This is the Crease Pattern (CP) for my Cross Lap Unit Heart.
The same method as used here for making the strip of paper seemingly intersect itself can be used to fold many other shapes, both from single sheets and as modular assemblies.
This is the second incarnation of the X-files tattoo. This time I used a round liner 3-needle, and it was a lot easier. The first time the only thing I had available was the 4-needle shader, and that didn't work so well.
Here's the picture of the first tattoo, right after I did it.
Was thumbing through my Disney archives when I came across this image. With all the hubub going on regarding the new 'enhanced' Haunted Mansion queue I thought this shot would make a timely Tuesday post.
The Haunted Mansion has always been my favorite attraction at Walt Disney World so I admit that I may be somewhat over protective when it comes to change. While I fully intent to reserve judgement on the enhanced queue until I am able to take it in with my own eyes, I am surprisingly neutral about the whole issue currently. I'm not overly crazy about the new elements, but I'm not offended by them either. I believe I am in the 'dead center' of the road at the moment.
I will however miss the subtleness that the old graveyard scene offered. A few scattered tombstones with whimsical eulogies, backed by some eerie sounds was more than enough to set the perfect prelude for what awaited on the other side of the mansion's door. I suppose subtle just doesn't carry near as much weight as 'interactive' these days.
This shot was taken with Canon's 'fantastic plastic' 50mm f/1.8 - and I give that lens 100% credit here. I liked the look of this image straight out of camera, so little went into it in post. I upped the red saturation a bit as well as added some clarity to the tombstones - but that was it. The dark line across the bottom of the frame was cause by capturing just a slight bit of the fence in my frame.
RIP Old Graveyard
Steadfast & subtle
you stood silent year round
only to be replaced
by a haunted playground :)

In 1879 The City of Sydney Improvement Act was constituted as a result of the findings of the Sydney City and Suburban Sewage and Health Board regarding the poor condition of buildings and sanitation within the City of Sydney due to a lack of proper legislation and codes of building practice. The City of Sydney Improvement Board was appointed to execute the Act. These photographs, taken by private photographers for the Board, show buildings in need of repair or undergoing alterations, as well as views of streets showing the condition of awnings, signboards and walls of shops, hotels and private residences.

I'm taking an Arts and Technologies class this semester; it's called "Storyboarding and Preproduction." It's outside my major, but I thought I'd try it, regardless.
It's enjoyable, but I now know that I couldn't be an ATEC major.
Anyway, throughout the whole semester, we are to produce a mini-story with accompanying storyboard and characters and everything.
I decided to go with Pine and Deciduous. This is their character sheet. I have such a terrible feeling that everyone else in that class will hate me for having such simplistic characters...
Pine and Deciduous are two characters I've had for a while; they're two trees who are friends. They become outwardly sentient after the apocalypse destroys any and all fauna, leaving only the flora to entertain themselves. It would make a really silly webcomic, methinks.

Today is the first of October, the beginning of my month long photo a day (based on Flickr's popular projects 365 and 52 weeks) however my project has a twist most suited to myself - they're all for the beautiful day that is Halloween. This is my autumn of terror (God bless you Londoners circa 1888), you can watch if you want, I need to do this for personal growth. Long live Ireland. Long live my favourite month; October is magic.
Oh and this is my very first levitation attempt!

Just found a cool new site for Serials, if your as hooked on the cliffhangers as much as I am. This site may be worth looking at. It’s called Creepy Classics, here’s a link to the serial. They have lots more things to look at on the home page. Enjoy !

THE GREEN HORNET STRIKES AGAIN. Directed by Ford Beebe and John Rawlins. Warren Hull is handsome and stalwart as The Green Hornet (newspaper owner Britt Reid) in this second chapter-play based on the exploits of the radio crime fighter [who later had his own comic book adventures as well as a TV series]. As in the first serial, The Hornet and his partner Kato (Keye Luke) are busy quashing the anti-social activities of a ruthless syndicate, such as a phony lottery that exploits the poor. Other characters include the lovably gruff Irish reporter Michael Axford (Wade Botelier) and his teasing associate Lowry (Eddie Acuff), Reid's pretty and admiring secretary Lenore (Anne Nagel), and Grogan (Pierre Watkins), who is the low-key but slithery leader of the racketeers. At one point the gangsters hit upon the idea of forcing a wealthy woman to sign checks over to them while a female crony awaits a call from the bank. There's an interesting segment in which ownership of some oil wells depends upon the date of a contract which has been doctored. The Hornet still drives his souped-up sedan and uses his gas gun to put adversaries to sleep. One sequence shows a helpless worker in a plant with terrible safety conditions falling to his death in a smelter; Hull doesn't have much of an emotional reaction to this but one could say that the Hornet was inured to violent death, even of innocents. One of the best cliffhangers shows a car with the struggling Hornet inside rushing onto a bridge that is rapidly rising high up into the air. Using Flight of the Bumblebee as the theme music is one thing, but the serial is also full of snatches of semi-classical music that are inappropriate and only distract from the action. Foranti, the head of a crooked association, is essayed by Jay Michael, an actor who has a colorful and unusual style of playing. Not top-notch, perhaps, but all in all a credible and entertaining serial.
Working to capitalize on their huge success with the Green Hornet serial of 1940, Universal Studios put into production this follow-up serial continuing the masked crusade of wealthy newspaper publisher, crime vigilante Britt Reid/The Green Hornet and his Filipino valet, Kato. Warren Hull took the reigns as the Hornet in this 15 episode chapter play and Keye Luke returns as Kato. The story of the Green Hornet debuted on radio in 1936 and continued until 1952. Other than radio and the two serials released in 1940 and 1941, there were comic books and a television series in the 1960s as well as a feature film version made just last year based on the character!
Created by Fran Striker, who also brought the Lone Ranger to life, the Green Hornet was first heard over Detroit's WXYZ radio station on January 31, 1936, and became an instant sensation. By day Britt Reid, crusading publisher of the Daily Sentinel and great-nephew of the Lone Ranger himself; by night the Green Hornet and his aide Kato fought gangsters and racketeers, all the while pursued by the police who mistakenly thought the Hornet to be as great a menace as the criminals he battled. The Hornet first appeared on movie screens in 1940, with this follow-up produced quickly thereafter. Starring Warren Hull as the Verdant Avenger and Keye Luke as his black-clad assistant, this serial is a fast-paced gem, as the Hornet and Kato battle racket after racket, leading up to a climactic encounter with archcrook Crogan (Pierre Watkins).
Warren Hull’s only non-Columbia serial was The Green Hornet Strikes Again (Universal, 1940). Gordon Jones had starred in the first Green Hornet serial the preceding year, but Hull’s popularity as the dual-identity hero of The Spider’s Web apparently made Universal anxious to enlist him for the similar Green Hornet role. Like the Spider, the Green Hornet was a lone-wolf crimefighter hunted by the police, and, again like the Spider, was secretly a well-respected member of society–Britt Reid, editor of the Daily Sentinel. In the serial, Hull as Reid tackled a city-wide crime syndicate in print (as Sentinel editor) and in person (as the Green Hornet) with the help of his Oriental valet Kato (Keye Luke). The Green Hornet Strikes Again was a good sequel to a good original, and Hull stepped into the Green Hornet part with ease, talking in two differing voices to distinguish between Reid and the Hornet. His slickness was well-suited to sequences that featured Reid quizzing evasive syndicate front men, and he became believably tough and menacing when intimidating gangster in his Green Hornet guise.

Handsome and dashing pirate who "prayed and sinned his way to magnificent adventure on the lawless seas."
I used this for my stereotype project. Hillary was the normal texting stereotype. Easy stuff. I like the angle of this one.
Prepping Nikon Picture Control types for use:
1. Using the Picture Control Utility in View NX2, for each Picture Control create a variant, with the following settings, (adjustments set to Manual in the Picture Control utility):-
Sharpening = auto
Contrast / Brightness = auto
Saturation = auto.
Note you first click the "Manual" button (to enable customisation) then proceed as follows
2. For each Picture Control type, name each (and save) as follows:-
Standard = as "Standard auto" variant
Portrait = "Portrait auto"
Etc. so that you have an auto variant for each Picture Control type, to get you started using them, in VNX2.
You can Export these pre-sets to your camera via SD card, refer to the help (ticked on the schematic.)
Once you have saved all the 'Auto' variants for each Picture Control type, then you can start to process your NEFs, using these saved custom settings. You can do this in the field when out shooting, or post the shoot, in VNX2 / CNX2.
Double click a NEF to bring it into the Edit window - then view the camera applied Picture Control type, then decide if you want to change / experiment.
You will or should notice a dramatic improvement in quality.
You will most often find very little extra sharpening is required.
N.B. Don't start messing around with curve customisation, until you know what you're doing and have built up experience with the customisation I've outlined at the top of this posting.
