It was colours galore at the Daicon - Anime festival in Cyberjaya. Anime is a popular japanese visual art. Their fans are known to dress as their fav characters in the popular cartoon series. These fans are called cosplay.
Though not a fan of anime, I jumped at the opportunity to go watch them and shoot these lovely characters. The highlight of the day was watching the Mario brothers prancing around. I used to play the game when I was a kid ;p Still would! ;p
She very young and cute.

Talented photographer Karyn Mounsey has been a wonderful friend and travel buddy of mine for many years. She's climbed Mt. Whitney, White Mountain peak, Half Dome, and has hiked most of the Sierra passes. She also writes some of the funniest song parodies you can imagine, and we have both mastered Elmer Fudd-speak to a tee. Hence, we don't go on road trips, we go on "woad twips."
We've covered thousands of miles together, much of it in her beloved 4Runner, McGyver. We even rescued a lost dog on a backroad near Shirley Meadows and got him to the Kernville Fire Station where, hopefully, "Lucky" found his people or a new home. We've had countless steaks at McNalley's in Fairview-on-the-Kern, tackled some very rocky roads, forded a few deep streams and laughed hysterically many a time at our predicament.
Once, I was out of the truck, guiding her through a rough spot with huge ruts on Geringer Grade and although she had McGyver up on three wheels at one point, she got through fine, didn't even need 4WD. That said, she may never forgive me for pointing down some scary 4x4 road and saying, "Let's go that way!" But at least now, Gypsy and I can give her a ride for a change and trust me, she will get even! LOL...
Although she has an admitted lupine fetish, I can recall on our earliest wildflower treks to the Sierra that she would talk about Goat's Beard a lot. It seemed that every large dandelion-like puff ball we saw, she'd point and call out "Goat's Beard!" Given that we were often driving quickly down some dusty back road at the time, I'm not sure they were all Goat's Beards, but it was fun game to try and spot them.
I found many Goat's Beards in my Yosemite travels recently. Most were still in bud or bloom, but a few had gone to seed. So here's a special Goat's Beard for you, Karyn. I treasure your friendship beyond measure and look forward to many more adventures with you.

Had an amazingly fun shoot with the beautiful and very talented Fischer Y. a recent Dartmouth grad. She braved the ridiculously hot and humid New Hampshire summer and we founds some amazing places to shoot around the Dartmouth College campus.
I had a blast! Almost every shot was great. It was a pleasure working with someone so talented and natural in front of the camera.

Musicians that could really play ... and added to the atmosphere at Guell Park in Barcelona, Spain '08
Born in a Normandy noble family, French origin Théodose Achille Louis Vicomte du Moncel (1821-1884) was born in Paris. Apart from being a talented illustrator and engraver, he was known primarily as an expert in electrical science and mathematics. At a young age (1844), he made a trip in Greece, drawing ancient sites, monuments and cities with great ease. Starting from Venice in November 1843, his journey continues to Istanbul after Greece; On the way back, he stops in Malta, Messina and Naples.
Perfectly large stone engravings covering the whole route of his journey are published in an expensive album; In a different publication, 18 wooden engravings were collected from a land trip from Athens to Nafplion, and 14 stone engravings showing themes from Athens in a separate publication in guinea. The engravings, all drawn by Du Moncel himself, are accompanied by explanatory texts and descriptions of appearances; The human images, which decorate the subjects as pleasant decorative details, were performed by another artist in almost all of the engravings. He displays his paintings on his eastern journey regularly at Du Moncel Paris at annual Hall fairs (1846-1851) and sells to meet his material needs.
Since 1846, he worked as an electrical engineer in a government department, wrote research and articles on electrical science, a member of the Academy of Sciences, one of the founding members of the Société Nationale des Sciences Naturelles et Μathématiques de Cherbourg, and an officer with the Legion d 'Honneur engagement.
Du Moncel is a representative of the last trend of European artists who are eager to recognize the ruins of the ancient universe on site. It completes the visual themes and travel notes of the contemporary reality journeys in the places it travels with a more pleasant detail and with negative comments; The memory of recent historical events, if not reflected in the patterns, is at least marked by explanatory texts.
Du Moncel proves his own observations of the monuments, also by referring to ancient Greek literature works and texts of older trusted travelers (R. Chandler, J. Stuart, N. Revett, FCHL Pouqueville, Ch. Wordworth, Expédition Scientifique de Morée). However, as Du Moncel derives from the Restoration Period of France, its commitment to the European model, which is hostile to all the ideas of liberalism, contributes to the negative perception of contemporary Greek reality. The fact that the journey is full of disabilities, the strangeness and unusualness of the environment, and the way of living differently are interpreted negatively and ironically. Despite this, the patterns he draws clearly make monuments that are in perfect harmony with the natural environment.
