Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eye

Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Mr. Blake (1794)

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,

In the forests of the night;

What immortal hand or eye,

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies.

Burnt the fire of thine eyes?

On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, and what art,

Could twist the sinews of thy heart?

And when thy heart began to beat,

What dread hand? and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain,

In what furnace was thy brain?

What the anvil? what dread grasp,

Dare its deadly terrors clasp!

When the stars threw down their spears

And water'd heaven with their tears:

Did he smile his work to see?

Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

William Blake's poem The Tyger is more well known but The Fly (1794) is also a good one:

Little fly,

Thy summer’s play

My thoughtless hand

Has brushed away.

Am not I

A fly like thee?

Or art not thou

A man like me?

For I dance

And drink and sing,

Till some blind hand

Shall brush my wing.

If thought is life

And strength and breath,

And the want

Of thought is death,

Then am I

A happy fly,

If I live,

Or if I die.

I found this on the internet to accompany the flower photo...

I haven't been seeing very many Tiger Swallowtails this year, and most of the ones I've seen have been missing essential body parts. Well, wing parts, anyway. Maybe I'll see more this weekend if we get some sunny weather. This is a male, as is evident from his lack of extensive blue coloring on the hindwings.

...ok, so it's just my cat... a girl can dream, right?

|| (=^..^=) || TYGER (or TY) is my 1-year old American Shorthair Tabby ginger, male cat. || (=^͇ ^=) ||

We've adopted a new cat from our local no-kill animal shelter!

We've named him Ty = short for Tyger. He is less than a year old, neutered, male cat

This is how Tyger was described @ Humane Society's website:

Say Hello to Tyger!!!

Tyger was surrendered to our Humane Society in January 2013. Ty was abandoned by his owner when he moved out of the apartment. He left Tyger behind to fend for himself. Luckily a neighbor heard his cries and asked for help. Tyger is the character cat. He's a classic orange tabby that gets in all kinds of mischief. He'll open cabinet doors and investigate everything he comes across. He's also the type that will crash on your lap when your on the computer just because he can and he wants too.

Toronto's Koreantown does not have an arch like Chinatown, but it does have a tiger, and for some reason a discarded unstrung guitar.

Blake is my favorite poet, so please forgive the hyperbole...tiger lilies refracted in some rain drops clinging to a tiger lily stamen.

Almost called it Tyger Eyes...

The tigers at the Atlanta Zoo are kept in a large enclosure of chain-link fence backed with bamboo. The only way to see them is through two dirty, disgusting, plexiglass windows. However, a little investigation revealed an area of the fence on the side of the enclosure, hidden behind vegitation, where the bamboo has rotted away slightly, leaving a sliver of view inside. I peeked in, and was greeted.
