There were about a dozen teenagers milling about when I took the images. Some loud, some drunk and some probably on something else. This was around 17.30 hrs. Luckily they ignored me. If the hadn't then there was no safe retreat for me. A visit to the pub afterwards calmed me down!
The sunset last night was something special! Driving home from McDonalds with my kids Alastair & Harriet we just had to detour off the main road and park up down a quiet side country lane and admire it. This photo had no right to turn out anywhere near as decent as it did! I used my friend Carl's camera handheld with no polariser or grad fillters. I prefer the image over that which I captured with my old Canon 350d slr (which was tripod mounted and had a grad filter for the sky). For one thing the Olympus has a wider angle lens but also the sensor is clearly superior (it's about 10yrs newer!).
A Minnesota lake sunset taken a few weeks ago. The forecast was for calm winds so I wanted to find out what the possibilities might be for sunset shots from this location. I had found this location during my back road wanderings in the Minnesota lakes area.
This was the same evening as an earlier shot posted in portrait format. I'm looking forward to revisiting this spot when the ice is just beginning to form.
Yesterday when the snow stopped I notice a special sunset, by the time I tried to find a nice spot to shoot, the beautiful reddish sun hid behind the trees. It's not the northern lights but it's still very beautiful.
