I now have a store front on Redbubble.com! I had been getting a lot of requests for a supplier with better international shipping rates, so here it is.
The wife asked this girl if we could take her picture (I certainly would have felt creepy going up to sixteen year old kids asking if I could take their picture). She nodded and kept texting away. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... next generation communication is the most accurate way to split out microgenerations. I'm from the old-school e-mail generation. I'll happily set my e-mail at work to refresh every five minutes, and I'm happy to check it and respond to it. The wife is more from the IM generation. I just don't get the impulse of immediate IMs. Seems a little rude to me. Then there are these goofy kids and their texting. They make me feel like Grandpa.

"The Marcaboth Women" by Vina Delmar book jacket designed by Philip Grushkin. He studied at Cooper Union under the master book designer George Salter. Like Salter, Mr. Grushkin later taught at Cooper Union, and then elsewhere. His mantra was that hand-lettering felt alive.

Most people in work in the United Kingdom will receive a payslip either weekly or as in most cases today once a month, and normally find their wages paid directly into the bank, once the employer had deducted your tax and National Insurance (for overseas persons - NI is the part that pays for our free health care - it is free for us as we have already paid for it).
For many they will find around 20% - 30% removed in total from their pay packets.
It gets a little more complicated if you have two jobs, normally the second job will be taxed at the full rate, so even more money will be removed from this second pay packet.
In 1974 I took on a second job part time on Sundays and Bank Holidays at washing dishes at a cafe.
Lyons had years before been at its peak, now with the failure to bring in more up to date food, custom was slowly going down year by year, as their older customers died off, few people under 25 would ever even try them.
Food and atmosphere were more in line with the 1950s rather than the 1970s, if you wanted butter for a roll or toast, you were given a circular unwrapped piece on your plate, none of this modern pre-wrapped packaging.
The rate of pay was good for Sunday work etc at more than double my current rate per hour. At the time £2.40 per hour would have paid for 50 letter stamps, today it would work out at around £45 an hour, or as cigarettes ten packets of 20, today it would equal £100 per hour. Not bad for loading a selection of plates into a rack and pushing them into the dishwasher.
The only problem was that all pay matters were controlled by the Great Computer at Cadby Hall in London.
The firm had installed one of the first business computers in Britain and was named Leo. (Years before "Deep Thought" came along).
The only problem was that someone did not have the time to programme LEO with my National Insurance Number.
The result was that my entire pay form my first few weeks were taken as tax. I did have the chance the following year to claim it back, but as I had left Lyons, I don't think the amount was ever credited to my tax account.
At times, the worst letters to see on a British pay slip are 0T, this might not mean Over Time but the dreaded tax letters that mean: You've started a new job and don't have form P45 or haven't provided your employer with relevant information before your first pay day.
D0, is slightly better that only takes 40% out of your pay packet.

One of the reasons that many decide they are better off not working and take benefits from the State.
Surrogate Alcohol Advertisements: Demonstration against MS Dhoni! Pasumai Thaayagam cadres protest at Hotel Park Sheraton, the hotel where MS Dhoni stays.
More than 100 protesters were arrested.
CHENNAI, May 5, 2011: Members of Pasumai Thaayagam movement (founded by Dr. S.Ramadoss) organized a protest at the Hotel Park Sheraton situated in T.T.K Road, Chennai (the hotel where MS Dhoni is currently staying for IPL match). The protest was organized to demand MS Dhoni to avoid the surrogate liquor advertisement and stay away from the liquor advertisement in which he is currently appearing.
A collaboration work from the team for this new series. Weekly, monthly??? Who knows, inspiration will dictate that. The star of the show is my 1/24 scale VW Mars rover and the co-stars are dollar store figurines. Enjoy!

I didn't have to look far for inspiration for this shot. I see people doing this all the time.
This is a composite of a few shots. One of me in my driveway looking at the phone, another on a road and a screenshot overlay of the message I was sending my honey :-)
