The "White Big Top" is a temporary structure on Toronto's Port Lands under which Cavalia presents it's production of Odysseo. This is a view of "Cavalia village" from a pier to the south during the "blue hour". Distillery District condominiums (home) rise in the distance behind the gigantic tent. It's definitely an eye-catcher for those driving along the elevated Gardiner Expressway or Lakeshore Blvd. just east of the downtown core.

The flat hill in the distance is a marvelous formation that can be recognised from miles away. Just to the south of it is located the historic 77 ranch first owned by Peck and Converse. In his book,The long trail from Texas, Ad Spaugh talks of burying a couple children who live with thier mother in a cabin east of Flat Top that took sick and died. They were buried on a pine knoll nearby Flat Top by a crew of sad cowboys.
My Grandmother who knew Ad and sadly recalled visiting with him about the burial. She told me of it before I had ever read the book many years later. Exciting and hard times...

Wapiti bull also called elk or moose (especially in North America) is as one of the largest North American wildlife species, live in open forests in North America, especially in the western Rocky Mountains area. They are significantly larger than the European red deer. Only the shovel moose is bigger.
The name Wapiti ("white rump") comes from the Shawnee Indians.
Alleine ist man hier oben am Reinebringen selten. Selbst nachts oder im Winter gibt es keine Garantie auf Einsamkeit. 215.000 Besteigungen waren es 2023 und bis Juni 2024 hatte man nochmals ein Plus von 50 % gegenüber dem Vorjahr ermittelt. Der Berggrat oben ist schmal und ja, fast jedes Jahr kommt jemand zu Fall und, wenn man sich die lotrechten Abgründe betrachtet, so endet ein solcher Fall oftmals erst ganz unten. Ich war bei kräftigem Wind dort oben. Das beliebte Selfies für Instagram direkt am Abgrund, eine wirklich saublöde Idee. Mein schwerer Fotorucksack lag flach auf dem Boden und dennoch wehte ihn eine Böe weg ! Ist das zu fassen ?! Gottseidank blieb er 2 Felsstufen weiter unterhalb liegen, nix passiert.

There were 215,000 ascents in 2023 and by June 2024 there had been another 50% increase over the previous year. The ridge at the top is narrow and yes, someone falls almost every year and, if you look at the vertical abysses, such a fall often only ends at the very bottom. I was up there in windy conditions. The popular selfie for Instagram right on the edge, a really stupid idea. My heavy camera backpack was lying flat on the ground and yet a gust of wind blew it away! Can you believe it?! Thank God it stayed two rock steps further down, nothing happened.

I found this set at my local Toys R Us and decided to do a review of it for all of those who are curious
Taking in the sea air on the top deck of the Stena Europe superferry. I travelled from Ireland to the UK last week to visit friends & family, my first time back in 10 years. Home now but I'm feeling a little jaded so you'll have to bear with me while I try to catch up on comments in the coming days.
The life jackets are stored in these benches & the lifeboats are hanging over the side. There is actually a walking route around the deck, 4 laps = 1km. Great idea to pass the time HBM!
