Don't overdo it, buddy. It can happen to anyone - even expertly engineered neo-athletes.

Tricycle Drivers waiting for Passengers at a Tricycle Terminal Bacolod City, Philippines.

The night of my first and only day chasing UP 4014, I headed down to Denver to crash with a friend before facing the long drive back to Chicago. In the morning and early afternoon, I had barely just enough time to explore downtown Denver a bit- it was my first time there, and I'll definitely be back! Naturally, the first logical stop was Union Station.

Over the past several years or so, Denver Union Station has been transformed into a public space for Denverites to eat, drink, shop and meet, whether they're catching trains at the station's brand-new platforms or not. The former concourse really embodies the concept of train station as public meeting place, and it has proven very popular. The former ticket windows are now home to the Terminal Bar, which appears to be doing a pretty brisk business for an early Sunday afternoon.

The new Gerald Desmond suspension Bridge can clearly be seen rising in the distance behind the green Vincent Thomas Bridge in this photo taken at 89mm from Deane Dana Friendship Park in San Pedro, CA. 01-11-20.

The new bridge was originally scheduled to open in 2019 but should open this year.

I've been watching (and photographing) the steady growth of the new suspension bridge for most of the past decade, and it's really amazing how now it can be seen from all over San Pedro and Long Beach on the other side of the island.

Please enjoy an image of Fishermen’s Terminal, located along Lake Washington Canal in Seattle. This was taken during the one-day intermission of Seattle’s “Fog Affair” last month when the sun came out and yielded a very beautiful blue hour that transitioned into a very clear night, only to be accosted by the fog again a few hours later!

If you’re interested, you can now enjoy a slideshow of 16 images from Seattle’s “Fog Affair” right here!

There are several images there that have not been posted here on my photostream.

After falling a little short on my last attempt to build a micro freight terminal, I decided to give it another try. This time, I used a smaller scale (1:305 instead of 1:200) and narrowed the scope a little so that I could include all of the details that were missing from the first one.

This diorama is a section of a small, manned freight terminal, designed to handle both containerized and RO-RO cargo. A Panamax class container ship is docked at the quay and is ready to be unloaded. In the staging areas of the terminal are the cargo from a recently unloaded RO-RO ship, including a fleet of new cars and some heavy equipment (including a few ultra-class, 400-ton mining trucks). Yard trucks and reach stackers are busy moving containers around the yard, and there are two fully loaded freight trains on the rail spurs ready to pull out.

I had fun setting up the best perspective I thought worked for this image, along the ferry terminal walkway in Seattle. Getting up early and beating the traffic into Seattle was planned, but this shot was just pure luck, ok and some skills and good equipment.

I love the study of shadow and light and how well it can be used in a photo to demand attention from its onlookers.

The Main Terminal Building and Baggage Building of Central Terminal.

The magnificent Winold Reiss glass-tile murals in Union Terminal's main entry are part of what is thought to be the nation's largest-ever art commission at the time. Twenty-two feet high, the and the men and women on them soar overhead, simultaneously leading the eye and encouraging it to linger on the artwork.

As you can probably guess, the murals follow Cincinnati's progress on the right, and the nation's on the left. Note also the inclusion of various forms of transportation and how they change over the years.

In my opinion, these murals alone are worth stopping by the Terminal to see!

S. Canal Street and W. Depot Place

*4/2009 update -- Depot Place has been erased, without a trace. It ran a half block south of 15th Place, which has also been erased.

The City Council’s Transportation Committee on Monday approved a measure that would expand the boundaries of the new Maxwell Street market because of complaints by a number of merchants about their location.

Under the measure, the market, which reopened along Canal Street last September, would stretch north to Taylor Street from Roosevelt Road, and extend another half block south to Depot Place, from 15th Place. Roosevelt Road would not be closed off.

City officials said they hope to have the expansion complete in six months.
