We had a reception in the thermotechnical machines laboratory at the Leuven university where I work. All types of old machinery are exposed there. Low light conditions, I experimented with shallow DOF.

Rock band with roots in Southern California and Japan formed in 2012. Their sound weaves together crunching guitar riffs, progressive bass lines, lush harmonies, and complex melodic structures in songs that reflect both angst and optimism in an increasingly interconnected world of disconnected residents.

Fronted by Shibuya-born singer/songwriter Rayko, Lolita Dark provides the soundtrack and visuals of a world where light intersects dark, east meets west, and the past overlaps the present, depicting the, seemingly, redundant circles of our lives and universe.

The core of Lolita Dark is formed by singer/ songwriter / guitarist / multi-instrumentalist Rayko (Ray), Bassist Rain Balen, and Drummer Joey Felix who are also members of the Los Angeles rock band "Dig Jelly", and Okinawan vocalist and keyboardist Machiko (May), and guitarist Patrick Cabrera of prog metal band False Empire.

Their first album, “Tokyo Status” was released in 2012 and featured a wide range of intensely personal, yet universal meditations on love, addiction, promise, and despair. It blazed new territory with a sonic landscape that fused Shibuya glam, European symphonic-rock, and American metal. Lolita Dark's debut CD explored the themes of Salvation, Redemption, Sanctuary, and displayed some of Rayko's internal anguish after the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami ravaged her homeland.

Lolita Dark has performed at various venues including Bar Sinister, House of Blues, J-Pop events hosted by "Tune in Tokyo", and Rayko's on going event “Tokyo Status” .Lolita Dark has also performed at Anime Expo, Nan Desu Kan, Anime Los Angeles, and Pacific Media Expo, where they opened for Japanese artists BACK-ON (Avex) and D (Avex, Universal Music). Lolita Dark was also invited by NAMM 2015 to host a panel to talk about their success in finding a niche in independent music market.

Lolita Dark is working on their third release while they perform as an opener to national acts from Japan, and headlines local clubs and anime convention circuits.

“Mad Times”, from the "Tokyo Status" album, has been chosen for the in-production Steampunk web series “Tinker". “Wounded Angel”, the recently released song by Lolita Dark, has become the official theme song for Anime California 2014. Lolita Dark's second album, “Queen's Decade”, was released in the spring of 2014 at their opening performance for Gacharic Spin (Universal Music) at Tekko 2014.

Lolita Dark signed a 5 year recording/distribution contract for East Asia including Japan, Korea, and China in July 2015.

Structure Fires Throughout the Nevada Yuba Placer Unit

All the tunnels and bridges along the Princes Pier Railway have these excellent rusty plaques on the walls as you enter. 63 belongs to the Trafalgar Street Tunnel (also known as the Ann Street Tunnel). For the most part, the Trafalgar Street Tunnel is brick lined but at the portal, you can see that they've used stone. Many tunnels have this approach to construction and I know there's a good reason for it, I just can't think what that may be just now.

I found this at the edge of a recreation ground whilst looking for something else. At first I thought it was a railway tunnel air vent but there aren't any tunnels in the area. Also, whilst it seems circular, the other side is actually flat. So no idea, really.

Tokyo Tower 東京の塔 is a communications and observation tower located in Shiba Park, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. At 332.5 metres (1,091 ft), it is the second tallest artificial structure in Japan. The structure is an Eiffel Tower-inspired lattice tower that is painted white and international orange to comply with air safety regulations.

Built in 1958, the tower's main sources of revenue are tourism and antenna leasing. Over 150 million people have visited the tower since its opening. FootTown, a 4-story building located directly under the tower, houses museums, restaurants and shops. Departing from here, guests can visit two observation decks. The 2-story Main Observatory is located at 150 meters (492 ft), while the smaller Special Observatory reaches a height of 250 meters (820 ft).

The tower acts as a support structure for an antenna. Originally intended for television broadcasting, radio antennas were installed in 1961 and the tower is now used to broadcast both signals for Japanese media outlets such as NHK, TBS and Fuji TV. Japan's planned switch from analog to digital for all television broadcasting by July 2011 is problematic, however. Tokyo Tower's current height is not high enough to adequately support complete terrestrial digital broadcasting to the area. A taller digital broadcasting tower known as Tokyo Sky Tree is currently planned to open in 2012.

The taller Tokyo Sky Tree is not as nice as Tokyo Tower. See it and u know what i mean.

As part of my project for my photography course at college, I had to look for natural structures as well as man-made and decided to photograph the veins of a leaf to illustrate simple structure found within nature.

A representative soil profile of a Cumulic Hapludoll. (Kentucky Soil Atlas; by Anastasios D. Karathanasis, University of Kentucky)

Cumulic Hapludolls have an overthickened mollic epipedon (60 cm or more thick). The mollic epipedon is a relatively thick, dark colored, humus-rich surface horizon (or horizons) in which bivalent cations are dominant on the exchange complex and the grade of structure is weak to strong. These properties are common in the soils of the steppes in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

These soils are at the base of slopes or on flood plains, where they receive fresh sediments at a rate slow enough for the material to become incorporated into the mollic epipedon. These soils are permitted, but not required, to have a cambic horizon. They may be calcareous throughout their thickness. Slopes are gentle and are mostly plane or concave. These soils are of large extent and are widely distributed in the United States. Many of the soils supported tall grasses, but some supported trees and shrubs. Most are used as cropland.
