The US Embassy in London, located in the Nine Elms area, was designed by KieranTimberlake. Completed in 2017, the building stands out for its design aimed at symbolizing transparency and openness. The embassy’s cube-like structure is wrapped in a glass facade and features a transparent ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) outer layer, which helps reduce glare and heat.

My Best Shot 2019. This photo symbolizes my struggle to get this particular shot. One I've been trying to take since 2006. Every time I went up that building, I came back with a photo that wasn't quite what I was looking for. I discovered a new technique this time around and got the Sendai night shot I've always wanted. There is no photo this year has given me the sense of accomplishment this has, so it's my photo of the year.

This is a selection of traditional baked sweets we make for Greek Orthodox Easter, along with the red-dyed eggs that symbolize Christ's resurrection.

Roses symbolize unbridled passion.

Of beauty born, they burn with hungry fire....

this is part of a poem by Nicholas Gordon.

GIVE YOURSELF A TREAT, LARGE and View On Black

The Roses mixed with the 'virgin-white' snapdragons... This image is a good representation of my own unbridled passion for flowers.

I still do not consider myself a 'flower-photographer' , only a photographer who loves to take the best possible images of flowers, bringing out the characteristics, shapes and colours, through light and placement, give them a 'personality'...

Union Bell – Bronze in the University Plaza symbolizes the Great Union of December the 1st, 1918

It is made of three pieces of bells representing the three Romania provinces fusing from the top down.

From 1599 to 1601, Alba Iulia was the capital of the united principalities of Walachia, Transylvania and Moldavia by Michael the Brave. It was the site of the proclamation of Transylvania's unification with Romania (1 December 1918) and of the coronation of King Ferdinand in 1922.

May I help you stands out

Did you know that in Hindu mythology there is a strong, beautiful warrior goddess, who rides a tiger or lion? She is none other than Durga, the invincible. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva created Goddess Durga, as an avatar of Ma Shakti using their energies, to save devalok, where the Gods resided and living beings on earth from demon Mahishasura, as neither of the three could vanquish the demon. Goddess Durga, with weapons provided to her by the three Gods took over the task of vanquishing Mahishasura. She came to earth to kill the demon Mahishasura. After a long and hard battle, she killed Mahishasura and restored the heaven, devalok to the Gods, which was previously acquired by him.

Worship of Durga

Ma Durga as she is fondly called, is invoked for protection from the powers of evil. The triumph of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura symbolizes the victory of good over the evil. Durga Puja is observed for her victory. Ma Durga has been worshiped from about 400 A.D or probably earlier than that, to the present time. The day of victory is celebrated as Vijayadashami or Dussehra.

Navaratri

The actual period of the worship however may be on the preceding nine days, Navaratri followed by the last day called Vijayadashami in North India or five days in Bengal. Nine aspects of Durga known as Navadurga are worshipped, one by one during the nine-day festival. In South India especially Andhra Pradesh, Navaratri is also celebrated and the goddess is dressed each day as a different devi meaning goddess.

The word devi in Sanskrit means divine or a shining presence. The nine manifestations of Durga worshipped during Navaratri in the month of Ashwin of the Hindu calendar are Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Skandamata, Katyayani,Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidaatri.

The Garba

Durga is associated with two mountain ranges, the Himalayas in the north and the VIndhyas in central India. In Mysore, which originated from Mahishasooru in Karnataka, she is worshiped as Chamundeshwari, the patron goddess of the city during Dussehra. In Gujarat it is celebrated as the last day of Navaratri, during which the Garba dance is performed to celebrate the victory of Durga as ‘Mahishasura-mardini’.

Durga puja

‘Durga Puja’ is celebrated in Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tripura, Assam and Bangladesh. The Goddess is worshipped as Mother Durga or Ma Durga, the Mother Goddess being the symbol of all the true qualities which define the Supreme Being. Durga is the representation of infinite power and purity, which resides within every being. The Devi Mahatmya or Devi Mahatmyam is a Hindu philosophical text describing the Goddess as the supreme power and creator of the universe. It is part of the Markandeya Purana. It is recited during Navratri celebrations, the Durga Puja festival, and in Durga temples across India. UNESCO has accorded the Intangible Cultural Heritage tag to Durga Puja on 15th December, 2021.

Durga in Art

Durga images can be seen carved on many ancient Indian temples and caves and is seen in murals as well. Durga images began to be available in miniature painting from 16th century to the 20th century. Durga worship is found all over India, more so in Eastern India. especially Bengal. Statues of Durga have been carved out of clay, stone and bronze and painted as patachitra in Odisha and Bengal. Painting styles in Rajasthani and Pahari have depicted the Goddess in its various schools.

Eastern Bluebirds...generally symbolize happiness, hope, love, and positivity. They are often associated with good news, spring, and a connection between the living and the deceased. In many cultures, bluebirds represent the dawn of a new day or a harbinger of spring.

The facade above the colonnade is decorated with mosaics made between 1854 and 1874 from drawings by Filippo Agricola and Nicola Consoni who were inspired as much as possible to the original tenth century. The mosaic is divided into three bands. In the lower part, on a gold background, alternating the windows are depicted the four prophets of the Old Testament: Isaiah, Daniel, Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Above them, before the cornice, there is a band with the Agnus Dei on the upstream of the haven from which flow the four rivers symbolizing the Gospels, in which they quench twelve, the lambs, which symbolize the apostles. In the triangular tympanum, finally, there is depicted Christ Blessing place in the middle of St. Paul and St. Peter and the center strip

A rose that is white symbolizes purity and innocence. The white being a metaphor for being untarnished, they also pay tribute to new beginnings as well as expressing hopes for the future...which is why white roses are a popular choice in a bridal bouquet, along with the brides white dress.

They're also a fine choice for the beginning of a relationship...as well as the birth of a baby, buying ones first home, or a new job.

Being Monday, I thought I would share this white rose for the start of a new week, and to wish everyone a happy, healthy week ahead!

Summer solstice is approaching. I visited NH Audubon Massabesic Center last week. The garden filled with blooming flowers. The flowers generally symbolize wealth, prosperity, beauty and charm. It is China's national flower.

The lotus flower symbolizes spiritual enlightenment, purity, self-regeneration, and rebirth. Its emergence from murky waters into beauty and glory has been seen as a metaphor for human life, in which difficult times can be overcome with resilience and dedication.

This door, located in Grenoble, France, represents the region's historical architecture that blends medieval and Renaissance influences. The deep red color and paneled design reflect the tradition of vibrant wooden doors found in many historic European cities. The semi-circular arch above the door is framed with light gray stone, a classic Romanesque feature that offers both strength and aesthetic appeal. The intricate wrought iron fanlight at the top hints at the craftsmanship typical of the region during the 19th century.

Grenoble, often referred to as the "Capital of the Alps," is renowned for its diverse culinary scene, heavily influenced by the surrounding mountainous region. Dishes like gratin dauphinois, made with thinly sliced potatoes and cream, trace their origins to this area. The region also boasts excellent cheeses such as Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage and wines like the Coteaux de l’Isère. Small details, like the historical setting of this door, echo Grenoble's rich cultural heritage, where food and architecture converge in daily life.

Today, Grenoble is a hub of innovation, blending its historical roots with a forward-thinking approach to technology and education. As one of France's leading research centers, it has a vibrant energy while still preserving its old-world charm. This door, likely part of a residential or commercial property, is a testament to the city's layered history, where past and present coexist harmoniously. Its well-preserved façade symbolizes the pride Grenoble takes in maintaining its historical identity.

This captivating scene captures the marina of Trani in southern Italy after a gentle rainfall. The freshened air gives the surroundings a renewed vibrancy, with a clear rainbow arching gracefully across the dramatic sky. The soft yet warm light of the late afternoon illuminates the historic buildings, casting a golden hue on their weathered stone façades, adding an ethereal quality to the moment.

The foreground features a lively marina filled with small boats and yachts, their reflections shimmering softly in the calm water. The boats, varied in size and color, suggest an active harbor life, juxtaposed with the serene ambiance brought about by the recent rain. The masts of the boats create vertical accents that echo the taller structures in the distance, adding depth and dimension to the composition.

In the background, the historic architecture of Trani stands as a testament to its rich cultural heritage. The most prominent structure, a church bell tower, rises above the surrounding buildings, serving as a focal point against the dark, brooding clouds. The harmony of the pastel and golden tones of the buildings reflects the region's Mediterranean charm, while the cloudscape above creates a sense of drama, contrasting with the calmness of the scene below.

The interplay of natural elements and man-made structures creates a poignant image of tranquility and resilience. The rainbow symbolizes hope and renewal, complementing the timeless beauty of Trani's marina. This moment, caught between rain and sun, encapsulates the unique allure of this coastal town, leaving a lasting impression of peace and wonder.

ASTERS (Callistephus chinensis) symbolize patience, elegance and daintiness and are indicative of ‘a love of variety’.

In Greek, Aster means star, named so for its star-like blossoms. Asters have daisy like flowers with a yellow or yellow/green center.

They come in colours of yellow, white and all shades of purple from the palest lavender to deep purple.

Lungta (Windhorse) are prayer flags made in five cardinal

colours of yellow, green, red, white and blue, symbolizing the

five elements of earth, water, fire, air and earth respectively.

The silent prayers are blessings spoken on the breath of nature. Just as a drop of water can permeate the ocean,

prayers dissolved in the wind extend to fill all of space, quietly harmonizes the environment.

Outer Level: Mythical Creature

On the outer level, the lungta is a mythical Tibetan creature from pre-Buddhist times that combines the speed of the wind and the strength of the horse to carry prayers from earth to the heavens.

Inner Level: Positive Qualities

Lungta is associated with positive energy or ‘life force’ and with ‘good luck’. It is both the subduer of evil and the vehicle of enlightenment.

The lungta symbol is often depicted on prayer flags, which are flown to generate merit and increase one's life force. Lungta prayer flags typically display a tiger, a snow lion, a garuda, and a dragon, (the four dignities) with a lungta in the center. Certain lungta prayers also refer to these four symbols.

The tiger, snow lion, garuda, and dragon are ancient symbols of the qualities of lungta that originate with pre-Buddhist Tibetan and Chinese astrological traditions. Generally, they symbolize the fearlessness and resilience of lungta. (See Shambhala: The Path of the Warrior.)

The Reeves Spirea flower holds immense spiritual significance, which can be seen across various cultures. In Japanese culture, Reeves Spirea flowers are known as 'yuki yanagi' and represent the transience of life, much like the famous cherry blossom. Similarly, in Chinese culture, these flowers are closely associated with the concept of Yin and Yang and are believed to bring balance and harmony to one’s life.

In addition to their cultural significance, Reeves Spirea flowers also have a strong spiritual connection to the natural world. These flowers are often used in herbal medicine to treat various ailments, such as digestive issues and respiratory problems. They are also believed to have a calming effect on the mind and body, making them a popular choice for aromatherapy and relaxation practices.

Furthermore, Reeves Spirea flowers are often used in spiritual rituals and ceremonies, particularly in Native American cultures. They are believed to have the power to cleanse and purify the spirit, and are often used in smudging ceremonies to clear negative energy and promote healing. Overall, the Reeves Spirea flower is a powerful symbol of spiritual growth, transformation, and connection to the natural world.

What Do Reeves Spirea Flowers Symbolize in Literature and Art?

Reeves Spirea flowers have been a popular motif in literature and art for centuries. In Victorian England, these flowers were used as a symbol of love, purity, and innocence, and often featured prominently in poetry and artwork of the time. In modern times, the Reeves Spirea flower continues to be a popular subject for painters and photographers, thanks to its delicate beauty and vibrant pink and white hues.

This vibrant photograph captures the essence of springtime in a serene suburb near Atlanta, Georgia. The flourishing roses, resplendent in vivid shades of fuchsia, stands proudly as a testament to the rejuvenating power of spring. Each petal seems to reflect the soft light, creating a lively dance of colors that beckons the eye and lifts the spirit. The bush, set against the rich greenery and the earthy tones of a neatly laid brick wall, forms a picturesque scene that encapsulates the beauty of suburban gardens. These roses are not just a feast for the eyes; they symbolize the warmth and vibrancy of the community, adding splendor to the everyday landscape. As the flowers peak in their bloom, they create a visual harmony that resonates with the promise of new beginnings and the enduring charm of the South.

The Square of Kyiv Intellectuals is one of the most creative sights of the capital. The main feature of the park is bronze bird sculptures, each of which identifies a certain image of representatives of the intelligentsia.

Kyiv sculptor Konstantin Skritutsky depicted the urban intellectual in the form of a bronze kingfisher - a bird that stands on a concrete pedestal with a cane under its wing, bowing its head. It would be happy to fly away to warmer lands, but it has become so accustomed to it that cannot do this - it’s a shame...

“As for me, this image best symbolizes the Kyiv intelligentsia. By its nature, the kingfisher is a very shy bird - it constantly hides its head under its wing, as if it were ashamed of everything that happens around. With my work I want to show that from the general callousness and inertia, the Kyiv intelligentsia has become an endangered species, which is time to be included in the Red Book. But the intelligentsia exists, and it should actively manifest itself in all public affairs. This is a kind of friendly cartoon that should make the intellectual think," - the sculptor is convinced.

La Mezquita of Cordoba - one of the most beautiful examples of Muslim art in Spain - symbolizes the many religious changes Cordoba has undergone over the centuries.

It originally was a Catholic church built by the Visigoths. When Muslims conquered Spain in 711, the church was first divided into Muslim and Christian halves. This sharing arrangement of the site lasted until 784, when the Christian half was purchased by the Emir 'Abd al-Rahman I, who then proceeded to demolish the entire structure and build the grand mosque of Cordoba on its ground. After the Reconquista, it was converted to a Roman Catholic church, culminating in the insertion of a Renaissance cathedral nave in the 16th century. [cit. Wikipedia]

Düden Waterfall: The waterfall which is one of the natural beauties that symbolizes the city is located approximately 10 km northeast of Antalya city centre. It falls down from a height of 20 metres. The main source of the stream is in Kırkgöz area. However lower part of Düden Waterfall is on the road to Lara Beach. It is on the southeast of city centre and floods from 40 metre high cliffs. It is one of the natural beauties that symbolize Antalya.

antalya.bel.tr/i/waterfalls-and-natural-parks

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antalya

Düden Waterfalls are a group of waterfalls in the province of Antalya, Turkey. The waterfalls, formed by the recycle station water, are located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north-east of Antalya. They end where the waters of the Lower Düden Falls drop off a rocky cliff directly into the Mediterranean Sea.

A group of Düden Waterfalls consists of two waterfalls, Upper Düden Waterfalls and Lower Düden Waterfalls.[1]

At the 28th and 30th kilometre markers (17 and 19 miles) of the old route from Antalya-Burdur (which goes through Döşemealtı town), two big karstic sources appear. These sources, Kırkgözler and Pınarbaşı, merge after a short flow and disappear into Bıyıklı Sinkhole. Some of the sinkholes can swallow a river or lake. In this region, the Suğla (Konya) big sinkhole and the Bıyıklı sinkhole output 30 cubic metres per second (1,100 cu ft/s). This quantity is the output of Kırkgöz and Pınarbaşı springs at inundation.

The water, which disappears at Bıyıklı Sinkhole, travels 14 km (9 mi) underground and comes out again at Varsak pit. After a very short fall, it disappears again from the other end. The water which disappears at Varsak goes underground for 2 km (1.2 mi) and comes out again at Düdenbasi, by pressure made by a syphon. The water which falls from Düdenbasi is the water coming from Kepez Hydroelectrical Complex.

A regulator built in front of the Bıyıklı Sinkhole directs the waters of Kırkgözler and Pınarbaşı into a canal to the Kepez Hydroelectric Plant, where a pressure pipe carries it to a balancing funnel and drops it over the plant's turbines.

The water from the plant's discharge unit is brought to Düdenbaşı again by a long canal, where it forms artificial cascades. From there the amount of water is that of a large river. Seven irrigation trenches distribute the water to land north-east of Antalya.

After Düdenbasi, the waters of Düdençay separate into a number of streams and finally, east of Antalya, cascade 40 metres (131 ft) from a platform into the Mediterranean. A park surrounds these waterfalls. They can be seen from the sea by taking a boat trip from Antalya yacht harbour.

Pine cones symbolize child-like wonder, spiritual perception, imagination, creativity, fertility, birth, wildness, freedom, connection, and playfulness. (Native American)

They show us this simple philosophy:

When you are on one side, you can easily move to the other side!

Google says that Pink Roses symbolize gratitude, joy, and admiration. I’ll agree…

Gratitude for Flickr; Joy for the happiness and smiles I get from my photography equipment and its use to play and trying to create; Admiration for the brilliant and shockingly creative images shared by you, my Flickr Friends.

I would say that Google got this one right.

Дракон символізує владу над усіма стихіями та світом загалом – істота, якій надаються надприродні здібності та неймовірна сила. Фрагмент шолома самурая.

The Dragon came to Japanese culture from China. I photographed samurai helmets in the History Museum of the Polytechnic Institute. There was an exhibition of Japanese edged weapons and combat armor, “The Soul of a Samurai.”

These places symbolize a yearning to break free from a mundane, ordinary existence, to experience life beyond. The appeal is being able to leave and look for something better.

Dragonflies in almost every part of the world symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self-realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

This incredible architectural masterpiece symbolizing the sailing navy, was designed to house the replica of a Junk from the Ming dynasty!

Black tulips symbolize power and strength. Their mysterious and elegant shade depicts royalty. Origin: Black tulips are a rare hybrid of tulips. Absolute black tulips are very hard to achieve, but there are many mixtures of purple, dark wine red or velvet maroon that are closest to pure black. Seen at the Big chair in Thomasville. NC.

Symbolizes the struggle of man with evil. By an anonymous painter in the style of Jheronimus Bosch (1450-1516).

This imposing structure can be seen for miles around Collingwood and symbolizes the twin engines of commerce in the early 1900's, agriculture and shipping.

In 1899, the Collingwood Council identified the need to erect a Modern elevator, but due to low water levels, construction was delayed until 1929, when the Federal government agreed to pay for dredging.

The two million bushel grain elevator has bins 100 feet high and 22 feet in diameter. The steamer MUNISING arrived in September 1929 with 228,000 bushels of American grain, the first shipment for this important new structure, the third grain elevator in Collingwood's growing economy.

Grain service stopped in 1993, ending 64 years of operation for the cement elevator and 123 years of grain trade in Collingwood. The terminals, now owned by the Town of Collingwood, continue as a modern day landmark.

A door can symbolize many things in our lives.

It can be something that represents the hope of possibilities;

the promise of new opportunity. It can convey the idea of change or transition. Sometimes it signifies prevention.

We often use the expression, 'when one door closes, another one opens' and it seems to be a truism in life. We think we know exactly what we want to do, or have, but despite our best efforts and how frequently we try to smash our way through, the door remains firmly shut. That's when frustrations can be calmed with the notion that perhaps there's something better ahead than we're presently aware of if we're patient and vigilant.

The phrase, 'the door of opportunity' is another truism and sometimes when we think back on our lives we can see where we successfully took advantage of the moment and the opportunity presented to us. Conversely, one of life's regrets can be the open door we ignored.

"What's it going to take to open the closed door?" We know we need, or want, to get to a certain position but some type of key is required. Many times that becomes a time of emotional, spiritual or intellectual pursuit of an answer to a mystery.

I suppose it's also true that doors can be the stuff of nightmares. What frightening thing is on the other side? But for the mostpart, at least to my way of thinking, a door can be a golden opportunity.

Did you know that, aside from symbolizing longevity, peaches also safeguard health? Yep. Holistically speaking, the fruit is considered as medicine for everything from rheumatism to colds to nurturing the soul.

A "Peach Girl" in America is a vessel of joy and kindness, like a peach's healing medicine is to the soul. People are excited when they see her coming and are sad to see her go because she brings life through her words and heart.

She is also diligent with her work ethic, and very trustworthy - for she keeps her word and follows through on a commitment, no matter how small it may seem.

The [1 Hundred.] Sweet Peach Tee & Shorts Outfit is a perfect blend of comfort and sass. The sexy combination of its cropped tight tee (with its fun graphic peach print), and its hot little denim shorts will certainly catch a lot of attention.

This [1 Hundred.] Sweet Peach Tee & Shorts outfit fits Maitreya, Legacy (+Perky), and Reborn (+Waifu) mesh bodies. Its Fatpack comes with Blue, Blush, Lilac, Pink (shown), Tan, and White colored tees to choose from.

A tower on a mythical force world, inhabited by a crusty old caretaker. This monastery might just become a new Jedi Academy, if Luke can convince the old man.

Built for Star Wars Factions, and the NJO. The tower incorporates influences from Jabba's Palace (originate built by B'omarr Monks) and Zeffo iconography, symbolizing how the Monastery is a patchwork of different cultures and architectures.

The geranium flower symbolizes happiness, good health, good wishes, and friendship. They are associated with positive emotions.

The pink coloured Geranium symbolizes romance, love and affection as well. Because of this, pink Geraniums were used as ingredients in love potions and according to stories, they had a really strong effect. Whether this is or isn’t true, pink Geraniums are certainly beautiful as gifts for someone dear to you.
