An idyllic little campsite in a woods, near Hanningfield Reservoir in Essex.
Mostly vintage camping kit. My set up is a prewar Marvel No1 ridge tent, a Blacks Icelandic down sleeping bag, and a Burmos paraffin stove. Ben has a Camtors Itisa tent, and a Primus 96. It was a wet stay but we missed the worst of the weather. I don't think it rained heavily overnight either.

Did I mention the fluffy? SO MUCH FLUFFY. And without a sheet to tangle about, and since it's a king-sized duvet, Stuart and I have had 65% less tug-of-wars with the bedding.

Mount Stuart House on the east coast of the Isle of Bute, Scotland, is a Gothic Revival country house and the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute. It was designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson for the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the late 1870s,[1] replacing an earlier house by Alexander McGill, which burnt down in 1877.
The house is the seat of the Stuarts of Bute, derived from the hereditary office "Steward of Bute" held since 1157. The family are direct male-line descendants of John Stewart, the illegitimate son of King Robert II of Scotland, the first Stuart King, by his mistress, Moira Leitch. By virtue of this descent, they are also descendants of Robert the Bruce, whose daughter Marjorie was mother of Robert II by her marriage to Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland.

I raised Stuart the baby snapping turtle from egg to this size. You are looking at the magical night he was released into a protected area where his only predators would be the ones he would encounter naturally in Mother Nature. Right now he is hunkered down in the mud for his winter slumber...I miss this little guy!
Stuart and I taught my niece Catarina to play mancala, and then she proceeded to wipe the floor with us for the next six days. Lesson learned: your niece is very smart and should go to Barnard.
