I recently spent a few days shooting a high school friend of mine, actress Desiree Markella. It was a lot of fun and I've been pretty pleased with the results.

Clouds moved in on Wednesday afternoon, making views of Crater Lake sparing, at best. I was a bit disappointed, as I really wanted to get another chance at a sunset shot from the north side of the lake. As I was driving back to camp, though, I came across this. With everyone else up on the rim looking at the lake, I got to enjoy this scene for 30 minutes or longer with not one other person around.

That's what the sailor is doing on the sailboat during this breathtaking moment. I was shooting some sunset scenes with a wide angle lens on the 6D. I spotted the boat in the far distance and pulled out the 7D with the 400mm lens to shoot this scene. It's composed in camera as is. I used my camera bag as support to shoot from. Good thing that the sailboat was captured super sharp. Enjoy!
