Student Fees Protest, London, Dec 9th

Dardanelle High School seniors viewed the last weekly news broadcast for the year about the upcoming graduation events. For the school year, DHS EAST students Ashley, Whitney, and Michael created weekly broadcast news to the student body during the school’s advisory period. The news included current events and bulletin items for students during the daily advisory period. The project evolved from PowerPoint presentations to video productions. During the first nine weeks of the school year, EAST student Lucas worked with Kelly Wurst, the school’s library media specialist, to update the broadcast equipment. Lucas first installed a computer to run PowerPoint presentations from the Channel One equipment as the equipment only had VHS capabilities. However, the Channel One equipment proved to be out-dated and unreliable. The need to update was evident and through the work of Lucas with Mrs. Wurst, the district installed updated equipment providing the school with the ability to show current news broadcasts, DVD video productions, and computer productions. Lucas provided the necessary training to the EAST broadcast team how to run the new equipment. As a result, the broadcast team had the capability to create and utilize current video technology to provide current news items to the student body.

Students learned the art of bookbinding and made their own notebook for botanical studies, invention planning, secret notes, and more. They studied the principles of flight and then designed and built their own flying machines!
