I last visited Top Tor at sunrise in June 2017 but somebody had pitched a small tent directly in the line of fire. This time around there were no added extras to spoil the composition and, more importantly, lighting conditions were far more dramatic with stunning colour to match. All good things come to those who wait or so they say!

My favorite "sunrise in paradise" location on Key West. These palms are featured on Jimmy Buffett's A1A album, and the back cover is about 50 yards north of here. While he lived here this was a favorite spot of his and he wrote a few songs here. Have been attempting to get the best shot of these palms for many years. I'M STILL TRYING!

The flat hill in the distance is a marvelous formation that can be recognised from miles away. Just to the south of it is located the historic 77 ranch first owned by Peck and Converse. In his book,The long trail from Texas, Ad Spaugh talks of burying a couple children who live with thier mother in a cabin east of Flat Top that took sick and died. They were buried on a pine knoll nearby Flat Top by a crew of sad cowboys.
My Grandmother who knew Ad and sadly recalled visiting with him about the burial. She told me of it before I had ever read the book many years later. Exciting and hard times...
