On March 11, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced that airline passengers have rated LaGuardia Airport as best in its class, a stunning reversal of fortunes for an airport that five years was deemed the worst in the nation. The passengers were surveyed throughout 2023 for the highly regarded Airport Service Quality (ASQ) by the Airports Council International (ACI).
The airport earned an overall passenger satisfaction score of 4.24 out of 5, which was 20 percent higher than in its score in 2018, when passengers rated LaGuardia as the worst airport in North America. As a result, LaGuardia was named ASQ’s “Best Airport of 25 to 40 Million Passengers in North America” in 2023. The ASQ award is based on direct assessments from those who count most: passenger opinions.
Since LaGuardia's new terminals and passenger facilities opened, the airport has won awards such as best new airport terminal in the world from UNESCO's Prix Versailles honor for Terminal B, and a five stars from Skytrax, which made Terminal B only one of two airport terminals in the world to receive Skytrax's highest rating.
More than 32 million passengers used LaGuardia in 2023, which was the airport’s busiest year ever.
