This beautiful little "Tibetan Lite" support spindle weights 1.1 ounces (32 grams). The hickory shaft measures about 10 1/2 inches in length and the whorl, which is crafted from goncalo alves, measures about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
Accompanying this spindle, is one of our originally designed support spinning bowls that combines the efficiency of a ceramic surface with the stability of a wide beautiful wooden base. The ceramic insert measures 1 3/4 inches in diameter, and the gorgeous goncalo alves base is 2 3/4 inches in diameter.

Drawing on a mother’s love -- Maggie’s Place card campaign supports women who choose life
Catholic children of all ages find ways to honor their earthly and heavenly mother each May.
This year, they can honor even more moms who embrace the gift of raising children.
Maggie’s Place — a Catholic-based nonprofit group that operates three houses of hospitality across the Valley for expectant mothers who are alone or homeless — is encouraging Catholics to support its second “Honor Your Mother” campaign by purchasing handmade Mother’s Day cards.

Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg Support act Fire Exit.

A huge thanks goes out to the band “Fire Exit” who put on a fantastic show at the Garage in Glasgow’s Sauchiehall street tonight. Fire Exit over the years have seen a few changes and after Paul Thompson left, their new guitarist managed to set up this support gig only to leave himself with Paul returning to take up the lead guitar and like they say, the show must go on.
The band supported Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg and with Marky being a legendary Ramones drummer and huge punk influence for many. This gig was a big deal for the band and why Paul gave me the shout out to shoot this once in a life time, all be it the bands been around 40 years, chance of a lifetime. So much so, Jerry, Fire Exit’s singer who himself was recovering from a nine month wait for knee surgery which couldn’t be kept of the dance floor, as his walking stick could clearly be sing bouncing around in the air as Marky’s band had everyone on the dance floor.
Earlier I was lucky enough, on entering the venue and on the back stairs to have run into Marky heading for his sound check and where he was gracious enough to allow me to shoot his band and a further surprise came later just as I spoke the the guitarist and singer as the band waited to on stage, when Marky himself pulled me aside to take a group photo. Nice one 😉
This excellent gig was energetic from start to finish as the bass player after each songs yelled out. 1.2.3.4 before anyone had time to draw breath as they raced through at least 30 songs before taking a quick encore then back on to do at least 6 more before bowing off to a rapturous applause. Though during the main set, I did see one guy being wrestled out the building by the bouncers for god knows what reason, as everyone remained oblivious to the scuffle and carried on having a great night. Afterwards the fans like me gathered at the front of stage yelling for a free set lists or drum stick. Though the free drum stick was handed to Fire Exits drummer Lawrence along with his drum stool that was used my Marky throughout his bands set. Though I spotted Greg Hetson Blitzkrieg guitarist dropped plectrum by his microphone stand to which the security guard handed it to me as a keepsake to end what was a fantastic night of punk rock nostalgia.

On June 2, the first ever national VA 2K Walk was held to benefit homeless Veterans and encourage employees to join in on the walk. From New York to California, a total of 155 VA sites participated in the walk. In addition to Walk and Roll event, more than 16,500 employees, Veterans, and community members donated almost 26,000 items for homeless Vets.

In the 2006 ZURBwired we helped the Second Harvest Food Bank create the "I Skipped Lunch" campaign to raise money for the organization. We also wanted to raise awareness and experience what it feels like to be hungry while trying to carry on normal daily activities such as work and family responsibilities.
The ZURBwired 24-hour marathon is where our team and the team from one lucky local nonprofit get together to do something great in 24 hours. We spend the day helping the nonprofit solve a big challenge; whether it be marketing for an upcoming event, or completely overhauling their brand—and we get it all done in 24 hours.

Help support Youth Sports around South Rowan and and surrounding counties by supporting Rick Houston's Golf Club Raffle. Rick lets South's teams practice and play their matches for free on his course. It is a nice course and a first class club house! Wanted to tell you about the reverse raffle we are hosting on Sat Feb 28th. The proceeds are going to South Rowan Golf, but will benefit many other area youth if I may explain. For the past 15 years, WGC has welcomed South's boys and girls teams to practice and play their matches for free. There has never been a charge for any team competing against them either. Salisbury High, West Girls, Catawba Men, Phieffer men, Davidson men, and China Grove Middle have also enjoyed using the facility from time to time for no charge. WGC believes our youth need as many outlets as possible to escape the virtual world they are raised in by exercising and enjoying the environment on a daily basis. Tickets are $100 each and only 200 will be sold. There will be 15 winners with $5k as the grand prize. A dinner will be held before the drawing with HA Thompson as the M.C.
