I wish I had a switch like this so I can turn myself on and off whenever I need to do so.

Double slip switch (X-switch) in detail:
You can exchange two normal switches for one X-switch, and this way you can save 27 studs in track length. The geometry of the X-switches are following the normal switch geometry, so a14 and a8 are useful here as well. Unfortunately the diagonal length of this switch is smaller so two different X-switches are needed. Changing the diagonal length would make bigger problems, like losing the 16 studs module in line distance.

L552 Brought the ELS 1201 into the yard last night. I believe this unit came down from Marinette and is on it's way to Wells for some work, but I'm not sure because there was no billing for the unit. A newer sister sits in the back ground tied down after a night a switching.....

The grandiosly titled Empire State Railway Museum at Phoenicia, NY on 10 September 2017, the remnant of the tourist Catskill Mountain Railroad (CMRR).
A pair of four axle switchers, on the left is CMRR 29 an ex U.S. Navy 50 tonner, and on the right; an old GE 45 tonner as yet to be restored. The track in the foreground appeared to be part of the old railroad but the exhibits were just placed on track that had been laid directly on the ground to display/store them.
