Illustration of a gold Japanese kanji (I say "Japanese" but other Chinese-character using languages probably use very similar-looking chracters) of 茶, which is pronounced "cha" and means tea. In Japanese, green tea is お茶 and black tea is 紅茶. Note 茶 is used for both as the root.

Many of "Revolt"'s stickers don't really seem like "art," but I liked this one anyway.

Pan Am ordered 6 B-314 aircraft on July 21, 1936 at a cost of $618,908. each ($11 million today). The first 6 were delivered in 1939, the remainder (six 314A’s) by 1941 of which 3 were sold to BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) for more than 1 million dollars (18 million today).
The Honolulu Clipper was the first 314 to enter regular service on the San Francisco-Hong Kong route beginning in January 1939. A one-way trip on this island-hopping route took over six days to complete. Before that, starting on October 21, 1936 Pan Am flew smaller Martin M-130’s & Sikorsky S-42’s on the Pacific routes. The round trip fare from San Francisco to both Manila and Hong Kong in 1937 was $1,710 (about $26,400 today).
Cruising at 125 to 155 mph the 2400 mile trip from San Francisco to Honolulu could take as long as 19 hours.
A Pan Am Model 314 made the first scheduled non-stop trans-Atlantic flight June 28, 1939.
After less than 3 years of commercial passenger service 9 aircraft were sold to the War Dept. and 3 to BOAC. Pan Am continued to operate our 9 B-314's for the U.S. Navy & AAF.
PAA flew its last Clipper Flying Boat service (not a 314) in 1946, bringing an end to the golden era of the passenger-carrying flying boat, which had begun less than 10 years earlier. The majestic flying boats were replaced by the more utilitarian and faster Douglas DC-4 and Lockheed Constellation land planes that took advantage of the many airports & runways built during WWII.
This topic works just like conservation of regular momentum, but looks very different. I have a question about conservation of regular momentum on the left side. The right side refers to me spinning in a deskchair holding barbells. Instead of mass increasing like it does in the question on the right, rotational inertia increases because I push the barbells out, making them farther from the axis of rotation. Thus no collision is necessary to change an objects mass. That said, momentum is conserved in both situations. The result is that I go faster with barbells tucked in, and slower with them out, something that figure skaters, gymnasts, and divers take advantage of to vary their spin speeds.

A coworker mentioned her mother's pressure cooker the other day, and I remembered that I still had the instruction & recipe book for my mother's pressure cooker. While looking for that, I found the recipe book for her crock pot, with this gem inside.

Nothing About Us Without Us Is For Us was a public art event using obsolete technology to hurl language across Glasgow's River Clyde. Organised and conceived by artists TS Beall and Matt Baker, the project commissioned 15 artists to partner with 18 local organisations. Together, they delivered 6 weeks of activities, culminating in an event on Saturday 28 April, 2012 where over 1500 people sang, shouted, and sailed across the Clyde. Visitors to the Glasgow International Festival were invited to the Govan waterfront to participate in transmissions using human megaphones, siege engines, string-and-cup telephones, messages-in-bottles (‘The Govan Armada’), choral serenades, and more…

The Founders' Wall in Nelson, New Zealand, commemorates the arrival of the earliest arrivals of European settlers to the city, including George Hooper, our ancestor and an early brewer of beer in Nelson. When he arrived the colony was only two years old.
