I had to pause my New Buffalo narrative thanks to a week spent down in Kentucky helping my in-laws move, but here I am again with a few more pictures from that nice day on the Lake Michigan shore in New Buffalo, Michigan. I passed these people as I was heading back toward my car. There's a section of beach that has been flooded out thanks to the lake's high water and has turned into a sort of lagoon surrounded by the leavings of a million sea gulls. It's kind of smelly over there.

I spotted these water strider cast skins while wading in the river....a beautiful array of cast skins.

A water strider is only the suggestion of a creature,

A wisp of wire and thread—

That walks by faith, its changeling shadow

Of globular gray paddles fringed in sharp mirrors

It moves against current, just enough

That bloke taking the photo was encountered several times running around the mountains with a couple of dogs. Nutter.

Where we came from. The cloud was low so this wasn't visible for much of the time!
