THE SUNSET TREE
I sit beneath the sunset tree
and watch the sun go down
or sit and watch it rise again
far from the madding town
I lose myself along my beach
dance barefoot in the rain
I pick up my guitar to sing
and find myself again
I wish upon a rainbow
I telephone a friend
We let our tears flow freely then
it helps our hearts to mend
There's beauty all around me
it's everywhere I look
in the tiniest of flowers
in the sharing of a book
I feel connected to the Earth
feel sand between my toes
I love to splash in puddles still
and stop to smell a rose
but most of all I'm thankful
to have a friend in you
You recognise yourself in me
we'll make our dreams come true.

We travelled with our boat and stayed overnight on an isle. There we could see this beautiful sunset.

A very warm and sunny day in Maui, Hawaii came to an end rewarding me with a beautiful and cloudy sunset by the beach. As always, the beach was full of people trying to capture the magic of this moment. One particular person caught my eye as he grabbed his camera, went ankle deep into the ocean and stayed there almost 20 minutes taking shots. Looking at him from behind with that colorful sky at the background, it really felt like he was the only person on the island, a castaway from a shipwreck capturing his glorious loneliness ..
Sunset from the top of Binevenagh Mountain, County L'Derry. This point is overlooking Lough Foyle towards Inishowen in County Donegal. You can also see the River Roe meandering through Myroe before entering the lough.
Taken on the 5th November 2017, the sun finally broke through the clouds and lit the foreground with some beautiful warm light.
Plakias in Crete provides some excellent sunset photo oppuortunities. Here I liked the foreground flora.

I know, I know... I've been posting a lot from that set of sunset shots, but it was such a majestic sunset and I really love most of the photos I took that evening, I really can't help it ;)))

It was special evening to see plenty of beautiful reflections on windless lake Kukkia surface.
One of my favorite hobbies is to kayak or go slowly with boat during sunrise or sunset on wildless moments. I like to use wide range Nikkor 28-300mm lens which gives me possibility to observe the surrondings for beautiful details. Before the sunset it is more pleasing to see water reflections away from the sun direction. I shoot also directly towards the sun but it really hurts my eyes to even climpse the sun so it is mostly blind shooting in hope to catch something beautiful which can also happen if I shoot very much. However, it is much more pleasing to shoot something that I can really see and focus on. When I shoot from boat or kayak I have to avoid too long exposure times because boat or kayak is always moving a little even in windless conditions. During the last moment of sunset and right after sunset I usually shoot directly to sun direction. I also like to zoom a lot and shoot series of photos to combine as panoramas later. I find that zoomed photos are much more balanced images in color tones than wide angle photos which tend to look small bright spots and quite dark elsewhere. With Lightroom and Photoshop with some effort it is possible to convert even dark wide angle photos to shining sunset images but I don't like to do that too much. For me it is more pleasing that I get the original photo quite the same as the final processed one.
