This pedestrian decided the back of this truck was a good place to park himself and take care of his texting business.
Please Note: This is a redesigned booklet. It was redesigned by an Australian called Xerocorp. It therefore has "British-isms", spelling differences from how the CIA would spell some words. The original (with 'American-isms') can be found here: geocities.com/eco-action/crapaganda/xcia.htm
Here is the online text that comes with the redesigned booklet:
The original document on which this one is based was a sabotage manual produced by the United States Central Intelligence Agency for distribution in Nicaragua in the 1980’s. It was hoped that if enough disenfranchised individuals undertook activities that subverted economic stability, the Leftist government would be more easily overthrown. The manual described itself as “a practical guide to... paralyzing the military-industrial complex... without having to use special tools and with minimal risk for the combatant.”
It continues, “Some might think that today’s armed struggle requires military supplies and economic resources only available to states or terorist bands... There is an essential economic infrastructure that any government needs to function, which can easily be disabled or even paralyzed without the use of armaments or costly and advanced equipment, with the small investment of resources and time.
The folowing pages present a series of useful sabotage techniques, the majority of which can be done with simple household tools such as scissors, empty botles, screwdrivers, matches, etc. These measures are extremely safe and without risk for those who use them, as they do not require equipment, skill or specialized activities that can draw attention to the doer.
One combatant can perform many of them, without having to turn to collaborators or having to make a detailed plan beforehand. These are acts that can be done practically in an improvised way every time an occasion presnts itself. Our sacred cause needs to have more men and women join its ranks in order to perform these sabotage tasks. However, necessary caution should be taken, and only when the task requires it, should another person or persons participate in or have knowledge of a given act.”
While the original document was intended to facilitate subversion of the Nicaraguan government, the techniques may be applied to any other state or ‘military-industrial complex’ with which the individual is aggrieved. NB: not only are some of these activities illegal, but encouraging people to engage in them is also illegal. With this in mind, this text is presented as a snapshot of the cold war mentality of intelligence agencies, and not as a practical guide to acts of sabotage.
EDITOR'S NOTE: I accidentally deleted this photo from my photostream so I had to re-upload it. Sorry for the repost and lost faves. :(
Back in my day castaways had to hand write their messages in hopes of being found. Kids these days...

I felt like trying something different for me and my inspiration is from all the wonderful Zentangles I see in the groups I'm in.
Yet another walt disney hacked image by me. This time it's the all-time classic steamboat willie, the very first Mickey Mouse cartoon ever, in 1928. And it's for this reason that copyrights now last for ... 70 years ... after the death of the person who created it. Ridiculous.
Fortunately, satire has its own special rules, and since Disney chose to get involved in politics, they're now fair game.
I was a bit worried about how I was going to change the text, because it doesn't really look like a standard font. More like hand lettering to me. I might have been able to find something like it, but fortunately, the poster already had the letters I needed. I chopped the tips off of the W, and the bottom arm off the E in "steam". The I and T are just copied directly from other words.
"Swiftboat" is a reference to swiftboating, in case you didn't already know that. "Willie" could easily refer to Bill Clinton...
Terminator is just awesome. You start with a pretty basic terminal and yo keep adding more and more terminals while arranging them they way you wish.

It's quite a geeky thing to see
Taking a break from the equine sketches mini-series (which will be resumed later) I am offering this playful page filler incorporating text and imagery. It's just fun (I hope), atleast it was to produce. Enjoy! I love Flickr and all the interactive fun it offers. Peace and goodwill to all Flickr users (even though it's not Christmas). Julian.
I've been using this desktop setup for a few months now. Removed most of the clutter (alot of the geektool scripts didn't survive the upgrade to SL).

I've been thinking about getting dragthing to make the icons on the left an actual dock as opposed to simply alias icns. Anyone else use dragthing? Like? Dislike?
From the Fallout Shelter Handbook, 1962. The copy of text that accompanies this photo (on following page):
"Card playing is a pastime that can easily occupy the whole family. Note also the variety of equipment and the neat compactness in this Permco Steel Fallout shelter photo."
Check out the fold-out bed to the left of Dad. I would love to see the "after" shot to this "before" after about two weeks of close quarters living.

Here's this year's Xmas card/self-promo piece that I sent out to everyone. I was going for an old boxing poster look.
I laid out the card and all the copy in InDesign (because it handles text much more easily than Photoshop). It was fun coming up with the old-timey text and phrases.
Once I got the layout looking the way I wanted, I imported it into Photoshop, where I drew and colored the characters on the graphic tablet. I also used the halftone filter to give it a printed look. Lastly I added the aging effects.
I guess the aging effects were successful-- my boss thought his wife had actually bent the top right corner of the card when taking it out of the envelope!
