Bak Kut Teh- The name literally translates as "meat bone tea", and, at its simplest, consists of meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices (including star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui, fennel seeds and garlic) for hours. However, additional ingredients may include offal, varieties of mushroom, choy sum, and pieces of dried tofu or fried tofu puffs. Additional Chinese herbs may include yu zhu (rhizome of Solomon's Seal) and ju zhi (buckthorn fruit), which give the soup a sweeter, slightly stronger flavor. Light and dark soy sauce are also added to the soup during cooking, with varying amounts depending on the variant. Garnishings include chopped coriander or green onions and a sprinkling of fried shallots.
One of my favoriets in asian cuisine not real chinese but more a dish of Malaysia and Singapore.
The foto above is with porkfeet and was very good also feet goes well with the ribs,some bak kut tehs are even with pork intestines with it.
1kg porkribs
2 litres water
1 whole garlic bulb
2 pieces of sugar cane about 10 cm long
few pieces of solomons seal
1 tablespoon kei chee ( wolfberries )
2 slices kum chor ( licorice root )
1 piece star anise
2 cm piece cinemon stick
2 tsp crushed peppercorns
1 stalk coriander leaves chopped
1 fresh red chili
seasoning
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 teaspoon salt
Boil porkribs in hot water for 5 minutes rins to remove scum.
Scrub skin of sugarcane pieces wash and cut in halves,rinse garlic bulb wolfsberries and solomons seal.
Bring 2 liter water to a boil and add the ribs,garlic,sugar cane,licorice root,wolfsberries,solomons seal and spices,add dark soysauce and bring to a boil for 5 minutes
lower flame and let simmer for 1 hout until meat is tender,add the red chilli if used.
Add light soy sauce and salt according to taste.
Sprinkle soup with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

Soy sauce (usually light soy sauce, but dark soy sauce is also offered sometimes) is preferred as a condiment, with which chopped chilli padi and minced garlic is taken together. Chinese tea of various kinds is also usually served in the belief that it dilutes or dissolves the copious amount of fat consumed in this pork-laden dish. Bak kut teh is typically a famous morning meal. The Hokkien and Teochew are traditionally tea-drinking cultures and this aspect runs deep in their cuisines.
This shot is a special request from Phoenix who has generously presented me with bak kut teh herbs and spices from Hong Kong. She would like to see my photographic interpretation of bak kut teh, a popular pork rib tea soup in Malaysia, Singapore, mainland China, Taiwan, and even Indonesia and Thailand.
Herbs and spices used are female ginseng (Angelica Sinensis), angular Solomon's-seal (Polygonatum Odoratum), wolfberries or goji berries (Fructus Lycii), poor man's ginseng (Codonopsis Pilosula), Chinese liquorice (Radix Glycyrrhizae), ligusticum root (Rhizoma Ligustici), dried root of Panax ginseng, star anise, cinnamon, and white pepper.
This bak kut teh is shot in a handblown glass bowl by a renown Swedish glass artist Ebba von Wachenfeldt whose glassworks have been commissioned by 19 Glas and Sweden's 2010 Restaurant of the Year Frantzén/Lindeberg.

They are overall today. I walked over 1000m to feed all. It is raining and here are around 10°C degrees Celsius. A dog owner comes with two big French Bulldogs, but they are peacefully. Some joggers are running here. A teen gang is under teh Blue Wonder bridge beside poo and I am asking me what they do want there. They are meeting few Arabs and the Arabs leaving again and let them alone again. The young swan asked me, what his parents are doing. I said that it is all ok with them. He was waving with his tail and smiled with his eyes.
So I took a trip back to my sci-fi obsessed childhood and drew a spaceship at work. I just finished off and gave it a nice inked border. although the ink i'm using at the moment is shit.

Teh tarik (literally pulled tea or 拉茶 in Mandarin) is a hot tea beverage which can be commonly found in restaurants, outdoor stalls and kopi tiams in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Its name is derived from the pouring process of "pulling" the drink during preparation. It is made from black tea and condensed milk.
