This is somewhat of a rare view in Grand Teton National Park. Normally, there just isn't much of a view when String Lake is concerned. This day, I was lucky enough to be blessed with a couple kayaking into my view. Lucky!

Here is why I like this image... I believe the three levels of "mountain" from left to right create a nice visual depth. The tree shadows in the foreground also contribute to that depth in a different plane. The kayaks' colors are complimentary to the scene and they just add a little "visual treat" or a human element or feeling of relaxation/pleasure to the scene. The distant shoreline has a sandy beach which creates a really nice visual delineation to the image.

Here is a vertical comp taken in the morning along String Lake there in the Grand Tetons National Park. The clouds streaming here are partially hiding the mountains, adding to the mysterious mood I think.

I really liked these tree roots stretching along the shore of the lake. As there was a slight breeze, the water was not a mirror out in the open area, so the BULB capture not only made the clouds look cool, but it smoothed out the water to a nice sheen reflecting the clouds and sky colors down into the surface of the lake.

A great place to catch the sunrise on Mount Moran is near the trailhead for the String Lake Trail. On still mornings, you get a nice reflection of the mountain in the lake as the first rays of like strike it and Rockchuck Peak sloping down in the foreground.

Finnaly I am free from the boss out of hell..... I had a new job, but it was the worst job of my life. The boss thought that I was a puppet that could work such long days, that I've had a breakdown a few weeks ago. Now a I am free again and looking for a another job. A cool job, with nice people.

I am not someones puppet on a string.

Photography using a DSLR Camera portraying the string theory that we are all connected by strings of energy that transfer emotion and feeling between each and every person on Earth. These strings create an aura and atmosphere in a room as the emotion is being transferred between all the people so they all subconsciously feel the same thing.

Piano strings on a 1931 Steinway M grand piano. The oldest record of wire being made for musical instruments is from Augsburg in 1351. Starting around 1800, the piano began to be built ever more ambitiously, with sturdier (eventually, iron) framing and greater string tension. This led to innovations in making tougher piano wire. In 1834, the Webster & Horsfal firm of Birmingham, United Kingdom brought out a form of piano wire made from cast steel; according to Dolge it was "so superior to the iron wire that the English firm soon had a monopoly." But a better steel wire was soon created in 1840 by the Viennese firm of Martin Miller, and a period of innovation and intense competition ensued, with rival brands of piano wire being tested against one another at international competitions, leading ultimately to the modern form of piano wire.

String

is a most peculiar thing.

A string quartet performing at the Manchester Town Hall, at the opening reception for the Urban Sketchers Symposium. Tina captured me sketching them from the other direction. I wonder if the musicians really knew what they were signing up for beforehand, performing before a crowd of sketchers - but they were good sports about it.

Here it is, my finished string-quilt. I had so much fun designing and making it. At times it was a bit of a struggle physically since it is the largest quilt that I've ever made.

Please note that the crossbow archer should have put the crossbow on the ground, stepped in the front hoop, and pulled the string up with both hands, then fitted a bolt in to shoot. (That's how it will be done in my future medieval / castle / fantasy battles.)

I figured out a way to cut the bow and crossbow pieces while maintaining both an intact string and a usable arrow / bolt. Even the little piece of the arrow cut off the back of the string can be glued into the middle of the arrow to keep its length consistent. So, yes, the arrows need to be glued together again, but at least the cutting doesn't ruin them or the bow (unless you think cutting pieces in the first place ruins them).

Anyway, this was a test to see if this method is practical enough to use in a large fight, and indeed it seems to be. If case you're interested, the arms are held on with rubber bands and switched left for right and vice versa to achieve the range of movement necessary.

Any feedback and / or criticism is greatly appreciated!

Feel free to use this technique however you want, and don't give me credit, since I probably wasn't the first to invent it.

finished piecing the quilt back and basted the quilt this weekend, and only 2 weeks left to finish this, 2 pencil rolls, and hopefully a few pot holders... ahhhh!!

Having a silly string war with my best friends was the perfect way to start off the summer. :)

Another lightning picture from last week. I like the way the lightning ran behind the horizontal line of small dark clouds connecting them like popcorn strung together on a string. Shooting lightning is interesting because you never know what you're going to get. Very different from the typical landscape where everything is carefully composed.

Variations. Preparing for an upcoming Zentangle demonstration, playing with basic tangles (to show that basic does not have to be boring).

Finaly a good day to take some photo's of this finished string quilt! What a beautiful morning with some frost, hoping for many more to come this winter! I finished this quilt in the last week of 2011 and finished the binding this week. I am very happy with the fabric choice, for a long time I was't happy with the fact that I bought the Hope Valley, did'nt know what to do with it. Until I saw this quilt made out of it www.flickr.com/photos/39332868@N06/5897170598/in/set-7215... It was just perfect for it! Thanks so much Angela for the idea!
