This piece is intended to explore the relationships between engineered and biological structure. What would a tree look like if it used trusses? What would a bridge look like if it were grown?
Wood.
Every since I grew tomatillos last summer I have been fascinated with these small husks. If you're not familiar with tomatillos, they're fruit looks alot like a green tomato. The green husks the fruit grows inside of reminds me of miniature paper lanterns. As the husks dry and deteriorate, the veins remain. These delicate structures are both intricate and seemingly random in their design.

This part of the Brookland Museum is my favorite, the derelict aspect of the hangar is the perfect settings for those old planes, and that plane located in one of the back corner actually echoes the ceiling beautifully. If I could have my way, I would remove every over planes from that hanger and would leave just that one, so I could get my perfect shot! :)
That plane was actually salvaged from the bottom of the Loch Ness Lake!
