I was tagged by Karin (Room With A View) and so I'm listing random things about me.

1. I love cats. (DUH!) But I also really love dogs and wish I had a bunch of them.

2. My favorite color is green.

3. I'm a shopaholic and I love fashion, perfume, and jewelry, even though I try not to (and can't) get too into them. But I read Vogue every month!

4. My favorite movies include Chinatown, The Elephant Man, and Mean Streets, all of which I went to see when they first came out for five nights in a row (!).

5. I gobble up murder mysteries like junk food. My most recent favorites are all dark and moody Scandinavian authors and in particular, Henning Mankell. I also love the "Scottish noir" authors such as Val McDermid, Ian Rankin, and Denise Mina.

6. I have written a book about horror movies and once had a full mock-up of my head made to be devoured by a werewolf in a sub-B-horror film. You can see it in my set of pictures of me here on Flickr.

7. I love to travel; so far my favorite places are Bergen, Norway, and Istanbul, Turkey.

8. I won a university teaching award funded by Enron! It even came with a plaque but I don't display it in my office anymore, it's too embarrassing.

9. My first cat was named Plushie and he was born when I was. We grew up together. He was an all-gray (blue) cat and to this day those are still my favorites.

10. My mom and dad are my best friends.

11. My favorite artists are all from the Northern European Renaissance and my most favorite one of all is Rogier van der Weyden. His paintings have sometimes brought me to tears. In more recent art, I love Francis Bacon.

12. I grew up singing alto in choir, playing viola, and piano, and classical music is very important to me. I go to the opera regularly.

13. One of my books has been translated into 14 languages, wth Latvian being the most recent!

14. I'm a Leo (I'm running out of things to say, can you tell?).

15. My favorite food is cheese, especially goat cheese, sheep's-milk cheese, and every kind of blue cheese. I could live on cheese.

16. When I visited Australia, my favorite thing there was the birds--blue fairy wrens, colorful parrots, and humorous cockatoos.

1. When I was a kid I had vampire fangs! Really! My two eye-teeth were little vampire fangs, I loved them! Got braces later on, now I have perfectly straight teeth.

2. I’ve never drank a beer or even tasted one.

3. I’m married to my best friend. When I first met my husband I was dating his cousin, I fixed him up with my cousin and we double dated for a while. Then we both broke up with the cousins. Jeff and I stayed good friends, he got engaged to someone else, so did I. Years later both weddings were called off, Jeff and I got back in touch with each other, fell in love, got married, and we been happily married for 29 years.

4. I love to cut grass! I ride around on my John Deere in the summer and have a blast.

5. I have the best job in the world. I teach 4th grade.

6. I have two sons who are as different as night and day. My oldest loves to race 4-wheelers and go mud riding. My youngest loves to paint, draw, and do anything creative.

7. I love to act! I’ve been in several plays for our community theater. My favorite role was M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias.

8. I love to travel! I’ve planned several educational tours for my students and young people at church. I take a group of 4th and 5th graders to Washington D.C. every other year, and I’m taking a group of high school students to Italy for spring break.

9. I love to garden and work in the yard.

10. I’m the middle child. So I’m very well adjusted and have no issues! ☺

11. I love to read.

12. I love to learn new things. I’m learning something new everyday in “Photography World.”

13. I love to hike. My husband, some friends, and I hike 3 miles in the woods near our house 3 or 4 times a week.

Depois desse top cheguei em algumas conclusões:

- Prefiro os importados (OOOOI, quem não prefere? E tá, eu já sabia que eu preferia!)

- E desses importados, achei que a minha marca preferida era a OPI, mas no Top percebe-se que coloquei 3 Orly! Então amo a OPI, mas esse ano quem me ganhou foi a Orly ok?

- Gosto de um brilho! (Na outra vida eu acho que fui Drag Queen! haha)

- Quero as minhas unhas lindas de volta! (Gente, eu olhei as fotos antigas e fiquei namorando com saudade!)

- Se me perguntarem quais esmaltes estão no meu top 15 mês que vem, tenho certeza que esquecerei metade dos que coloquei aí, pq sou uma esclerosada e tenho coração mole!

1- I have been wearing eye glasses since i was only 5 :D

2- I think feet are important, too important...The expression of your feet is honest and true...

3- I look people in the eye, not afraid to do so, but cats on the other hand freak me out!!

4- I eat green, well and basically eveything else except for a few, but I can eat any form of spinach and broccoli, zucchini has been my favourite for a long long time. Along with that any medit. fish is a favourite meal...

5- I am addicted to language learning, funny I had no idea growing up, although I was ain a french catholic school, I learned English relatively earlier than my peers, I learned coptic all by myself, forgot it all bymyself, and then I found out I needed to learn Italian, so I did and then I understood I really have a talent and a thing for languages, so I decided to take on german. It's a flexibility and tolerance exercise...

6- I am a liberal person, politically and generally, I don't believe in labels, all things belong to God, and all people are entitled to a second chance as long as they live and learn...

7- I only discovered my passion for photgraphy at the age of 16!!

8- I am a girl who has discovered earlier that she cannot lock herself in a pattern of dos and donts therefore I am always willing to try something else. Then at some point I might finally understand how to make use of my potentials.

9- I am social and friendly but at some point I am also shy and awkward, however I can always be what I need to be If that's how I feel :D

10- As a single woman raised by a single woman, I am independent and feisty...Even if that my looks say otherwise...

I wanted to share a screenshot of an incredible website that I recently found that uses the Flickr technology to create a virtual galaxy of photos from Flickr tags.

Go the site, enter any "tag" word (such as flower, or armadillo or BRAVO), let the app load and then click on the sun to see hundreds of Flickr photos that were tagged with the tag you entered displayed in a rotating planet of photos.

You can click on any of the photos to see them larger and if you click a second time, the design allows you to visit the photo on Flickr. You can also use your mouse to make the "planet" larger or smaller.

I have no affiliation with the site whatsoever, but I think it is one of the most intriguing photo sites I've ever seen.

Highly recommended.

- I am very picky about mold. The eyes should be the first thing you notice, followed by full pouty lips. The nose should only be noted for its average-ness.

1. I once ate a 5 pound steak and all the trimmings in less than an hour to get the whole meal for free.

TRUE. Denver,CO 1994

3. I broke my arm so severely in a biking accident at age 13, that I was put in traction and bedridden for 6 weeks/

TRUE. I still can't extend my left arm all the way and that kept me from military service.

4. I played college football.

TRUE. Played for Emory & Henry in the early 1980's.

5. Rod Stewart once shot me the bird from a moving limousine.

TRUE. I was late for a date, ran a red light near the Roanoke Civic Center and cut a limo off. He pulled up beside me and Rod Stewart rolled down his window and flipped me off... Hilarious.

2. I was once interrogated and subsequently released by the local police in a stalking case involving a local tv news anchor.

FALSE. There was a local TV anchor who I couldn't get enough of, she was pretty and always flubbed her lines and I made every attempt to watch her broadcast's. She did have a stalker and it made national news.... my co workers took every paper article, substituted my name and posted them in my locker....awesome!

1. I speak Italian as well as English

2. I love to read, my favourite books are the Sisters of the Quantock Hills series.

3. I have never spent an Easter at home

6. I walk or ride my bike everywhere, I detest driving.

7. I am fascinated by history but only from the late 1700's onwards, medieval times freak me out.

8. I have been playing the piano for over ten years, it is my favourite hobby.

9. I am addicted to home design and fashion blogs.

10.I really want to visit England and America just to see what all the fuss is about.

1. When I was in 4th or 5th grade, a classmate asked me why I had brown hair (I had waay lighter brown hair then). I answered (jokingly), “I was born in London.” She actually believed me.

2. I'm a preschool teacher. My 5-year old girls sometimes call me "Teacher Krabby Patty" or "Teacher Partyfats." Patience is my surname. Hehe.

3. I feel uncomfortable with the attention that comes with dressing nicely.

4. I stopped eating red meat February 2007 because a pig was slaughtered right before my eyes.

5. I believe that people need at least four hugs a day. Hugs are healthy.

6. I enjoy Do-It-Yourself stuff. I plan to DIY my own wedding. Gulp.

7. I did not have a Barbie doll until I was ten years old. But I had a deck of Marvel superhero cards, pog and a reliable bicycle growing up.

8. I can only swim if I’m wearing goggles. Otherwise, I drown.

9. I make my own mini-books.

10. And I own less than 11 pairs of shoes. Never more than 15. Sometimes I wonder if I'm really a girl. Haha.

I’ve been tagged by the sweetest mathyld/encore petite for 16 things.

1.This picture of Lucia and me was taken about 12 years ago in West Virginia, where we lived at the time.

2.I was the only woman, only American on a construction/high end interior renovation crew in NYC for 4 years.

3.When not listing to NPR or daylong marathons of archived This American Life episodes, I watch excessive amounts of Internet movies and TV while crafting.

4.I would probably like to deny this but when alone and watching excessive amounts of internet TV and movies (which I anyway already feel really guilty for doing) I am often drawn in direct opposition to super depressing foreign movies and the worst of the worst reality shows like The Biggest Loser and The Bachelor.

5. I’m going to regret writing that, I am a chronic over sharer!

6.When Lucia was two/three I plainly told her that juice with artificial colors/tons of sugar was called “crap-ass juice”. It instantly became part of our vocabulary. She unknowingly would ask for it by name in bodegas…come home from play dates reporting that her friend (…) got to drink (and let her have) “crap ass juice” with big smiles!

7.I graduated early from high school but only because I doubled up on classes to do so.

8.I’m impatient but mask this under helpfulness…I carried Lucia in a snuggly, backpack or on my shoulders until she was 4. Her nickname was “princess Lucia may her feet never touch the ground”

9.I don’t mind washing dishes.

10.I got married in 1993 when I was 21 dressed a bit like Glenda the good witch with white fishnets and high platform shoes that I felt evoked bowling balls in a fancy gallery in Soho.

11.The book Heat inspired me (a former vegetarian) to take on braising meat. I would love love love to take cooking classes.

12.A past boyfriend once won me back pretty much with two songs.

13. I have three wonderful sisters.

14. I am the worst to be with on a long bus or train ride as I find it irresistible to torture my (held) captive companion with off key songs, pokes and pretend snot hanging from my nose, it’s true.

15. I have no talent for any sport or musical instrument and I don’t know how to knit, type or crochet.

16.Oh let’s just use this last spot for a big hooray for our new president. Hooray!

1. Currently working as a cashier. It's...ok.

2. I like to upload things & have my stream in even numbers, so expect an odd numbered photo update soon ;3

3. I've been collecting since 2003 with wave 2 My scene Barbie as my first doll of my own. My friend actually bought it for me and brought it to school for me the next day.

4. When I was in 4th grade, I thought glasses & braces were the coolest thing ever and wish for them. well, got my wish XD though I'm not so sure I'd make the same wish again.

5. I've lived in several places around the world as a kid, such as Amsterdam & Suriname before we lived in America again.

6. I've always wanted long hair. As a kid I'd draw myself with it ;3

7. I used to be obsessed with mermaids. When we lived in Suriname I would draw them all the time.

8. I aspire to be either a psychologist, photo journalist or a comedian.

9. I can enjoy most kinds of music though I stick to pop usually, no matter what the language.

10. I often talk myself out of risk because I'm scared of taking chances. I'm thinking that has something to do with my Aspergers.

11. I've been friends with my group of online friends since as early as 2006 and consider them very close ones.I even text & talk on the phone with my closest ones!

12. I use a nightlight. But in my defense it lights up the whole room and the surrounding areas so its really more of an evening light.

13. My first memories are of the Beauty & the Beast doll commercial.

14. As a child I often would run into rooms when I heard the all too familiar sound of a doll commercial.

15. I sang throughout middle & high school as a soprano. I made all county chorus in middle school. I lost my passion when my voice changed senior year of HS.

16. Besides the chosen careers above, I really most want to be an author. I just need more drive.

17. I'm in the process of going back to college to finish as I never did before since we moved when my mother got re-married.

18. I didn't get my first job until the week after my 21st birthday. That was also a cashier.

19. Two of my best friends are my second cousins and I have a few close HS friends that I still talk to.

20. I'm an ANTM addict, as well as Nikita & Hellcats. But I really love comedy central and shows on Oxygen like re-runs of 'Living Single'.

21. I try to always look for the positive aspects of life.

22. I'm not a fan of getting dirty. When I was little I wouldn't go outside to play for fear of getting dirty, though that also had something to do with my pollen allergies.

Dolls: I honestly obsess over different dolls like every day... but I was (and still am) stanning for Bratz! I also had a really weird like...hour long troll stanning moment...oh and I was (and still am hehe) obsessed with mah gurlll India Masters (Rock Angelz Yasmin with extensions) <3

TV shows: I really didn't watch a lot of shows in March...I was obsessed over the Bratz tv series for a minute though :P

Music: I had a major Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks moment which is super unusual for me but ya know, loves it X) I was also obsessed with Madonna for a second because I downloaded her entire discography..oh and I was loving the Bratz music mhmmm #SoGood hehe. I was also loving Amber Beotch, Kira Wang,Raquelle,and Jazzie hehe. I stanned for fame era gaga for a bit...and I was obsessed with Kylie Minogue's "x" album for a bit :P

Movies: I was loving the St.Trinians movies tbh...oh and Wild Child...basically any girly fun movies :P

Books: none lol

Products: Pantene hunty, as usual.

Food: I was living for subway but after eating it like every day for a week the thought of it just makes me want to puke hehe
