*4/2009 update -- Depot Place has been erased, without a trace. It ran a half block south of 15th Place, which has also been erased.

The City Council’s Transportation Committee on Monday approved a measure that would expand the boundaries of the new Maxwell Street market because of complaints by a number of merchants about their location.
Under the measure, the market, which reopened along Canal Street last September, would stretch north to Taylor Street from Roosevelt Road, and extend another half block south to Depot Place, from 15th Place. Roosevelt Road would not be closed off.
City officials said they hope to have the expansion complete in six months.
Grand Central Terminal was opened in 1913 and has 44 platforms and 67 tracks.
Had 5 middle of the day (10am-3pm busiest time of the day) hours to get round NY before moving on, so it was a rush to get round and the image quality suffered accordingly. Meaning I sadly ended up with a few ubiquitous Lammy stock type tourist
images.
Amtrak 798 makes a backup move in the terminal trackage at Washington Union Station. The switcher was a nice break from commuter equipment and Amfleets.
Elevated view of the west side of the platform area as well as the 17-story main building and offices, baggage building, and mail building in the background.
Even this picture cannot emphasize just how massive this terminal once was. In addition to the buildings visible here, the terminal included a Railway Express Agency building, an ice house, a Pullman service facility, a coach yard and shop, and a generating station. The latter were demolished by the New York Central in 1966 to reduce operating costs of the terminal.
I almost posted another night image , but I may fall asleep myself looking at my photostream. So here is London and new Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport - London.

NS 1072 leads the 256 Roadrailer through Sadorus. To my surprise, the thing had slowed right on down. I had been expecting to have to really put my foot down to stay ahead for another shot or two, but then it wasn't really necessary. Turns out 32N was stopped just ahead of it, and CN had revoked NS control of the Tolono diamond just minutes after giving it to them. They just kept lining CN trains through the diamond for ages and got 256 and 32N stuck for quite some time. Got a chance for some long distance glamour shots though, so that was fun. Wacky day out!
Un peu rude pour eux, l'exercice de perspective. A part quelques apprentis très doués et intéressés, pas franchement enthousiastes de réaliser une usine (production et stokage + parking) en architecture... Croquis de fin de cours à la serpe...

I never get tired of wandering around Seattle's Fishermen's Terminal, where TV's Deadliest Catch moor their boats. Old and new, there's always something interesting to look at. And worthy of a photo or two!

Having made the effort to travel all the way out to Blackwell for the china clays Dave & I decided that as Dalston was not too far a diversion on our trip home that we would stop off and get a shot or two of the the final arrival and departure from the oil terminal of the three morning trips of 6 tanks each.
A nailed on 70 for this these days, unfortunately, but the rain appeared to be easing off so we went for it.
More unfortunately the arrival of the 07.45 loaded tanks ex Carlisle Yard coincided with yet another opening of the clouds and we got another soaking. By this point I couldn't have got any wetter so I persevered!

Chicago Terminal G48 rolls across Irving Park Road on CP's C&M leads to Bensenville on a warm and mostly sunny evening on the deck.
While enjoying a glass of bourbon and grilling some chicken for dinner, the plucky GP10 and a handful of cars for the CP caused me to take a frame or two.
