……Went for the Circus side of the theme in this weeks Smile on Saturday, the chair is a creation by the Daughter in Law from a few Christmases ago - made from a top off a bottle of Bubbly, balancing it was a challenge but not insurmountable! The Elephant came from Jill’s moms but needed a pair of Tusks - unlikely to be Ivory poachers, however a few minutes with a Crochet needle (also Jill’s moms) I fashioned a new pair for him! The Ball is a remnant from when our Grandson was little. And finally, the Big Top backdrop is the curtain we hang over the front door to keep the direct sun off it. Indeed it was natural sunlight here, ‘Click’ & hey presto - Smile On Saturday, well after some minor edits just in Lightroom only. Alan:-) HSoS……

The farm was busy with visitors yesterday, because of a nearby Octoberfest event. My eyes lit up when Cadie appeared, as she's a favorite subject. I squeezed off a few photos while also shooting Ophelia and Luther, shared yesterday. The sight of all the animals puts Cadie in a great mood, and I enjoy capturing it.
Not sure I've ever seen anyone wearing a top-hat in real life before. Let alone riding a bike at the same time. Good for him.
The San Juan River canyon below Cedar Mesa (on the right) as viewed from the top of the Honaker trail. The river has cut through multiple limestone and sandstone layers of marine origin deposited around 300 million years ago. Brachiopod fossils are fairly abundant in some of the layers (collectively called the Honaker Trail Formation by geologists).
The Honaker Trail was constructed by Henry Honaker in the 1890’s as a supply route for local mining activity, though unfortunately for Honaker it was deemed too dangerous after a horse fell off and perished when it was first opened. However the trail is still in great shape for hikers, despite some exciting very exposed sections. The similarity of this view to that from Goosenecks State Park is not surprising as this is about 2 miles down-river from the park.

March, coming, the beauty that surrounds us in everything for those willing to see.
Most of them have never seen the light of day, because my flower photography has overtaken my world somewhat.
And much as I love it, my ‘other’ photography is as important to me.
So, here goes.
A sultry and hot Summer's day, light quite flat.
The lone tree on the top of the ridge of the hill did not look particularly big or strong, it wasn’t even leaning, no winds had bent it although this was quite near the coast of the North Sea, but no, still standing straight!
I often feel like that tree...

It took an equal mixture of determination and stupidity to get to the summit of Chrome Hill for a 4.40am sunrise.
it was quite breezy on top, but in sheltered parts of the valley there was still a bit of low mist (top right)
Aysgarth Top Fall's, taken in 2020, just after we came out of lockdown so a completely socially distanced visit, I say that because when I arrived I was the only person there.
spent a good few hours walking around and never saw a single person till I got back to the car.
Conditions were tricky to say the least, bright sunshine, not a breath of wind and not a cloud in the sky, 8am and I was walking around in shorts and t-shirt.
One of the best specs I've seen on this car. The red soft top roof went well with the blue/silver body paint.
