There's a noticeable obsession with perfection in Singapore. Even the rails on the MRT need to be as smooth as possible.

The atmosphere looks to be getting some moisture (cloudage). Looks like the weather was transitioning into a more interesting scenario! Much of the West Coast was to see showers and numerous thunderstorms in the next 24-48 hours as an unusually strong low pressure area drifts inland from the Pacific... Bring on the storms! Pic taken from San Jose, CA. (Friday, May 29, 2020; 1:20 p.m.)
*Weather scenario/update/forecast: The heat wave was finally ending. The main weather now shifts to showers & t-storms this weekend, beginning Friday evening. A low pressure system was just off the coast. This is a wet system, with moisture more than double normal levels. Abundant atmospheric moisture & dynamic lift & steep lapse rates were to combine to bring heavy rain over portions of NorCal. Scattered afternoon t-storms may develop across the area in the wake of this band as the core of the low moves over NorCal. The shower & t-storm threat were to diminish by late Saturday afternoon & evening, with a residual chance of showers into Sunday over the northern mountains & northern Sierras with the approach of a Pacific trough. This was to continue onshore flow & cloud cover over the state on Sunday, with some lingering showers & p.m. t-storms limited to Shasta County & dry elsewhere. The trough was to bring more mountain showers & afternoon t-storms by Monday to NorCal (while the Bay Area dries out)...

The Peony or Paeony is a flowering plant in the genus Paeonia, the only genus in the family Paeoniaceae. They are native to Asia, Europe and Western North America. Scientists differ on the number of species that can be distinguished ranging from 25 to 40, although the current consensus is 33 known species. The relationships between the species need to be further clarified. Most are herbaceous perennial plants 0.25–1 metre (0.82–3.28 ft) tall, but some are woody shrubs 0.25–3.5 metres (0.82–11.48 ft) tall. They have compound, deeply lobed leaves and large, often fragrant flowers, in colors ranging from purple red to white or yellow, in late spring and early summer. Peonies are among the most popular garden plants in temperate regions. Herbaceous peonies are also sold as cut flower on a large scale, although generally only available in late spring and early summer. All Paeoniaceae are deciduous perennial herbs or shrubs, with thick storage roots and thin roots for gathering water and minerals. Some species are caespitose, because the crown produces adventitous buds, while others have stolons. They have rather large compound leaves without glands and stipules, and with anomocytic stomata. In the woody species the new growth emerges from scaly buds on the previous flush or from the crown of the rootstock. The large bisexual flowers are mostly single at the end of the stem. In P. emodi, P. lactiflora, P. veitchii and many of the cultivars these contributed to, few additional flowers develop in the axils of the leaves. Flowers close at night or when the sky is overcast. Each flower is subtended by a number of bracts, that may form a sort of involucre, has 3-7 tough free sepals and mostly 5-8, but occasionally up to 13 free petals. These categories however are intergrading, making it difficult to assign some of them, and the number of these parts may vary. Within are numerous (50–160) free stamens, with anthers fixed at their base to the filaments, and are sagittate in shape, open with longitudal slits at the outer side and free pollen grains which have three slits or pores and consist of two cells. Within the circle of stamens is a more or less prominent, lobed disc, which is presumed not to excrete nectar. Within the disk is a varying number (1-15) of separate carpels, which have a very short style and a decurrent stigma. Each of these develops into a dry fruit (which is called a follicle), which open with a lengthwise suture and each of which contain one or a few large fleshy seeds. The annual growth is predetermined: if the growing tip of a shoot is removed, no new buds will develop that season.

We arrived to a seal just sort of staring at us, like they do. Maverick always wants to go in to play with 'em. No games yet.
To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time. - Clara Ortega

This is a tribute to one of the landmarks of the old Singapore.
Rochor Center is one of the oldest public housing in Singapore and it will disappear soon in 2017. Many photographers roaming the huge central court to take a glimpse at this unique place.
Ladies and gentlemen! You are welcomed to the Park of Soviet Steampunk.
In real life it wears the modest name of Juzhnaia (Southern) Railroad
Museum. But in fact it contains all that need a real fan of
Steam-n-Electric Era. A lot of Red Stars, a lot of Heavy Iron, a lot of
Steam Machines - You have all of it here. Despite of common opinion about
the steampunk as a militarist world all this showpieces had the
definitely peaceful purpose. But they look really impressive. And all
this machines, either steam, or electric, or Diesel are accurately and
perfectly restored. Excluding the single Polish-built minibus Nysa all
others are definitely of domestic design and production, and there is a
lot of really rare and valuable artifacts among them. So, welcome to the
Steampunk World!

2024 October - The road to The Racetrack via Teakettle Junction
Teakettle Junction is a road junction in Inyo County, California. It lies at an elevation of 4,150 feet (1,260 m) in Death Valley between the Racetrack Playa and Ubehebe Crater.
At the junction where the unimproved road from Ubehebe Crater meets roads to the Racetrack Playa and Hunter Mountain, there is a sign reading "Teakettle Junction." While the origin of the name is unknown, it has become a tradition for visitors to attach teakettles to the sign with messages written on them.
