North Queensferry is a village in Fife, Scotland, on the Firth of Forth, between the Forth Bridge and the Forth Road Bridge, and 10 miles (16.1 km) from Edinburgh.
Nowadays especially known, because of the beautiful Forth bridge. The bridge was designed by Sir John Fowler and opened in 1890.

Every 2 years the Grand-Place (central square) in Brussels is covered with a flower carpet of begonias during 3 or 4 days. The carpet of 77 m x 24 m is composed by about 120 volunteers, with nearly one million begonias.
This year, in 2016 the event was from Friday 12 to Monday 15 August 2016 at the Grand-Place (Grote Markt) in Brussels.
(Athough they said it is made of Belgian Begonias, I noticed a lot of Dahlia's !)
The theme this year (2016) was Japan, and you can see the Japanese flag in the design, Koi carps, Bonsai , Bamboo and the crane bird.

L'eau coule...
L’eau a coulé tout l’automne et tout l’hiver dans les ruisseaux du parc, ainsi nous pouvons espérer la présence prochaine de quelques Parulines qui éventuellement pourrait peut-être créer à nouveau la frénésie que nous avons connu il y a deux ans à la Petite chute pelé... J’y suis arrêté à quelques reprises cette semaine, lors de mes tournées au parc, outre les Bruants chanteurs et un couple de Cardinal rouge, j’aurai eu le grand plaisir de capter ce Bruant des marais, constamment sur le qui-vive, chassé par les Bruants chanteur qui ne semblaient pas apprécier sa présence. Les prochains jours seront peut-être indicateur de ce que la petite chute pourra nous offrir tout au cours du mois de mai. Après avoir vu ce beau bruant à plusieurs reprises ces dernières années à l'Île-Bizard et au Ruisseau de Feu de Terrebonne, ce fut pour moi une première d'avoir pu le croiser et le capter au parc Angrignon.

La belle du jour à Angrignon...
Elle avait été vu le premier jour que je suis allé à la rencontre des parulines de la première petite chute du ruisseau d'Angrignon. À mon arrivé elle avait déjà quitté les lieux. Dès que Jocelyn Bernier m'a avisé tôt le matin de sa présence, grand merci Jocelyn, j'espérais qu'elle s'y retrouve toujours en fin d'après-midi, au moment où je planifiais ma visite du jour. Et bien elle y était encore. Pur plaisir!
Ma première rencontre avec cette paruline fait partie de mes impérissables souvenirs de mes premières années d'ornithologie. Un rayon de soleil m'était soudainement apparu sur une branche basse au Jardin botanique de Montréal il y a 25 ans... Doux souvenir...

Der Bau ist eine freie Nachbildung der Stabkirche von Borgund. Einige Adaptionen waren nötig, damit in der Kirche 350 Sitzplätze untergebracht werden können. Der Bau der Kirche begann 1907, ihre Weihe fand am 28. Juni 1908 statt.

Une image oubliée du printemps...
Les nombreuses nichées de Petits-ducs et la petite invasion de Parulines du printemps dernier au Parc Angrignon m'auront amené à complètement oublier de vous présenter cette image... Croisé aux abords de la petite baie du grand bassin d'Angrignon, au 2e jour de la sortie des petits d'Odi et Philémon, en compagnie de Jean-Guy Proulx et Serge Forcier, ce mâle, en déplacement, fut mon tout premier Cardinal à poitrine rose observé au Parc Angrignon. À part à l'Île Saint-Bernard où on peut le croiser à chaque printemps, je peux compter sur les doigts de la main mes rencontres avec un mâle de cette si belle espèce depuis les vingt-cinq dernières années. Un beau moment que celui de cette douce rencontre!

Bécasseau maubèche | Red Knot | Calidris canutus
De la grande visite dans la Baie!
L'année dernière j'ai enfin réussi à l'observer et le capter ce si particulier Bécasseau. On le reconnais toujours au premier coup d'œil celui-là de part sa couleur et le patron des plumes de ses ailes et de son dos. Pour le voir de la sorte je m'étais rendu deux fois plutôt qu'une à Saint-Denis-De La Bouteillerie situé à 400km de chez moi, là où à chaque automne il est présent en abondance en compagnie notamment de Pluvier argenté. En ce fabuleux début de saison limicoles dans la Baie Missisquoi, il s'y est présenté, à deux, et des deux côtés de la rivière aux Brochets par surcroît. Ils sont restés plusieurs jours, surtout à Venise-en-Québec, permettant à bien des photographes et observateurs d'admirer pour leur première fois ces grandes raretés dans ce secteur. Je me suis donc déplacé vers Venise-en-Québec en fin d'après-midi ce jour-là, exclusivement dans l'espoir de les rencontrer, ils étaient bien là, tout près du camping, dans les petites marres d'eau que nous retrouvons ça et là cette année partout sur la plage. Très coopératifs, ce fut une merveilleuse session et rencontre dans cette lumière feutrée et chaude de fin de journée.
