Pluvier kildir | killdeer | Charadrius vociferus
Une maman attentionnée...
Pour terminer la belle série de cette si agréable rencontre avec cette petite famille de Kildir du Parc Michel-Chartrand, voici à nouveau un portrait de l'adulte qui accompagnait encore ses deux petits nés ce printemps. Chez les Kildirs, contrairement à leur cousins éloignés nichant souvent à proximité, le Chevalier grivelé où c'est le mâle qui couve les oeufs et prends soin des petits lors de leur premières semaines, c'est a femelle qui joue ce rôle chez les Pluviers Kildirs tout comme c'est le cas chez la très, très grande majorité des oiseaux de notre monde... C'est d'ailleurs en ce lieu que j'ai pour la première fois de ma vie croisé et capté un poussin Kildir au printemps 2015.

De la grande et grosse visite!!!
Depuis l'automne 2020 des observations de Dindons sauvage sont régulièrement faites au Parc Angrignon. Pendant plusieurs mois seul un spécimen était observé et rapporté sur eBird mais depuis l'été où je les ai croisé à quelques reprises elles sont toujours trois. En fin de journée elles finissent leur longue randonnée quotidienne pour se nourrir en allant se percher pour y passer la nuit très haut dans les arbres du secteur gazonné près de l'air de jeux pour enfants à la tête du grand bassin. Ici c'est sous un couvert nuageux dans les dernières minutes de lumière du jour que j'ai été en mesure de m'approcher suffisamment pour tirer le portrait d'un des trois gros oiseaux. J'ai dû appliquer un recadrage de 40% pour vous présenter cette image captée à haut ISO. Tout de même chouette! Quoique j'en ai vu à plusieurs reprises ces dernières années, c'est la première fois que j'en présente une sur ma galerie.

Rock or water?
The Athabasca River is the longest river in Alberta (1,538 km). The first 168 km (located in Jasper National Park) are designated as a Canadian Heritage River.
This is one of my pictures taken in my road trip to Alberta. I just love all the rugged mountain, water falls, lakes and rivers.

Krujë. In the background the fortress. Kruje has Ottoman style influences seen in the alley with the old bazaar. Krujas old bazaar is well preserved, and is a very photogenic place, attracting quite some tourists. Nowadays it houses mainly souvenir shops with traditional Albanian costumes, musical instruments, old books and memorabilia from the Communist days.

Out for a walk with camera in hand, the vibrant orange of wild daylilies initially caught my attention. However, between them a few smaller and more delicate Chicory flowers seemed to be a strong contender too - ultimately winning me over.
A beautiful view looking north west from Hardknott Roman Fort in the Lake District National Park looking towards Brock Crag and Heron Crag. The Lake District National Park is in the North West of England. Down below you can see the River Esk.
I'll be honest. I'm finding it hard to just carry on as normal posting landscapes while the people of Ukraine are suffering so badly. My only justification for it really is that to not do it means Putin has stopped me doing what I love, and I just won't let that happen. By posting this picture it does not diminish my support and love for the people of Ukraine. I support them in every way I can.

La belle dame en bleu...
Un de mes gros coup de coeur l'année dernière à la petite chute Pelé d'Angrignon, cette belle dame aux teintes variées de vert et d'ocre m'aura encore séduit en ce début de saison Paruline qui démarre tout doucement à Angrignon. Le ruisseau s'est remis à couler depuis le début de la semaine dernière mais encore jusqu'à ce ce jour aucune Paruline et autre oiseau migrateur ne s'y sont présentés, sauf peut-être pour une rare Paruline des ruisseaux qui aura passé furtivement samedi pendant que cherchais à capter cette dame en bleu dans un des boisés se trouvant autour du grand bassin. Il faut travailler fort cette année en comparaison à la dernière où nous avions des conditions extraordinairement facilitantes.
Hard wind and snow is blowing over the 1163 meters high Hornisgrinde during winter. The few trees on top of it are formed by the strong southwestern winds, a wonderful sight when they're covered in snow.
Well, the March is here. It doesn't mean spring for us, same frost and strong north wind. Maybe just light becomes a bit warmer, with some gold.

Much of the USA is experiencing a winter storm with snow, sleet and unusually cold temperatures. In Florida this afternoon, the temperature is 75ºF with clear blue skies and strong winds...

This picture was shot on a tripod with three exposures (-2..0..+2EV). I used Photomatix to create the HDR with tonemapping and detail enhanced. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. Unsharp Mask.

N458 on an Up V/Line Bairnsdale service parralels Comeng 599M on an UP Frankston Metro train over the Cremorne Rail bridge, both heading to their respected destanations in Melbourne.
With all N Class services to Albury and more recently Shepparton being axed, I am surprised the one Bairnsdale service remains. But soon enough Ns will be a thing of the past for Gippsland. 31/10/2022
