Elijah Simpson, a Master’s student in aerospace engineering and former president of the Black Students in Aerospace, erases a white board as he prepares to give notes to students taking part in a work session for the BSA CubeSat Demonstration Program (CDP) in Aerospace Engineering Professor James Cutler's lab in the Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Building, on the North Campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, on February 26, 2025.
As part of the BSA CubeSat Demonstration Program, students designed and built small-scale satellite systems to collect and store atmospheric data. Supported by the MXL CubeSat Flight Lab and Blue Origin engineers, this hands-on project gave participants real-world experience in system design, fabrication, and flight testing.

We're expanding Mercy Clinic East in Janesville by 13,000 square feet in order to accommodate the addition of PT/OT services, expanding existing clinic spaces and provide an improved entranceway to the facility. The project will provide an entirely new look for Mercy Clinic East with both interior and exterior elements being fully renovated at the same time as the expansion. Temporary mobile trailers have been brought in to accommodate clinic services while the major portion of the renovation is being completed. Visit East.MercyHealthSystem.org to see artists' renderings and more.
Large direct refrigeration block ice machine
Thanks to years' application in modular designing, all Focusun block ice machines can be installed in the ISO container so that it is easy and convenient to transport, install and move. And the whole set can work if there are proper place, water source and power supply even without any pipe line connection. These equipments can form a moving ice-making station installed on a truck.
Why containerized?
Generally, working conditions are crucial for maintaining the stability and performance of an ice machine. Being containerized, the ice machine can work in a relatively isolated environment, where the ambient temperature can be controlled at 20℃-25℃.And all this facilitate the ice making process.
The whole container has been specially treated and reinforced. It is also a perfect protection from the physical impact to the machine, and keeps the dust outside.
Both the brine refrigerating block ice machine and the direct refrigerating block ice machine are required to be fixed onto the plant ground. And it will become a trouble when you need to move the machine elsewhere, but that will never happen to a containerized one.

"The fort was designed to hold 1.5 million gallons of water in 110 cisterns, 109 of which were constructed under the first tier casemates. Rainwater collected along the top of the fort would be piped down the columns of the casemates into the reservoirs beneath. Lack of annual rainfall, the inherently salty nature of the sand the water trickled through, and the saltwater intrusion from the settling of the fort, made most of the cisterns unserviceable. During the Civil War, steam powered salt water condensing plants were brought to Fort Jefferson to produce freshwater for the garrison." from Fort Jefferson: Self-Guided Tour
They're sounding awesome, and according to some (band)members of the audience they've grown a lot over the years.
