Love the terminal, but those new access ramps from certain angles look like there's a tube up the eagle's butt. Fortunately there are two ramps and they are placed closer to the wings so it's not all that bad...
At its opening, Terminal 1 was the largest airport passenger terminal building, with a total gross floor area of 550,000 m². It briefly conceded the status to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (563,000 m²) when the latter opened on 15 September 2006, but reclaimed the title when the East Hall was expanded, bringing the total area to its current size (the East Hall expansion included a 39,000 m² expansion to SkyMart, a shopping mall). Terminal 1's title as the world's largest was surrendered to Beijing's airport's Terminal 3 on 29 February 2008.

My first encounter with the Metro system of Mexico City was at the station which serves the airport, Terminal Aérea.
Built in 1939, designed by Albert Lakeman, the former Empire Terminal is an Art Moderne building. Originally a terminal for Imperial Airways, this was the nexus point for passengers, mail and freight, being on a main road, with Victoria Coach Station over the road, and Victoria Station behind - where everything could be loaded onto a rail service direct to Southampton and the Imperial's flying boats.
It is now home to the National Audit Office.
