These days, even in the morning, it was too hot for a pleasant walk. In the forest, however, it looked quite different. These big trees are wonderful cooling machines. They evaporate huge amounts of water through their leaves and give off evaporative cooling to their surroundings. We should take good care of them.

A southbound CSX snakes its way through rural West Virginia. I believe I took this a Fairmont. Please chime in if anyone has a better thought than mine.

A few weeks ago my husband said "every good

bar needs a good HIFI system" and he showed

me a picture of a radio from the 90's.

When I called it radio, my husband told me:

"honey, it's not just a RADIO, it's a high-end HIFI

system that used to be very popular".

Now it's finished, my husband is happy with

how it looks, it wasn't easy, i installed

some functions so that you can use it on

the parcel as a "radio" 😂. It can store

7 stream channels, you can turn it on and off.

Its possible to take a first look in my shop inworld 👍 .

This HIFI system will be released on November 10th @ Equal10.

Hoping to see the creature that made this amazing web system in our garden overnight. And, how 'bout that gigantic slug! 😮 Gardens do interesting things this time of year.

The Seaboard System’s only two A units make a reverse move to run around their train at Martinsburg, West Virginia.

The Falkirk Wheel, Falkirk, Scotland. This remarkable contrivance allows canal traffic to move between 2 very different levels without the use of conventional locks. The old, 11 lock system, which took nearly a day to traverse, was closed in the 1930s and this new version was opened in 2002. The top and bottom cradles each hold a boat and the water it floats in. The counter-balancing effect then uses very little electricity to turn the wheel allowing each cradle to move to/from the bottom to the other end.

When they get hot they hold their mouth open as a cooling system. You can clearly see the blood vessels in their open beak, providing heat exchange.

....Have you ever forgotten stuff when out with the camera??..spare battery, lens, filters etc?? Well, I have a new system of putting stuff where I can see it before I leave the house, which worked very well yesterday...I had all the filters and lenses for a great day out and arrived here at the top of the Kirkstone Pass to warm up with a shot of this famous hut....unfortunately my camera had not arrived as it was still sitting on the kitchen bench....any system is only as good as the fool using it. Luckily I had my pocket rocket with me.

Again, two worlds: on the right, the reflection of a lady in the window of a train passing through a station at great speed. On the left, what you perceive from the station from the perspective of the train. What is moving? The train or the train station?

Chessie System GP40-2-4435 & GP30-6947 have an E/B Consol Coal train in tow as they drift down the connection from Chessie's Sparrows Point Industrial Track to Conrail's President Street Branch, now known as Norfolk Southern's President Street Industrial Track. Two Conrail coal trains are waiting to get into Consol. The Lombard Steet overpass and Northeast Corridor catenary polls are in the distance.

I saw this yellow caboose along the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail in Connellsville Pa many years ago and got this quick photo of it. Turns out it has been restored and turned into a welcome center along the trail.

Taken quite a few weeks ago now, but this felt like a sign that autumn was definitely on its way even back then.
