Some 20 km further on, the Westerschelde tunnel opened for traffic on 14 March 2003. Since then the ferry service between Vlissingen and Breskens operates only for pedestrians and bicycles/scooters. The journey across by ferry takes about 20 minutes.
Motor vehicles of course now use the Westerschelde tunnel between Terneuzen and Ellewoutsdijk

The little terminal at this rural Virginia airport.
My description of terminal makes it sound a bit grander than it really is. Probably more like a landing stage. Nonetheless a crossing to Knott End has existed since 1841 with this format of the service starting in the 1890's.
On 8 Oct 21, the Terminal Railroad pulled a couple rare mileage excursions around the St Louis metro area, hosted by the St Louis chapter of the NRHS. Here the train is spinning on the Poplar Street wye, preparing to shove back into St Louis Union Station.
The Illinois Terminal train is crossing Mindale hump, so named because it rises up and over the Ill. Rt 122 and the GM&O line from Bloomington to Jacksonville to Roodhouse line in the middle of the flat land corn fields.

Picture was taken in the conjunction between terminals. Little post processing with Topaz adjust. Long exposure was required to get all light effects on one picture.

I was so inspired by my mom's idea of seeing a picture in Explore and then hopping in the car to go see the sight for herself - in her case it was to see poppies growing on the hills in Southern California www.flickr.com/photos/75885098@N05/32440176737/in/datepos... - that I wanted to do something similar myself.
I didn't find anything that fit the bill so my mom then suggested I go to Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, a place we both loved when she came to visit. So, George and I hopped in the car and drove there on a day, alas, when the Dutch Eating Place was closed. It's an Amish diner that serves turkey dinners. Their mashed potatoes and gravy are worth an hour drive just on their own. The rest of the market is the icing on the cake. Or the gravy on the potatoes. :-)

Fisherman's Terminal is home to much of Seattle's smaller fishing boats. In early spring the terminal is empty as the boats head for Alaska, but this time if year they're all safely in the harbor.
