With the sun at the solstice, its angle into the horizon allows for a longer duration sunset. With the sun setting at 4:29PM, for the next 20 minutes, the entire sky was a blaze in reds and oranges. I have a timelapse clip looking in the opposite direction: www.flickr.com/photos/79387036@N07/31403696910/in/photost... hoping to catch some anti-crepuscular rays. I only wish that I had other cameras to capture the intense colors unfolding in this direction.

Winds were gusting of 50mph at the time of this image.

A colourful sunset at the beach of IJmuiden, the Netherlands. The strong winds made it difficult to get this shot as I tried to prevent my camera from movement by shielding it with my body.
