This is my version of Roy Lichtenstein's famous piece.

It's a contour piece made of laminated painted 3mm MDF to pay homage to the original. It is 83 x 63 cm and is a proof of concept piece to develop an idea I have to complete similar pieces based on my own redacted images some of which figure within my Flickr work. It is not for sale - it has already been bagged by eldest son (Jonathon) but later pieces might be if I'm satisfied with their quality and durability. I have also toyed with the idea of somehow incorporating the "Ben Day" dots into a piece more on that later if and when I get it to work

"Why the hell is this guy taking a photo of us texting?"

"I don't know. Pretend he's not here and maybe he will go away."

:-P

BTW, I did check with Sandy (platinum blonde on the left) to make sure I really didn't bother or creep either one out. She said no, and thought that this was a cute and fun pic. *thumbs up*

Taking a break from the equine sketches mini-series (which will be resumed later) I am offering this playful page filler incorporating text and imagery. It's just fun (I hope), atleast it was to produce. Enjoy! I love Flickr and all the interactive fun it offers. Peace and goodwill to all Flickr users (even though it's not Christmas). Julian.

Okay, well I feel a little bit ridiculous doing this, as I don't think I'm good enough to be doing this and I'm sure no-one will even comment on this, but on the off-chance that somebody does see this and wants to take part, I am doing a print giveaway. I have finally reached 20,000 pageviews, and so I am doing a print giveaway with you, for you, to say thank-you! ♥ :)

Here are the details:

- 10 winners will be chosen (if there are even that many people!)

- The winners will receive their choice of any three of my photos (including this one too without the text)!

- In your comment, please put your name along with your choices.

- Please put [ ] around the links to the pictures you've chosen, it makes it easier for me to see your choices.

- I will send them anywhere around the world :) ♥

- I'll end the giveaway on the 1st March 2012, once I get back from Berlin.

I hope you're all having a great week so far, and thank you all so much for all of your comments and favourites- it really means so much to me! Love, Mari-ann :) ♥ ♥

Robert Bonfils was the art director and cover artist for the San Diego-based Hamling Organization during the sixties and seventies and, for a decade, he worked exclusively for them. He produced some of his best covers during this period. The books were published under imprints such as Nightstand Books, Leisure Books, Adult Books, Candid Readers, Companion Books and other lines within the Hamling group. Before then, he produced book covers for the Chicago-based Merit Books and Newsstand Library and Las Vegas’ Playtime Books. He retired from doing cover art in the mid seventies, but he remained active as a painter of fine art in San Diego. Bonfils covers are now incredibly popular and sought after by book collectors, particularly fans of what is called “good girl art” (or GGA).

I've recently been working with Lift Interactive to redo my photography website... a fortuitous partnership as they have just recently launched a new portfolio management tool designed for photographers and creative professionals.

Parade is a web based intuitive portfolio management tool that provides stunning, thoughtfully designed, fully editable Flash website templates that allow for easy instant edits. Right now they offer a selection of templates, but I believe that in a few months they will also be launching a custom design service that is based on the same backend system so that photographers or creative professionals will still have control over the content of their site.

Some of my images are being used in one of the demo sites, but make sure to check them all out. It's a really cool and useful service for photographers.
