I have always considered the ultimate in photography to be National Geographic Magazine. I was thrilled when I received a FlickrMail from them telling me that they wanted to use one of my images! The online edition, not the magazine. The German Online edition. This is a screen shot of the latest National Geographic Deutschland. I can read my name but that's about all. I don't read German. They told me it was it was for an article about the spread of Kudzu in the USA. It could be about really bad photography in the USA for all that I know.
But...either way....I'm in National Geographic! Cool!

Very very sad day today :(
A great man passed on :(
One of my all time favourite authors. A unique talent and perspective on the world :)
The original from Parker Brothers!

the game was a gift and we attempted to play it when it was given. Turns out that the "Glad Game' is quite complicated and it took us forever to just figure out the rules. On top of that the pieces themselves are kind of fragile, so I don't think we'll be pulling it out often.
A mural in The Hague, made in 1983, with the text 'Cows against nuclear weapons'. It was part of a big demonstration (the biggest in the country ever) against a new generation of nuclear weaponry.
A copperplate engraving of the title page.
A Complete Edition of the Poets of Great Britain
Vol III – Drayton, Carew and Suckling (1793).
Publisher John Bell, Edinburgh, Full leather binding, 760 pages 16cm x 24cm
Bell was one of the first to organize a book-publishing company on a joint-stock basis. Beginning in 1777 he issued the 109 volumes of The Poets of Great Britain complete from Chaucer to Churchill series. He influenced later publishing practice by introducing into his books illustrations prepared by competent artists and related to the text.
Orchid is beautiful but "cold". This is just how I feel this flower :) though, according to the horoscope we should match. :)

Working on a project with the heading "Out of focus".
This is one of the ways I am attacking it....kinda reverse since the glasses make the text "in focus"...but still......most of it is out of focus.
I appreciate all comments!
BTW: If you recognize the book I will donate you 3 comments and 2 favorites ;-)
An AMD Ryzen 7 1700, seen just after unboxing. (to go on that Gigabyte motherboard, photo prior in my photostream...) Taken in Albany, CA by a Nikon D610 at ISO 3600 with a Micro-Nikkor 105mm ƒ 2.8 AF-D lens. (NOT the AFS one!) Exposure is 1/125 sec @ ƒ 6.3 Cropped to the square chip, otherwise SOOC.
Above is about 3 times life-size on my 15" laptop screen. (at 1920x1080 resolution) You can imagine how impressive it seems on one of my 27" monitors...
Yes, the top of the chip is out of focus, but the substrate is in focus – this just shows how little Depth of Field you have with a 105mm Macro lens at 1:1.4 on the film plane/image sensor... and how hard it is to tell the difference with Nikon's newer cameras...
I now have a store front on Redbubble.com! I had been getting a lot of requests for a supplier with better international shipping rates, so here it is.
The wife asked this girl if we could take her picture (I certainly would have felt creepy going up to sixteen year old kids asking if I could take their picture). She nodded and kept texting away. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... next generation communication is the most accurate way to split out microgenerations. I'm from the old-school e-mail generation. I'll happily set my e-mail at work to refresh every five minutes, and I'm happy to check it and respond to it. The wife is more from the IM generation. I just don't get the impulse of immediate IMs. Seems a little rude to me. Then there are these goofy kids and their texting. They make me feel like Grandpa.

"The Marcaboth Women" by Vina Delmar book jacket designed by Philip Grushkin. He studied at Cooper Union under the master book designer George Salter. Like Salter, Mr. Grushkin later taught at Cooper Union, and then elsewhere. His mantra was that hand-lettering felt alive.
