Acting Secretary Peter O’Rourke’s visit to the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System Photo Biography Exhibit “Through Our Eyes – The Women Veteran’s Experience”.
Acting VA Secretary Peter O’Rourke spent Saturday, June 14th engaged with Veterans and legislative leadership at the 97th DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Convention in Reno, Nevada. Thousands of ill and injured Veterans along with their families and caregivers listened as the acting secretary discussed critical issues that directly impact Veterans. “I am making a personal commitment to you and ask the same of you,” O’Rourke said during his opening session speech. He highlighted both the importance of the work DAV members do to help the Veteran community and its partnership with VA. DAV helps build a path for Veterans to access services at the VA and also facilitates in their physical, emotional and financial needs.
O’Rourke went on to encourage members to be a voice in helping to strengthen the noble mission of caring for disabled Veterans, “we (VA) are not really making a difference unless we hear it from you, the results show what’s possible and we still need your input,” he said during a public session along-side House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Phil Roe. The two addressed questions about historic and transformative improvements at VA including the signing of the MISSION Act, consolidating Community Care programs and implementing the forever GI Bill.
While in Reno, the acting secretary also visited with 14 female Veterans who were honored at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System. The women, ages 25-100 were featured in the “Reno is Artown” Photo Biography Exhibit “Through Our Eyes – The Women Veteran’s Experience”. DAV National Commander Delphine Metcalf-Foster joined Acting Secretary O’Rourke in recognizing the project, which is designed to raise awareness about women Veterans, their service to our Nation and the broad spectrum of services VA provides them. The design of London Railway System first lays down the zone system, taking elements from the round-cornered cross section of the Tube and from the Union Jack, and then sets the railway lines on it. The zone system is made up of rectangular zones that grow at regular intervals; this draws the viewer's attention to the central part of London as do the diagonal patterns of the Union Jack.

Recently acquired from Video Games New York, who just moved from St. Mark's to their new location on 6th Street. A two-minute walk from our apartment, they're open until 11:00 and carry video games both old and new.
Along with my NES, I brought home the following games: Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt, Metroid, Ghosts & Goblins, Blades of Steel, Joust, and Tetris. Kathryn just bought a copy of Bubble Bobble, a blast from her past, off of Ebay. I'm on a waiting list for The Legend of Zelda (gold cartridge, of course).
The twelve-year-old in me is grinning ear-to-ear.

The men at work series are the men that I work with in a central heating and cooling plant in the midwest. They are a proud and smart bunch making their way in the blue collar world. This image was the beginning of the Men at Work series. I was walking thru the basement, and framed by the circle of the turbine steam condenser was Brian. Afterwords a rustic look gave the image almost a timelessness. (that is if you ignore the modern work light.. :) and the headphones..ok looking pretty modern after all!
This is a shot of my whole system. On the left is a Sauder shaker cherry audio pier with a ca.1970 Marantz Model Twenty Six receiver and topped with a late 1970s Marantz 6350 direct drive turntable. On the back of this pier is a Russound AB-3.2 automatic selector switch that controls which receiver is sending to the speakers. On the right is a Sauder shaker cherry TV stand with a Vizio VO47LF high def LCD television. In the component space below the TV is an older Sony progressive scan DVD player also doing double duty as a CD player. Right below that is a Motorola DVR unit. The sound from both these units is run through the Integra DTM-5.3 receiver on the bottom shelf and out to the Definitive Technology BP7006 Bipolar Supertowers on either side of the stand. Each of these loudspeaker towers has two tweeters, two mid-range drivers and a built-in powered subwoofer.
I think it's a nice mix of the old and new.
in fact, there is not one jewel in our home, and there is not extra money, too.

Right after Warschauer Brücke, in Friedrichshain (Berlin) there is a huge “abandoned” industry section where gradually many pubs and sport areas settled down, a great place of amusement and touristic attraction because of the unusual scenario.
You can discover brilliant murales at every corner, gigantic artworks representing many ideas and emotions.
This one is an enormous murales I took in 5 shots and reassembled with photomerge tool on Photoshop.
I was very fascinate when I discovered it… It seem to me like a perfect representation of a System that succeeds in get us down, we are part of the system and the system is able to do everything to us.
That’s why I decided to call it like this.
