The November American Salon arrived today and I just love this magazine! Maybe I'm 'old school' but I love that they still print a 'paper' edition of their magazine! I like sitting down with a cup of tea and flipping through all the latest news in the hair business, new products and beautifully photographed editorial layouts featuring styles by the best in the industry! No saguão fugindo da chuva e testando umas canetinhas S. de ponta de feltro fino (point 88, fine 0,4)
This is a chocolate birthday cake that I made for my friend, Chrissy's birthday. She teaches music and sings in our church choir, so I decided to put musical notes on and around the cake. I thought the microphone would be fun. Cake covered in fondant and microphone made of fondant. I had a little problem with the lettering, but I was in a rush.
I have always had a planner fetish, or maybe its a planner obsession. Always on the lookout for the ultimate system. I have done the palm organizer, the paper planner and the computer application/online planner.
Nothing really seemed to work for me, but I think this might be it. I needed something to keep my dates, but also have a place to take notes. Something that was big enough for me to write on, but small enough to toss into my purse. I really, really like having a note page opposite each week, something I always imagined but never saw in the real world. Here is to an organized, happy 2007.
This is my first, but I don't think my last, Moleskine.

What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind...

Please Note: This is a redesigned booklet. It was redesigned by an Australian called Xerocorp. It therefore has "British-isms", spelling differences from how the CIA would spell some words. The original (with 'American-isms') can be found here: geocities.com/eco-action/crapaganda/xcia.htm
Here is the online text that comes with the redesigned booklet:
The original document on which this one is based was a sabotage manual produced by the United States Central Intelligence Agency for distribution in Nicaragua in the 1980’s. It was hoped that if enough disenfranchised individuals undertook activities that subverted economic stability, the Leftist government would be more easily overthrown. The manual described itself as “a practical guide to... paralyzing the military-industrial complex... without having to use special tools and with minimal risk for the combatant.”
It continues, “Some might think that today’s armed struggle requires military supplies and economic resources only available to states or terorist bands... There is an essential economic infrastructure that any government needs to function, which can easily be disabled or even paralyzed without the use of armaments or costly and advanced equipment, with the small investment of resources and time.
The folowing pages present a series of useful sabotage techniques, the majority of which can be done with simple household tools such as scissors, empty botles, screwdrivers, matches, etc. These measures are extremely safe and without risk for those who use them, as they do not require equipment, skill or specialized activities that can draw attention to the doer.
One combatant can perform many of them, without having to turn to collaborators or having to make a detailed plan beforehand. These are acts that can be done practically in an improvised way every time an occasion presnts itself. Our sacred cause needs to have more men and women join

Explanatory notice about the two former railways at Astor's halt (Ferry Reach Junction) on the north shore of St. George's Island, Bermuda.
Red line is route of Astor's railway (Ferry Reach Railway), about 500 m long. Broad white trail which passes the halt on N. shore is Bermuda Railway Trail. This follows the trackbed of the former standard gauge (1435 mm) Bermuda Railway which ran the length of Bermuda. Astor's house (Ferry Reach House) is the large V-shaped complex at the opposite (S) shore end of the his railway, now apartments. In Parish of St.George's.
(Gauge of Astor's railway is variously said to be 24" (610 mm) gauge, as on this notice, or 18" (457 mm). Since taking this photo I have measured the track gauge in various places where it is still visible and it was consistently 18.25" (464 mm), so notionally 18" (457 mm). Astor's locomotive mentoned on this notice was actually built by the Baldwin company.)

Uthayan ~ Tamil language daily newspaper was started in 1985 in Jaffna, North of Sri Lanka .
A protest was organised by Free Media Movement (FMM), Sri Lanka Tamil Media Alliance (SLTMA), Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF), Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association (SLWJA), Federation of Media Employees Trade Union (SLMETU),Media Movement for Democracy (MMD) and South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA).Nearly 47 journalists from Colombo traveled to Jaffna by A9 highway to show solidarity. They condemned the brutal assault by protesting in front of the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus stand in Jaffna on 16th of August 2011. It was a rare protest for the Peninsula people to witness. “ஏதாவது பிரச்சினையோ?” ~ “Is there any problem?”, “என்ன பிரச்சினை?” ~ “What is the problem?”, “இங்கை என்ன நடக்குது?” ~ “What is happening here?” a few onlookers, passers ~ by and shop keepers asked me while the protest was getting underway on a balmy day in Jaffna. “இங்கை உண்மையா என்ன நடக்குது? ~ “What is actually happening here” asked the owner of a newly built restaurant, while I was running to the restaurant roof top to capture the moments on my camera.
There was chaos as the protesters arrived in Jaffna town with placards in Tamil. Police in the vicinity came closer and asked them not to block the traffic. Verbal argument took place between the Police and the protesters. But the protesters kept chanting and walking. The traffic came to a standstill for a couple of moments, as the protesters took the space on the mot busiest road in Jaffna, the Hospital road while carrying the placards in Tamil ~ “யாழ்ப்பாண ஊடகவியலாளர்களுக்கு யார் பாதுகாப்பு?” ~ “Who is responsible for the lives of the journalists in Jaffna?”, “ஊடக சுதந்திரம் பாதுகாக்கப்பட வேண்டும்” ~ “Media freedom needs to be protected”, “எப்போ முடியும் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் அடக்குமுறைகள்?” ~ “When will the suppression come to an end in Jaffna?”, “ஊடக சுதந்திரத்தைப் பாதுகாக்க ஒன்றுபடுவோம்” ~ Let’s unite to protect media freedom”, “குகநாதனுக்கு விழுந்த அடி உண்மைக்கு விழுந்த பேரிடி”~ Assault on Kuganathan is an assault on the Truth, “ஊடகத்துறைக்கு எதிரான அடக்குமுறையை ஒழிப்போம்” ~ Eradicate Suppression Against the Media” “ஊடகத்தின் மீதான தாக்குதலை உடனே நிறுத்து” ~ “Stop Attacking the Media Immediately”, “ஜனநாயகத்தின் குரலை ஒடுக்காதே” ~ “Don’t Suppress the voice of Democracy”, “தேர்தலில் தோற்றவர்களா மண்டையைப் பிளந்தார்கள்?” ~ “Did they split the head those who lost the elections?”
The protesters chanted “Let Us Write”,“Continue; Continue; Continue to Write”,“Do Not Kill; Do Not Kill; Do Not Kill Us; Do Not Kill the Journalists, Do Not Kill the Democracy”,“Uthyan was attacked, but nobody was arrested”, “Bring the culprit to the courts”“Do Not Attack; Do Not Attack; Do Not Attack the Media”, “Take Your Hands Off Media”“Stop; Stop; Stop the Suppression” “Kuganathan; Kuganthan who wrote the plight of the people”, “Kuganathan was attacked with Iron rods”,“Kuganathan; Kuganathan; Keep Writing, “Lift the Emergency Immediately” in Tamil and Sinhala. There were nearly 350 journalists, activists and politicians participated in the protest according to the organisers.
