Gram, the foundling.

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes?

On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hand dare sieze the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art.

Could twist the sinews of thy heart?

And when thy heart began to beat,

What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?

In what furnace was thy brain?

What the anvil? what dread grasp

Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,

And watered heaven with their tears,

Did he smile his work to see?

Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Very different than my usual, both the concept and the execution...but, you know, mind's immobility makes the spirit of art die. I titled this photo "The lamb" but I put Blake's "Tyger" as a description because the whole image is a contrast. It happens sometimes that the mild ones are the most dangerous.

Street mural on side of an apartment block near my work office, inspired by the classic poem by William Blake (whose grave is just down the road from here). It's nice to see art used to brighten urban spaces.

Finally discovering the truth about Protocol Ten, Batman must take down Hugo Strange and his Tyger guards atop Wonder Tower before it’s too late.

I originally intended to build this creation before Party At Arkham, but was delayed significantly by not having the necessary pieces, specifically the beard piece, for the creation. The Lego Movie line brought many new pieces to the table, with the most evident being the beard piece that allowed me to make a very convincing Hugo Strange, as well as the equally (If not more so) useful police torso armor, which works spectacularly for Arkham creations.

This was a fun Arkham City inspired creation; which allowed me to add in some more gameplay techniques such as floor grate takedowns. I do wish however that I could have also included the large windows of the round tower; along with Hugo’s control room that I have here, though I did not have enough window panels. Although the large windows would be more suited to an almost full scale build, so eh, oh well.

Regardless, I’m happy with how it turned out. I think my favorite part may be the curved railing, however that hanging henchman does bring a simile to my face! Enjoy!

This was at Batemans (National Trutst), the former home of Rudyard Kipling. Their theme this Christmas is The Jungle Book ... although Tyger Tyger, burning bright is a poem by William Blake.

I saw a couple of shots today by Slater Dozier at Greer, SC. It reminded me of when I was down there for a work project over 30 years ago. I have no memory of where exactly I was but I would imagine the scene is completely different from the one shown here featuring a GE high hood leading a RoadRailer south. Slater, feel free to opine on where this is if possible. I remember a farm on the right and the Groce Laboratories facilities I was working at is behind me. Update: A little detective works shows that location is an EPA Superfund site and gave me the location.

Dec 6, 1990

This year at Dublin Zoo, to capture the Christmas spirit and to raise revenue at a low time of attendance, they have an exhibition titled "Wild Lights" ! When all the animals have gone back into their enclosures and are resting the whole scene lights up and fantastical animals and flowers appear. Children, young and old, gaze in wonder at the sights and the oohs and aahs from the youngsters is heartwarming.

The animals are life size and beautifully constructed, the flowers are enormous and look so real it is amazing. The whole thing was a wonderful way to entertain the grandchildren, the grandparents and even the parents for the evening!

THE TYGER (from Songs Of Experience)

By William Blake, 1794

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes?

...burning bright.

As I explained in the comments thread, I bought a little wooden slatted blind from a charity shop and I just hang it by S-shaped hooks from any handy curtain pole. Even when it's in front of a wide window it doesn't show in photographs that it's actually a prop. The portability means I can take it wherever the sun happens to be at the time. I had my daughter kneeling by a window and suddenly the sun appeared and did this to her face. It disappeared just as quickly but luckily I snapped at the right time. Very little processing here, beyond a high contrast Silver FX Pro b&w conversion.
