Terry has just let me have his older copies of these pulp classics, I plowed through these into the early hours aged 9-10, even failed a grammar school entrance exam writing a book report on Modesty Blaise instead of the required Jack London , Too Kill A Mockingbird, Catcher in The Rye an' all !
This is a couple of pages from the first 300 pages of an illuminated manuscript of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales which was probably written sometime between 1420 and 1440. Scholars disagree on a specific date of publication. The Chaucer was written in England in one hand and the dialect and spelling include a significant of West Midland and North Midland forms. This copy is believed to have been held at Petworth for at least 400 hundred years.
The historic document is displayed in a sealed glass case. Each day the page is turned to reduce any light damage. Some pages have beautiful decoration as well as the amazing hand-written script. Sadly on this day there was little decoration on view. Never-the-less is is a beautiful piece of work.

I just added a vintage NASA sticker to my deck, and it sports the old “spaghetti logo” of 1978.
The small text at the bottom reads:
“NASA FORM 1368A AUG 1978 PREVIOUS EDITION IS OBSOLETE.”
The history of the NASA logo is a bit unusual:
1915 NACA is formed, using winged logo (see below)
1958 NACA is dissolved and NASA is formed, blue circular seal is designed
1959 NASA simplifies the seal for its new logo
1975 NASA has a new logo designed because the old logo is difficult to reproduce with current technology. A mudslinging campaign against the old logo is started to promote the new logo. The term "Meatball logo" is coined as it looks like a blue meatball. The new sleek letters look like spaghetti. So this 1978 sticker is of that era.
1992 NASA, Administrator Daniel Golden longs for the good old days and revives the old logo. He starts a campaign to eradicate the spaghetti from existence, deriding the logotype as "the worm". He launched a "look for the worm" hunt that summer with the most prominent one being on the side of NASA headquarters (where Dan Goldin had his office). When Dan visited an office, people would scurry to tape over any remaining worms that may lie about.
To this day, any use of the worm insignia is highly scrutinized by the Visual Identity Coordinator at NASA Headquarters.
He wasn't aware, but someone up there was sending good vibes upon him and that text he was about to send...
Could it be that he had his back against the entrance of a church?

I spent a couple of hours at Samovar with Emma-Jane for the 39th Worldwide Sketchcrawl. My first visit here, such a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere...I will be back! The latte was good too!
I hadn't seen E-J in 4 years!!!...How did that happen??? We have vowed never to let it happen again.
I wanted to try my Seawhite concertina with ink and Tombow marker to see if it bled through before taking them to Rome in May, I am happy to report that the sketchbook stood up to the marker very well.
For me I like this shot better. :] But I want to rub this message into the person's face, so I chose that shot. xD I know, it's mean... Hahahaha. But whatever. ;))
I also forgot to thank Alesha for the testimonial. :D
My last upload for the week. Going off in a few to my province because it's my uncle's death anniversary. See you on Monday or Sunday. :D <3

This image won't mean anything to most people, but this is all that remains of what had been the best Italian restaurant on the Bolivar Peninsula, until Hurricane Ike blew through in 2008. To the left of this sign is nothing more than a foundation with cracked and curling linoleum tiles, but somehow, amazingly, this sign seems to have made it through unscathed.
My son and I used to visit with my old best friend at his beach house every year, and this place was always one of the favorite places to eat.
Unfortunately the beach house, like Mama Teresa's, is long gone now too.
