Typography made by our A2 Applied Art and Design Students who are currently developing experimental typography for their Good Luck Card Project

This little sign was in the back hall of a downtown Spokane, WA US department store. The designer had to use the store logo but had an understanding of typography. Spokane is in the far US, a small city in the rocky mountains, yet everywhere there was interesting signage influenced by contemorary typography.

I dont know the meaning though..

Grinding down some tiles, I saw some great colours coming out of the powder byproduct. Call me mad but I decided to see how some type would look with it.

The first is our Peace + Love Ornament Set in a groovy box with hand-drawn typography and a custom pattern inspired by the ornaments.

Part of a recent project for a typographic tour of Sheffield. Contact me at sjcprojects.co.uk for a free copy of the tour, which is a double-sided A3 piece of print. For details see:

We are full compromised with our real culture, the antique pre colombian design. To reborn the forgotten artistic movements of a killed empire. We developed our Aymara type, designing a contemporanean inca's typography.

Simple, emphatic type. Love it.

Pretty low light when I took this, something which the F707 doesn't deal with all that well. No prizes for spotting me reflected in the window.

I made this Typography Face in GIMP. I got the words from Lorem Ipsum. It didn't turn out how I liked because you cant see my eyes, but I still like it.

Hand-lettered style advice.

Typography

Digital Photography

The text in the image translated to english means "disconnection of reality". The concept behind the image is that many young people growing up without truly knowing reality. They grow up in fantasies. They remain ignorant to the issues of poverty and violence. I believe this is true for many people in Brophy including myself. The image depicts a young boy wearing a nice watch, holding an iPhone and a wallet. sitting in an Aston Martin. By using typography, you add another element of emotion into the image. You can capture great photo and alter its meaning with a message and with the font it is in. Different fonts can cause different emotions and when it is paired with a photo it can enhance the visual experience. The combination of typography and photography in a single image also increases the time a viewer might spend looking at the image. They have to think about both the photo and the text that it is paired with.

I got this Mapleine Cookery book today. The bookstore I ordered it from said it was from the 30s or 40s, but based on the typography and illustration, I'd put it in the 1920s to early 30s at most. It is in near mint condition -- barely ever opened -- and contains a flyer for "Pickles Like Grandmothers!" (sic.)

I have a bottle of Mapleine so I will be trying something from this book for ResurrectedRecipes.com. I wonder which recipe I should try?

but not sure that I agree that ALL good typography is invisible.

Just recently finished these sleeves for Manuel Tur's new release. Big typography and paint textures. It was a lot of fun to stick it all together by hand.
