Selfie in an old abandoned water tower plinth. This is a structure which once supported a huge water tank as used in the age of steam.

Shot with a Sony 14mm G Master lens tilted way back towards the sky and a top tip for making yourself look considerably slimmer than in real life ;-)

Please support me in the ALS 2016 walk in Scarborough this year. The medications from the funding of previous supporters have helped me for almost 4 years. Last year's support from Gramp's Group was amazing... $9000.00.

And the award for the best supporting act goes to........

37716 and 37422 outside York Thrall (Holgate) during the evening on Sat 16th December 2023.

These are 2 out of a total of 5 Class 37’s that were included in the line up, following the end of the locomotives use on the 2023 railhead treatment trains based at York. I feel a bit mean referring to these 2 as a mere supporting act. They were of course much more than that, although it's probably fair to say that the majority of attention went the way of the other 3.

The photo shoot was organised by the well respected Network Rail Director Chris Gee, and involved a huge amount of detailed preparation and organisation amongst both DRS and Network Rail, as well as numerous individuals. It was a great success and all of the proceeds raised (£3,000.00) will be donated to Martin House Hospice.

I've checked the manual, read the FAQs and raised a support query but, frankly, I don't think this is a known issue.

This is not my photo... I believe it belongs to Klara Dolores. The flag reads "Revolution Oust Chavez"

Thank you for viewing this image.

I reckon I've come up with a new building technique using a 30134 - Staircase 7x4x6 as rafters.

The advantages of using a 30134 - Staircase 7x4x6 piece in this context is allowing the roof to be structurally stronger and they also represent the wooden rafters that go diagonally across a typical roof. Follow the link below to see the technique used in context.

“Washing one's hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless means to side with the powerful, not to be neutral. ”

― Paulo Freire

Paulo Reglus Neves Freire was a Brazilian educator and philosopher who was a leading advocate of critical pedagogy.

This is the bottom side of a bridge crossing the Charles River.

This was taken on my last London visit early this month. This is a shot from my first visit to the Royal Academy of Arts in London and a new staircase for me. The Royal Academy is free to enter and comprises 2 linked buildings. These stairs are in the original building, Burlington House with an entrance from Piccadilly. Not really a spiral staircase as there are half circles with straight ramps between. The interesting bit though is that the treads are semi transparent glass and also glass sides Also it is a new structure shoehorned in to an older narrow structure. I liked the shapes and lines of the supports and reflections.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A68 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens at 10mm. I took 3 shots for HDR processed in Photomatix using tone balancer for a natural look. More detail was brought in using Topaz Clarity and noise reduced using Topaz DeNoise. Topaz Adjust was used on part to enhance using a layer mask. Overall brightness was increased with a layer mask used to remove the adjustment from highlights..

Arachnid threads with intriguing bokeh and diffraction as seen by a 50mm Nikon f1.8 lens - plus a bit of input from 3 extension tubes and Photoshop CC. This is a single exposure with the usual RAW processing tonal lifts and adjustments that the software is good at.
