then what's the worst
That could happen to a girl who's already hurt?
I'm already hurt
If he's as bad as they say, then I guess I'm cursed
Looking into his eyes, I think he's already hurt
He's already hurt
Taken Friday morning with my 'new' phone, then processed in Topaz Studio with a texture of my own. The weather went downhill shortly after this, it poured down for the rest of the the day. It doesn't seem like we'll get a proper summer this year, here in the UK. Marnie and I visit this place nearly every day if I'm short of time, as it's so close to home. She gets what she needs, familiarity and a space to roam. I get a nice view down the stream with flowers, beautiful trees and the sight and sound of trickling water.
You know I usually like to put music to my images, so here's something beautiful you may not have heard or seen before.

Lie, awake
and Watching you run through my head
I'm alone again
but not for long my friend
We face, another day
And distance has come, and taken you far away again
but I'll see you soon my friend
and then I'll sing you my song
I can't
Go home alone again
No I can't
My friend
Until then
Eyes I recognize
Taken me back, familiar to me from some other time
or maybe another life
remember our time
and know who I am
the memory it stays until we can breath as one again
and I'm coming back my friend
and then I'll sing you my song
Oh yeah
I can't
go home alone again
No I can't
go home all alone again
no I can't
my friend
Until then

Harder to get then it looks: "Aw, it'll be an easy shot," I thought. Well, it wasn't. The ISO was set high, the lens was longish, the shutter speed was lowish, the safari car was not steady, the sun was coming up rapidly and the light was changing every second, and the giraffe was on the move. Those are my excuses. We had left Mara Bush Camp at 5:45 a.m. to begin our first day at Masai Mara National Reserve in southwestern Kenya. ©2022 John M. Hudson | jmhudson1.com

We came across this Black-Crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) just off the trail at Circle B Bar Reserve (CBBR) near Lakeland, Florida. Initially, he appeared to be sleeping but then he opened his left eye. It may be that one way birds lose body heat is through their beaks. This guy seems to be keeping his beak warm by tucking it under his feathers. He measures 23-28 inches (58-70 cm) from beak-tip to tail-tip.

And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you

Snowy and cold here today. Not as cold and snowy as some places I know but enough to cause major disruption.
Not that it takes much. Not here.
But as I can’t do very much else it gives me time for Flickr Time to post another image.
From Halong Bay, Vietnam.
Where it was warmer.
Hopefully, it will be warmer here soon. And we can all get back to normal.
In the mean time I think I’ll get out and take advantage of the weather.
Maybe we’ll learn to cope better with the ice and snow. After all, we get it in winter. Every year.
Then again, maybe we won’t.
