Several years ago a lightning strike caused a massive forest fire in Kootney National Park, near Banff, Alberta. Today all that remains is a forest of burnt out pine trees and the surrounding peaks. Yet even with all this natural destruction, she still stands proud and majestic.

Heddal Stave Church
The church is a triple nave stave church and is Norway's largest stave church. It was constructed at the beginning of the 13th century. After the reformation, the church was in a very poor condition, and a restoration took place during 1849–1851. However, because the restorers lacked the necessary knowledge and skills, yet another restoration was necessary in the 1950s. The interior is marked by the period after the Lutheran Reformation in 1536–1537 and is for a great part a result of the restoration that took place in the 1950s.

“As we live and as we are, Simplicity, with a capital "S", is difficult to comprehend nowadays. We are no longer truly simple. We no longer live in simple terms or places. Life is a more complex struggle now. It is now valiant to be simple: a courageous thing to even want to be simple. It is a spiritual thing to comprehend what simplicity means.”

Tbilisi is the capital and largest city of Georgia, situated in the eastern part of the country on the banks of the Kura River. With a rich history spanning over 1,500 years, Tbilisi has been shaped by numerous cultures and civilizations over the centuries. The old part of Tbilisi, known for its charming architecture and unique atmosphere, is one of the most captivating areas of the city. In contrast, the Peace Bridge is a strikingly modern architectural marvel and one of Tbilisi’s most recognizable landmarks. Completed in 2010, the bridge was designed by Italian architect Michele de Lucchi, with lighting by French designer Philippe Martinaud. It spans the Kura River, connecting the old town with the newer districts, and serves as an important pedestrian route and a symbol of the city. The bridge’s design is particularly remarkable, featuring a glass canopy that curves gracefully over the walkway. Often compared to a giant glass wave or a sea creature, the canopy is made of steel and glass and is illuminated at night by thousands of LED lights. These lights create a breathtaking visual display and are programmed to transmit messages in Morse code, conveying universal symbols of life and peace. The Bridge of Peace is not only a functional structure but also a symbolic monument. It embodies the connection between the old and modern parts of Tbilisi and serves as a metaphor for the city’s progress toward peace and unity. The bridge is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, offering stunning views of the city, including the nearby Narikala Fortress and the Presidential Palace.
The Peace Bridge in Tbilisi, Georgia, is located in the heart of the city, spanning the Kura River. Its futuristic design stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding historic architecture, making it a powerful symbol of Tbilisi’s dynamic blend of tradition and modernity.

Approximately four hours south of Lima, Peru, just a few miles offshore, the cold waters of the Humboldt Current make a deep dive, bringing nutrient-rich waters to the surface. This process, known as upwelling, creates an ideal environment for marine life. The result is a literal fish soup that attracts a vast array of wildlife, both in the water and above it, earning these islands the nickname "The Galapagos of Peru".

Sometimes you just have a mental block when processing a image so best remedy is sometimes to wander away and try again later. Well a few months later have finally got this 3 shot pano roughly where it should be. The last of the setting sun on the hills and the mountains just worked a treat...in the end. It can be really tricky creating a panorama of multiple images and getting the water surface correct. Doing each one as longer exposures to blur the water would make it easier to stitch them together. But no, wanted to keep the water wave effect. That was the most frustrating bit blending it all together...maybe a lesson learn't. Its when you repeat that un-learned lesson that you start kicking your-self...haven't got to that bit yet.

Gritstone rock formations lit by the setting sun at Brimham Rocks, Brimham Moor, Nidderdale AONB, North Yorkshire, England.
Here’s another pre-lockdown shot from a landscape shoot at Brimham Rocks in the lovely Nidderdale AONB in February this year.
It was a lovely sunny evening and the rocks looked great as the sun was setting. Can’t wait for my next trip on the 24 bus up into Nidderdale!

It was a quick business trip to Clive so methought that a visit to either the coast or TeMata Peak was in order as my weather app was telling me of high cloud at sunset. Te Mata won as its either go high or go low and the choice seemed to be a good-un. A parasailor set off on q and made for a bit of hooman interest as well.
