A regular sight across Japan the indigenous T-4 is currently scarcely seen on the move under its own steam due to engine issues that are plaguing the fleet, just 3 T-4s are actively flying from Iruma as of November 2019. 46-5719 however, flew extensively during 3 visits to Iruma.

One of the best murals I’ve seen in a long time, maybe ever. It has such wonderful depth and there are actual pieces of rebarb protruding from the artwork. Located near Chico State University and across the street from an awesome New York style pizzeria.

Interesting fact: this is the second version of this mural in the same spot. The building was remodeled, but the company loved the mural so much, they hunted down the artist and requested it be recreated exactly as it was before.

I am a very serious person...

...99.9% of the time.

I despise chickens and all chicken-related things (books, humor, art, etc.). Even the sight or mention of a chicken makes me groan inside. Then why in the world would I choose to build this?

Occasionally, when my mind is tired, not knowing what to think or even why to think, I fall into absurdity. In short, I cave. My seriousness leaves, and in its place stands incoherent gibberish. I embrace what I don't like, even if that means chickens.

So in a way, this creation represents the utter nonsense that can spout forth from a brain that really is not thinking clearly.

Speaking of that, Chicken Little is a story about some foolish young fowl who has a piece of something fall on its head (it may be an acorn, or a leaf, or a raindrop; who knows?). It goes berserk and insists that "The sky is falling!!". Thenceforth Chicken Little makes a huge fuss over it and gathers fellow animals to go warn the ruler of the area. The group meets a sly fox (what other kind of fox would there be?), who convinces the gullible animals that the way to the ruler goes right through the fox's lair. They enter the lair and the fox eats them all. (Or, if you like the other versions better, they escape and warn the ruler, but still turn out to be incorrect about the sky.)

So I think that that image of hysteria is what I've captured in this obnoxious little build. Whenever I feel like blurting out whatever my immediate reaction to my circumstances is, this chicken can remind me to always think before I speak, lest I believe the world will end and thereby fulfill my own prophecy through my own ignorance.

Don't worry, I promise that the next creations I submit will be serious in nature. This one is not a new precedent for me.

This chicken is a bauble-head; it has a technic axle as its neck that would need to be flexible if this were to become a set so that the head could wobble. The wings and tail can flap.

And yes, that is a canoe.

Built in 1938 to commemorate the role of King Albert I during the First World War and in particular the Battle of the Yser, when he remained with his troops to defend the national soil.

This monument has a circular shape with a diameter of 30 meters, a rotunda in the center of which is the equestrian statue of King Albert I of Belgium. Twenty brick columns from the Yser valley support an arch with a circumference of 100 meters. The ground consists of a 2,500 m2 terrace in the shape of a cross.

Erected in homage to the King and the Belgian troops of the First World War, the monument was inaugurated on July 24, 1938 in the presence of King Leopold III, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince Baudouin and Princess Joséphine-Charlotte. The King Albert 1st monument stands proudly at the mouth of the Yser, at the initiative and with the support of associations of veterans of the First World War.

If the banks of the Yser were chosen, it is of course because of the important role played by the river from the first months of the Great War and throughout this conflict.

The building was classified in 1999. Since September 1, 2013 and for a period of 50 years, the Albert 1er Monument has been ceded to the City of Nieuport by means of an emphyteutic lease, on condition that the allocation is guaranteed. as a memorial of the First World War.

This monument is located in the immediate vicinity of the Yser, at the river entrance to the city's port, next to the complex of locks better known as “la patte d'oie” (“De Ganzepoot”) which refers to its overall shape.

This complex of locks and gates known as “La Patte d'oie” has been regulating the water level in the Yser basin since the end of the 19th century. It is the 6 waterways converging at this location that gave its name to this portion of land.

The greek theatre of Segesta, nestling in the side of Mt. Barbaro, today commands a spectacular view of the Gulf of Castellamare. First built from the late 4th to early 3rd century BCE, the theatre as it is seen today dates to the 2nd century BCE. Originally it had 29 rows of seats (the lower 21 survive) divided vertically into seven sections by access steps. The capacity would, therefore, have been around 4,000 spectators. The theatre is supported by a containing wall constructed of limestone blocks. The orchestra, scene building (once decorated with scenes connected to the pastoral god Pan), and entrances (paradoi) on either side have been lost. The theatre continues to host theatre events and Greek dramas throughout the summer months.

Maankwartier is an elevated neighborhood – or citadel, as Huisman and the architects call it. Like a citadel, Maankwartier has an interior and exterior part, separated by surrounding walls. On the south side, tall buildings line Maankwartier, on the north side a sturdy curved wall stands.

The relatively closed exterior of this outline is the support for the actual buildings inside. The interior of the citadel offers sheltered squares and passageways with small shops, cafes and accommodation. As in a historic city, height differences in the neighborhood can (also) be overcome without the use of elevators and escalators.

Here is a 30-second slice of the history of Yosemite's glacier-formed and weather eroded Half Dome. As I watched the clouds streak by, I could really imagine how this place was formed over the eons. No HDR.

The clouds were moving quickly over the top of Half Dome, and the light looked good on the rock face. So I put on my dark filter to make a long exposure. Over the course of 30 seconds, the clouds moved a lot and the shadows of the clouds made for some good light across the face of the cliffs. And the moving trees and reflections softened in the reflected light from above.

This part of The Tenaya River is called Mirror Lake because is is often calm and reflective. But the wind softened the light falling on the water. The long exposure shows that soft light much better than a shorter one which would show the frozen choppy water. Sometimes a long exposure feels more realistic than a shorter one!

I do have some shots that are completely reflective when the wind calmed down. The effect is striking too.

The map shows exactly where this is. It is a 1-mile hike from the nearest road.

I reckon I've come up with a new building technique using a 30134 - Staircase 7x4x6 as rafters.

The advantages of using a 30134 - Staircase 7x4x6 piece in this context is allowing the roof to be structurally stronger and they also represent the wooden rafters that go diagonally across a typical roof. Follow the link below to see the technique used in context.
