From a recent publicity shoot, I introduce you to the gorgeous, quirky and absolutely fun, Kat. I have called this image "Surrender", with tongue-in-cheek, cause based on the time I spent with Kat, I feel that she has way too much spunk and gumption to readily surrender.

when the woman who lived here started approaching us, i was worried she'd shoo us trespassers off her property. instead, when she saw we were photographers, she introduced herself as Nora and said, "here, let me show you the most beautiful place in Montana--nobody knows about it," and lead us behind her house. she lived on the only hill in the middle of a grand valley, and apparently owned the entire hill. she showed us the huge basalt quarry she and her family own, and the flat plateau on top of the hill. you could see forever from up there. i hope to post more pictures from this place soon. many thanks, Nora for your hospitality! what an incredible part of the world.

When we kiss my heart's on fire
Burning with a strange desire
And I know, each time I kiss you
That your heart's on fire too
So, my darling, please surrender
All your love so warm and tender
Let me hold you in my arms, dear
While the moon shines bright above,

A white flag flies above an empty marina. Rollei A26, Kodak Verichrome Pan (expired 1982), Rodinal 1:50.
Surrender, a word that we don't understand
How are we to get ahead when we have empty hands?
We fight for what will fade
We cling to that from which we're saved
And soon we'll wake to find
We've naught but fists of sand
What good is the whole world
If you've no soul?
~Cool Hand Luke
I just adore their lyrics. Oh how they make me think!
On another note - yeah....winter sucks. Maybe it's still fall where you are....not here.

Recently during the thanksgiving weekend, we decided to head to San Diego and see if we could get some nice sunset shots. I have heard and read so much about sunset cliffs that we decided to head there and after sitting in LA traffic for about 3 hours we finally reached just after the sun went down. The location itself was nothing spectacular especially if you compare it to more dramatic coastlines of Big Sur or Oregon. Bu t what was interesting was the cloud formations in the sky and the small puddles on the shore that work as nice for ground interests. Here is one of the shots I made there hope y'all like it. Thanks for visiting.
Every now and then you find a scene that you know will be perfect in a classic black & white. This was the case when I discovered Bondleigh Hall ruins for the first time on Friday.
I wanted to do photography today but He was leading me differently, to spend more time talking with folks... But watching this video (youtu.be/6RxVxtLtjhw), I supernaturally fully believed that God cared about me and every aspect of my life. It was when Jairus was begging Jesus to come heal his daughter.... So often God is begging me to just take care of myself, like a loving father trying to talk his son out doing something stupid. Doing life His way makes happy, I feel close to him, and I'm recognizing His goodness (or, glorifying Him, to use a church word)
The odd thing is, I believed He wanted me to do photography this morning. He just kept saying 'not yet' and leading me to do different things which were nice, but not photography
He's talked to me about photography as something just to do with him instead of something to make me happy. When I'm trusting in God, remembering my sin, Jesus's love, and dreaming of heaven while counting gratitudes today... I'm pretty happy and content
And sure enough, the lighting was beautiful at sunset and he urged me to take this picture of my wonderful nerve plant
If you surrender completely to the moments as they pass, you live more richly those moments.

The white flag of surrender flying on top of Dollar Law in the border hills. Brrrr it was very cold that day thats for sure. This unusual "icy flag" stuck to an old rotten fence post caught my eye on a walk in the southern uplands.
(White Caps). Jordan Azcune
Artist's statement: 'White Caps' depicts a formal parade of white flags. Grounded in rows with white ropes and simple poles, these 6ft-tall structures suggest an anthropomorphic crowd of waves, activated by wind rather than swell. It's D.I.Y. engineering and formal spacial alignment set next to the context of the ocean offer opportunities to test the inevitability of wind force and highlight the kinetic beauty of material. White Caps optimises its position in reference to the sea, while parodying the complex nature of symbols within maritime and surf culture.

I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever...

Even after all this time
The Sun never says to the Earth "You owe me"...
Look what happens with a love like that....
It lights the whole sky
