On this day, I was passing through Hockey, Texas just scouting around. My dad and I used to have a hunting lease in Hockley back in the 1980's that we hunted ducks and geese on. I was looking around for what became of the property. As it turns out, there is a large tank car cleaning and repair facility right in the middle of the old property.
As I was driving past the facility, I noticed a switcher relocating some cars in the tracks there. I stopped at the County Park there for a closer look.
GMTX 69, an EMD SW1000, originally built in February 1971 as BN 432, then later renumbered to BNSF 3625, was dragging and shoving cuts of cars into different tracks at the VLS Recovery Services Plant. VLS performs railcar cleaning, removal of hazardous waste, storage of railcars, repairs, and scrapping.
A road switcher crosses Kent ave in order to pull Pacific Coast Metals, one of the remaining customers at the O Yard.
Deboxing the Rapunzel Feature Doll. Rapunzel's inner box slides out from the bottom, not the top of the box. First you have to detach the 'try me' switch from the front window by undoing two layers of tape. Once freed from the tape, it can be pushed back through a hole in the box to fall inside the box. The other end of the switch plugs into a socket in the back of the doll, and is detachable once the doll is deboxed. Then the doll is removed from the box, still attached to the inner backing. The backing can free stand, and now the doll is in the clear.
The recently released Disney Store Deluxe Feature Rapunzel Doll. She is part of the line of new 16 inch singing Princess dolls for 2015. They not only sing, but each also comes with an accessory and have other special features. They also come in a sturdy reusable box with a satin carrying handle. They are available online and in stores in North America, and cost $49.95 each. Rapunzel I think is the most impressive doll in the line, and the most different from previous singing dolls of the same character.
Once the 'try me' switch is detached, you trigger the sound and lights by sliding the lantern back and forth a little way along her hand. There is a LED light in the palm of her hand that flickers while she is singing, and lights up the lantern. She sings about 35 seconds of the 'Healing Incantation' song very clearly and just the right volume. The sound is better than any previous DS singing doll that I have heard. The gentleness of the song, with accompanying lights, and the beauty of the doll, makes for a very moving experience. I don't think I will get tired of hearing the song and seeing the lights on this doll.

An out-of-service Line 6 train is seen entering the reversing siding beyond Széll Kálmán tér to change directions and head back into the center of Budapest. The BKV's Combino Supra trams (Siemens, 2006-2007) have been adorned with smiles as part of a marketing campaign for a charity offering mental health services for sick children.

Netgear JGS524 24port gigabit switch w/Jumbo Frames support.
I had an 8-port Netgear switch (GS108) that worked VERY well, but then I ran out of ports on it. Of course I don't need 24 ports, but reasoned that when I buy a home one day, I can use it as part of the backbone for the home network.

A lonely switch machine on the old Boonton Line. There are no customers down at this end of the line, and this switch opens up the east end of a siding. The rust on the rails indicate nothing has been down here for quite some time, yet the switch is tightly locked down with a modern padlock.
Linksys Routers with DD-WRT firmware. Old laptop servers with Linux does the rest like VPN, printer sharing, etc.

Disassembled Dremel 300 switch. The blue piece slides the black piece with the copper fingers over the three contacts in the switch body. One of the fingers got folded back and broke, it is shown here soldered together.
